• Seychelles has 84 000 inhabitants, mostly concentratedon the island of Mahe, where the capital is located.

• The archipelago was unoccupied until the sixteenthcentury, and currently its population is divided betweendescendants of French colonists, Indian immigrants,Africans and Chinese.

• For a country that relies in fishing as one of the major

industries, it is understandable to have fish and rice as its

main ingredients. Seychelles is also famous for its Creole

Cuisine. Influenced greatly by African, Chinese, English,

French and Indian cooking, Seychelles cuisine involves careful

mixing of spices putting just the right amount.

• Seafood dishes are predominantly featured in the local

cuisine. Fruits are also integral parts of Seychelles food.

• Bacca rum is one of the main alcoholic drinks and it´s made of

sugar cane. It is also forbidden to drink in public.
