Please note that school will be closed on Thursday, 11/22, & Friday, 11/23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
SHA will also be closed on Monday, 11/26, due to the Walkathon holiday. Enjoy your extra-long weekend & let the
shopping begin!
POINSETTIAS & MORE
It’s time for the annual SHA Christmas Plant Sale. There are many selections to choose from ranging from poinsettias
to wreaths and more. Please see Page 4 for the order form and more details. The order deadline is Tuesday,
November 27, and order pick up will be on Thursday, December 6. Please contact Kim or Shaun Keenen at 684-1273
or John Ahrens at 570-5687 with any questions.
COUPON BOOKS - LIMITED TIME ONLY!
SHA is proud to be selling the Elite 2013 Coupon Book this fall. There are great deals on restaurants, shopping,
entertainment, services, and family fun all adding up to savings in your wallet. Coupons in this book are good
through December 31, 2013 so you’ll be able to get your money's worth out of it. A copy of the participating
vendors is on Page 5. Books are $20 each; our school will earn $10 for each book sold. So this is a win-win for
everyone involved. The coupon books are on sale in the Main Office; checks can be made payable to Sacred
Heart Academy. Be sure to stop by and get your copy today and start your holiday shopping early!
CHRISTMAS DANCE
This year, the annual SHA Christmas Dance will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012. The dance will take place
from 7:00-10:00 pm, at the Hearthstone Manor on Dick Road in Depew. This semi-formal event is open to all SHA
students. Light snacks, desserts, and soft drinks will be served. Students may bring a date or come with their SHA
friends. Girls wear semi-formal party dresses (no need for prom-type gowns) and boys must wear dress pants, a shirt, and a tie.
Please note: It is not necessary to bring a date to this dance. Many students attend with their SHA friends. Also, it is
not necessary for students to hire limousines to bring them to the event.
Cost is $25 per person. Tickets will be on sale daily in the SHA Dining Hall from November 19 through December 17
during all lunch periods. Checks should be made payable to Sacred Heart Academy. Emergency contact
numbers for our students and their dates must also be given.
Also note: Students may not enter the dance after 8:00 pm unless special permission is given in advance (parental
note required); and everyone should be picked up at the Hearthstone no later than 10:15 pm.
JANUARY REGENTS EXAM SCHEDULE
A copy of the January 2013 Regents Exam schedule is on Page 6 for your information.
MANDATORY EUROPE TRIP MEETING
There is a mandatory meeting Thursday, November 29, at 7 pm in the SHA Dining Hall. A parent must attend with a
student participant.
GROVE CITY OUTLET SHOPPING TRIP WITH SHA
Do you want to shop on a holiday weekend without the hassle of fighting for a parking spot? Come and join us for
a bus tour and TAX FREE shopping spectacular at the Grove City, PA Premium Outlets. All parents, family, and friends
are invited to join us for this shopping adventure!
The Grove City Outlets have the reputation of being one of the top Outlet Centers in America. The huge shopping
center was listed by the Value Retail News in August 2005 in their list of 20 top rated Outlet Centers of the United
States. The Grove City Outlet houses more than 140 stores, specifically brand-named outlets. Large discounts offered
by the stores are the main feature, and it is considered a bargain shopper's paradise as a customer can realize saving
between 25% and 65% while shopping there. The various stores in the outlet offer all kinds of shopping including the
new Vera Bradley outlet. There is something for everyone in the mall.
We will leave the Key Bank parking lot (next to the Academy) on December 8 at 7:00 m and return to the lot at
10:00 pm. Cost is $40/person – based on full bus capacity. Lunch and dinner will be on your own either in the mall’s
food court, or one of the many nearby restaurants. However, reservations will be made for a group dinner at the
adjacent “Elephant and the Castle Restaurant”. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Eileen
Hettich at 834-2101 ext. 317 or [email protected] immediately – LOVE to have you join us on this
fun day!!!
SANDSTONE 2013
Please join us in the planning for the 7th annual Sandstone Party and Auction. Our first committee meeting will be
Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 7 pm in the Faculty Dining Room (2nd floor) – see Page 7 for more details.
We welcome any parent willing to help with this event to come. If you want to be involved, but cannot make the
first date, please contact Beth Montague at [email protected]. It takes the work of many for a
successful event!
DRIVING TO SHA
Does your daughter drive to SHA? If so, she needs to have the vehicle(s) she drives registered with the school. A
copy of the Driving Permission Slip for 2012-2013 is on Pages 8. This form must be completed every year so we can
assign your daughter a parking pass. Please send the completed forms to the Main Office, and your daughter will receive a window sticker parking pass. A parking map is on Page 9.
