Pilings were pounded into the ground 40 feet deep by a steam powered pile driver to create the foundation for the Transbay Terminal. Excavation of the four city block area began in 2011. Over 2000 Douglas Fir pilings were excavated from the site. Jackel Enterprises procured a number of the pilings and had them FSC Certified Recycled 100%. Much of the material has blue-grey and green-grey coloration on the outer layers due to absorption of the minerals in the moist soil of bay mud, marine sand, colma sand and old bay clay. The soil layers have been dated from the 1800’s back to the last ice age. We are offering milled material in 4/4 and 8/4 thicknesses x random width x lengths to 17’ Mixed Grain, Small Tight Knots.
