Souvenirs from Earth (SFE) is the first TV channel to transform

the viewer‘s screen into a terminal for an ever-changing and

inspiring art stream.

An ideal marriage of art, music, fashion and design, SFE

continues the brave ambitions of Nam June Paik‘s Art TV,

Andy Warhol‘s TV shows, and Brian Eno‘s ambient movement.

On air since September 2006, SFE today reaches more than 14

million households in Germany, France, and Austria through

cable television and the rest of the world through the

livestream at www.SFE.tv.

Most artists have their work online, either through personal

websites or hosting sites like Vimeo or Youtube, but

without active searching and prior knowledge of their name

there’s no way to find them. Using the linear format of

television, SFE provides the means for passive discovery

that artists and art-lovers alike are looking for- doing for

video art what MTV did for the music video.

The beauty of the channel is the ability to tune in anytime

and become immersed in art from all over the world-

including works that would have been impossible to come

acrsoss otherwise.

Rather than relying on dialogue and verbal

content, we focus on a universal visual language,

enabling us to broadcast simultaneously around the

world without any language barriers. The whole planet

shares the same program, allowing for events and film

debuts to be witnessed on a global scale and

introducing a new shared experience to the art world.

AVAILABLE THROUGH BOTH

TELEVISION AND ONLINE,

SFE BRINGS THE ART WORLD INTO TODAY’S DIGITAL AGE.With smartphones and screens everywhere in today’s society, SFE delivers art directlly into everyone’s hands and homes. Artists who struggle to be seen in galleries and museums now have an alternative means for making their work accessible to the public.

SFE’s high-quality content adapts to various locations, bringing art to new spaces. Avoiding the black hole of

an inactive screen, the channel provides a much needed

integration of non-intrusive visual entertainment into the

home. Thought provoking and conversational, the channel

transitions into a cost effective, clever, and stylish backdrop

for the ultimate social gatherings and parties.

2THECONTENT

souvenirs from earth

SFE presents videos by artists from all over the

world. No other medium or art platform has ever

shown the richness and diversity of visual culture

on a truly global scale. We broadcast famous artists

such as Tom Sachs, Bill Viola, and Julie Opie, as

well as emerging artists and young filmmakers. SFE

breaks down the elitist structure of television and

opens possibilities for inspiration from

underground cultures.

BROUGHT TO YOU IN THECOMFORT OF YOUR HOME

SFE features a variety of curated programs and constantly expands to incorporate exhibits and collections from

galleries and museums. Our current program UPSKIRT for example presents high-end fashion videos from the luxury

industry featuring brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Top Shop, and Iris Brosch. Our program TRIGGER presents

photography portfolios from all over the world. The SFE Universe is not limited to one genre and is constantly

striving to provide its audience with a diverse viewing experience.

2THECONTENT

SFE invites guest curators and institutions to organize

programs of their own within the channel. For example,

“Souvenirs from Mars” is the name of the broadcast from The

University of Marseille.

The uses of public-access television are endless; the

coordination of program broadcasts to coincide with and

promote gallery openings, museum exhibits, film festivals,

university art programs, and other events are a few

examples. Art universities all over the world will be able to

compare students work and inspire one another; people in

different countries can experience the art on display in

museums they wouldn’t have access to otherwise; and

foreign film festivals can take place in your living room.

SFE is constantly adding new content to the channel and encourages anyone to submit videos and program proposals to the channel at www.sfe.tv/submission.

Instead of hosting typical advertisements on the channel that

would disrupt the viewer’s experience, we seamlessly

incorporate sponsored art clips into our programming. These

clips are produced in-house by selected artists and through

partners, allowing us to maintain the integrity of the channel’s

content while also allowing partners to engage the art world and

SFE’s demographic. Numerous brands have already benefited

from our protected and highly focused platform, such as:

5 OUR AUDIENCE

souvenirs from earth

Program launch parties, such as the one shown here at our showroom in Palais de Tokyo, allow artists and

curators to socialize and showcase works in a gallery environment.

SFE promotes events and openings within the art world using the program WHITE NOISE and through social

media, giving the viewers a chance to interact with the channel in a more social way and allowing artists the op-

portunity to form collaborations within the SFE community.

5 OURAUDIENCE

As TV becomes saturated with advertisements, reality tv, mainstream reporting, and formulaic sitcoms, there is a growing population that has given up on TV, taking it upon themselves to search for entertainment and stimulation online. SFE appeals to this “anti-television” demographic by providing fresh, provocative content and highlighting the world’s counter-culture that is currently excluded from the limelight of television. The availability of our online lives-tream accomodates to those who prefer to watch on their laptops and allows broadcasts to attract viewers from all over the world.

With a base in the 18-35 age demographic and a growing faith from the 35-60 age group, the primary audience member is an international, educated, and informed consumer with an interest in the arts.
