What’s new for the 2016-2017 school year? Checkpoints. Instead of end-of-year deadlines, there are four “checkpoints” throughout the school year. The goal of these mini-deadlines is to support everyone in implementing, documenting and reporting programming. Checkpoint dates are listed for each indicator. (History of Compliance and Digital Learning Environment will continue to have specific deadlines, however.)

Online reporting. Instead of campuses submitting signed campus reports for each category at the end of the school year, one shared CaSE reporting document for each campus will be available to principals, assistant superintendents and department heads on the District’s SharePoint system. Principals will be able to log in and enter completion dates and initials for each of their indicators as they are completed. Department heads and assistant superintendents will be able to monitor and support campuses with CaSE, as needed.

Photos. Photos of events are no longer required as evidence for all exemplary indicators. However, photos are listed as evidence items for several indicators.

ACTION REQUIRED

CaSE Tab. The CaSE tab on campus websites will no longer be required. Contact Brad Wehring by 9/12/16 if you would like to maintain your CaSE tab for the 2016-2017 school year. Otherwise, the tab will be phased out.

How will the overall campus ratings be calculated for 2016-2017?

For each of the eight categories, three points are available:

• Exemplary 3 • Recognized 2 • Acceptable 1 • Unacceptable 0

If a campus receives a Yes in the History of Compliance category, the following averages will yield the overall campus ratings indicated below:

• Exemplary: 2.5 to 3.0 • Recognized: 1.5 to 2.49 • Acceptable: 0.5 to 1.49 • Unacceptable: 0.0 to 0.49

Exceptions:

• If a campus is rated Unacceptable on two or more categories, the campus’s overall rating will be Unacceptable.

• If a campus has not completed History of Compliance by the November 4, 2016 deadline, the highest possible overall campus rating will be Recognized.

• If a campus has one category with the rating of Unacceptable, the highest possible campus overall rating will be Acceptable.

Categories that are determined to be not applicable (N/A) for a particular campus are not averaged in the overall calculations.

Documentation: Like last year, all final documentation is auditable and will be kept at the campus and made available for spot checks by District staff or the TEA.

An FAQ and other resources will be posted on the Administration website (http://www.saisd.net/dept/adminleadership/ ).

For questions regarding the rating criteria for a certain category, please contact the appropriate department head. For questions regarding the overall rating calculations and documentation, please contact David Goree at [email protected] or 554-2273.

Next step: Complete the CaSE Campus Contact Form for your campus by 9/12/16. A link will be e-mailed to you on 9/6/16. This will also help establish your access to files on SharePoint.
