Congratulations, Doctor Yeargin! As of April 19th, our Director of Music and Organist, Andrew Yeargin, has successfully completed the requirements as a doctoral candidate at the Manhattan School of Music, and will receive the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in a ceremony on Friday, May 13th. Dr. Yeargin has been Director of Music at Holy Trinity since September 2014, and previously served for seven years as Assisting Organist/Cantor – later Acting Music Director – under the late McNeil Robinson, who was Music Director at Holy Trinity from 2007-2014. During that time, he also served as Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Episcopal Church in Manhasset, NY and Organ Scholar at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. As one of the final prize-winning organ students of McNeil Robinson’s illustrious teaching career, Andrew made Mr. Robinson the subject of his doctoral thesis, entitled McNeil Robinson: The Complete Musician (1943-2015). Originally from Raleigh, NC, Dr. Yeargin previously received a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 2009, and completed undergraduate studies at Westminster Choir College in Princton, NJ in 2007. He is regularly engaged in solo recitals, having played in the presence of His Holiness Pope Francis at St. Pete’s Basilica in Vatican City in the summer of 2015, and will appear as a featured artist at the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, SC in June.

Annual Parish VOLUNTEER Dinner

Monday, June 6th As we do every year, out of profound appreciation for all those ADULT parishioners (and their spouses) who worked for our parish throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, we will gather for a sit-down dinner at SCALETTA RESTAURANT on West 77th Street on Monday evening, June 6th. If you belong to a parish group (e.g., Parish or Financial Councils, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers), call your group leader, and they will pass along the number of attendees to the rectory. If you do NOT belong to a parish group (e.g., trustee, church decorator, etc.), and have worked for our parish, throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, call the rectory and leave your name(s).

* * * * * * * * PLEASE JOIN US NEXT SUNDAY 9:30 AM Mass, Sunday, May 15th

Monsignor Leonard is “coming home” next Sunday. So is New Yorker, Bishop Timothy McDonnell, retired Bishop of Springfield, Massachusetts, and ninth pastor of Holy Trinity Parish (1984-1990). He will be the celebrant at the regular 9:30 Mass NEXT Sunday, assisted by five of our priests and Monsignor Leonard. He will rededicate the Pastors Plaque in the church narthex and confirm 20 children. Plan to attend and tell those people who know him (and perhaps have now moved away) to join you at this Mass. * * * * * * * *

Happy Mother’s Day! We wish all the parish mothers a very happy day. Remember, there is no one like a mother … and that’s not just a sentimental thought. Ask any Mom, or dad, better, ask children of any culture, class or circumstance. God bless them one and all! You can see parishioner Mother’s Day envelopes placed on the side of the altar. In a special way, we are remembering all our mothers, both living and deceased, at all the Masses throughout the entire month of May. Special Mother’s Day envelopes may be found at the back of the church for your convenience. Drop yours in any collection.

A Biblical Image of God as Mother Book of the Prophet Hosea 11:1-4;8-9[Good News Translation The Lord says, “When Israel was a child, I loved him and called him out of Egypt as my son. But the more I called to him, the more he turned away from me. My people sacrificed to Baal [pagan gods]; they burned incense to idols. Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk. I took my People up in my arms, but they did not acknowledge that I took care of them. I drew them to me with affection and love. I picked them up and held them to my cheek; I bent down to them and fed them.

How can I give you up, Israel? How can I abandon you? Could I ever destroy you as I did Admah, or treat you as I did Zeboiim? My heart will not let me do it! My love for you is too strong. I will not punish you in my anger; I will not destroy Israel again. For I am God and not a mere human being. I, the Holy One, am with you. I will not come to you in anger.

+ Propagation of the Faith + Next week there will be a second collection for the Propagation of the Faith. Bro. John Blazo of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers will speak at all the Masses, inviting everyone in this Year of Divine

Mercy to take part in the vital work of bringing Christ and His Gospel to all people. Bro. Blazo has served as a missionary in Guatemala, and, while here at Holy Trinity, he will be happy to talk with any parishioners who are interested in doing overseas mission work.
