Dowries Exchanged for Weddings for Baptista’s Princess's!

! We have finally heard news of dowries being exchanged between Baptista and Vincentio. These two respected men have been seen talking to each other also about the plans of the beautiful Bianca and Lucentio. They have been madly in love with each other and when Lucentio showed his love for her, she showed her affection towards him and they agreed on a marriage. Vincentio said, “ Sir, by your leave, having come to Padua to gather in some debts, my son Lucentio made me acquainted with a weighty cause of love between your daughter and himself.” (William Shakespeare. 4. 4. 25-28). Vincentio states the love of Lucentio towards Bianca.

! “Our love will never be broken,” states Lucentio after an interview from one of our staff members.

! There was big money exchanged between the two rich men. Vincentio was going to give 1/4 of his land to Bianca was to turn into a widow. Baptista was also talking about giving 1/4 of his land if Bianca were to die before Lucentio. Baptista kept asking Vincentio for more knowing how rich he was, but the wise man didn’t give him a penny more than what was needed. There were big disputes over the wedding location also but it was settled to be in Padua. Vincentio wanted it to be back at his place so he would be able to have it next to where he lives.

! Dowries that were exchanged was also thousands of crowns were also exchanged between the two rich men. This meant that Lucentio must have loved Bianca a lot for

exchanging dowries to Baptista.

! Kate didn’t look like she was going to find herself a husband but she did. Petruchio went right up to her to meet her after he heard she was a shrew and no one could tame her. There had been rumors of mistreatment towards Kate from Petruchio but no proof has been shown.

! The dowries for Kate were also quite impressive. No one thought that Kate would get married in the first place and when she did there were dowries that even Petruchio couldn’t afford to give.

! Petruchio lied about his dowries and now has to someway find a way to give it to Baptista when he has to. Somewhere around a thousand crowns and some land from Petruchio. When our interviewers asked him where he was going to get it all he replied, “I got this far and tamed the shrew. I think I’m going to make it through everything else.” He seemed to be very confident.

Tranio gets rid of Bianca’s Suitors and Leaves Lucentio to do his Magic!

Baptista: Two servants needed. One for cleaning up rooms and mopping floors. Another one for taking care of Bianca and her laundry. Both have to be male and have to have had experience.

Vincentio: Three servants needed. One for mopping up floors. Another one for traveling with him and carrying his luggage. One for cleaning the habiliments and putting them back in place.

Lucentio: One servant needed to help Biondello with his messenger work and also just being a good server when important guests arrive.

Grumio: One servant needed to help with chores done at home when Grumio is working. Needs to be good with woman and be able to do some heavy work.

Hortensio: One servant needed to help with carrying luggage for traveling far distances. Needs to be strong and able to carry heavy objects.

! The spectacular job of Tranio getting rid of the suitors of Bianca lets Lucentio do his wooing and grasp Bianca’s love for marriage. His great impersonation of Lucentio is exactly what both Biondello and Lucentio expected from Tranio. He got rid of Hortensio and told him to quit because it wasn’t worth it. He acted as if to also be one of the suitors and want to quit. His acting was first class. No one even expected him to be Tranio.

! It is nice to see that the servant and his master are so close together. Tranio acted like the perfect wingman for Lucentio and with him doing his wooing on Bianca, she couldn’t resist. Even though LUcentio hadn’t thought about the whole plan perfectly on how to get Vincentio to work out the dowries and how much he would have to give to be able to spend the rest of his life with Bianca, but love had struck him and he couldn’t resist. He dropped out of school just to be able to be with Bianca.

! After Vincentio seeing the love Lucentio had towards Bianca, he also agreed that they should be together. When we asked for Vincentio to react to what Lucentio had tricked him into, he didn’t care. Baptista asks if Lucentio has married Bianca without his content, Vincentio says, “Fear not, Baptista, we will content you. Go to..” (William Shakespeare. 5. 1. 138-139)Here he shows his love for his son.

Wrestling match between Petruchio and Katherine during wedding!Katherine is furious as Petruchio arrived very late and not prepared at the wedding.

esperately waiting for Petruchio, the bridegroom, to arrive at his wedding, Baptista Minola, father of the bride, Katherine meets up with Biondello and Lucentio. Suddenly, arrives Petruchio with his servent, Grumio. Baptista was surprised by the attitude of Petruchio, who was acting normal and wasn’t dressed at all for the wedding. “Why, sir, you know this is your wedding day. First were we sad, fearing you would not come, now sadder that you come so unprovided. Fie, doff this habit, shame to your estate, an eyesore to our solemn festival” (Shakespeare,Act 3, scene 2) spilled furiously Baptista.

Baptista and Grumio thought something wasn’t normal, Petruchio was acting strangely.

“And tell us what extraordinary occurrence made you so late for your wedding and drove you to present yourself in an outfit that’s so—not typical of you… He hath some meaning in his mad attire.” (Shakespeare, Act3, Scene 2) spilled Tranio after Baptista.Katherine is desperately waiting in her room with her sister, Bianca, while Baptista, Gremio and Tranio will persuade him to put something more appropriate before going to church in front of Katherine. Unfortunately, the ceremony already began and Petruchio was still wearing that ridiculous dress. For some, it turned out to be that Petruchio is the devil not Katherine by the way he acted at the ceremony.

Petruchio over-exaggerated when he suddenly announced at his wedding that he must leave for an emergency “Gentlemen and friends, I thank you for you. I know you think to dine with me today and have prepared great store of wedding cheer, but so it is, my haste doth call me hence, and therefore here I mean to take my leave…I must away today, before night come. Make it no wonder. If you knew my business, you would entreat me rather go than stay. And, honest company, I thank you all, that have beheld me give away myself to this most patient, sweet and virtuous wife. Dine with my father, drink a health to me, for I must hence, and farewell to you all,” (Shakespeare, Act 3, Scene 2), announced Petruchio in the middle of the ceremony. Petruchio did not accept when Petruchio, Gremio and Tranio asked him to stay. He also refused when Katherine begged him to stay, furious, Katherine starts to attack Petruchio,“Gentlemen, forward to the bridal dinner. I see a woman may be made a fool if she had not a spirit to resist” (Shakespeare, Act 3, Scene 2), but Petruchio fought back, it looked like a wrestling match, they both fought against each other, it was surprising for the guest to see the bridegroom fighting against the bride. (Act 3, Scene 2).It seems that Petruchio is making a mockery about his marriage.

uffian Petruchio is not taking his marriage seriously; he is making a mockery of it. He first wore a ridiculous dress to his own wedding, dragged Kate from the reception, got angry at the tailor and refused Kate’s new dress, got also angry at his servants, and now he is starving her, also taking away her hours of sleep. Petruchio is taming the shrew (Katherine)! Kate is exhausted and will soon give up. As she said to Grumio, their servant,

“ The more my wrong, the more his spite appears. What, did he marry me to famish me? Beggars that come unto my father’s door upon entreaty have a present alms.If not, elsewhere they meet with charity. But I, who never knew how to entreat, nor never needed that I should entreat, am starved for meat, giddy for lack of sleep, with oaths kept waking and with brawling fed. -------------------------------------------------------------------

And that, which spites me more than all these wants, he does it under name of perfect love, as who should say, if I should sleep or eat, 'twere deadly sickness or else present death. I prithee, go and get me some repast, I care not what, so it be wholesome food” (Shakespeare, Act 4, scene 3) as she is begging to Grumio to bring her food, Grumio is feeding her by saying the names of foods. It looks like Kate is not only tortured by Petruchio, but also her servant. Petruchio is over-exaggerating by being kind with her (torturing her with kindness). - (Act 4, Scene 3).

When Lucentio and Biance decided to get married Lucentio did not tell his dad about the love affair between Bianca and him. But before the wedding they need Babtista who is Biancas father, and Babtista had a rule that Kat who is Baincas older sister has to find a guy first before Bianca does or else she wont be able to marry or fall in love with anyone, so one of lucentios mates Pertuchio trys to tame Kat and trys to merry her so Bianca will be able to marry. But Kat is such a shrew and all the guys loathe her.

This whole time lucentio was trying to marry Bianca. As lucentio say “ ohh Bianca let merry this instant.” So wants Pertuchio really has his hands on Kat, and can really control that shrew, He was going to marry her so lucentio can move along and merry Bianca which was the plane from the very beginning, it was all a process it took time since Kat had mood swings constantly threw the day everyday, But Petruchio actually tamed the Shrew. And was gonna marry Kat.

When Lucentoio goes out and trys to find a father that will act good to persuade Babtista on saying yes to the marriage, so lucentio takes and random guy one the streets and says “hey can you be my father for my wedding”, and the strange old man said yes, When he was straight up, and looking at Babtistas face he did not get scared or blow it off, he stayed focused and did a really good job, He persuaded, Babtista and he said yes. Lucentio thanked the guy, and Was so exited to finally be Married to the most gorgeous girl in town

Everything was going great, the wedding was excepted by Babtista and Kat and Petruchio seemed to do well, till they were walking somewere and Kat and Petruchio bumb into Babtista, and shout out “ Your son is Marrying my sister today.” No one could tell if he Had a smile on His face or he was so mad.

This all started to come together, Lucentio and Bianca were happy, I guess Petruchio and Kat were Happy. And how about his dad, Will he cancel the wedding or will he be happy for Lucentio?
