VEDA PATASHALA &YAGYASHALA

The Vedas that Constitute the Scripture common to alland which reveal the Godhead that is common to usalso teach, us, how to lead, our life, and this isimportant they do us the ultimate good by showing usin the end the way to become that very Godheadourselves. They are our refuge both here and thehereafter and are the source and root of all ourdifferent traditions all our systems of throught. Allsects, all schools of thoughts, our religion, have theirorigin in Vedas. The Root is one but the branches aremany. The Vedas are the source not only for the variousdivisions of Hinduism, but also for all the religions ofthe world that may be traced back to them.

The Vedas (Sanskrit veda, Knowledge) are a largebody of texts originating in ancient India. Composedin Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer ofSanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures ofHinduism. The Vedas are apauruSeya ( not of humanagency). They are supposed to have been directlyrevealed, and thus are called sruti(what is heard),them from other religious texts, which are calledsmrti.( what is remembered).

The Vedic texts or sruti are organized around four canonical collections of merical material knows asSamhitas, of which the first three are related to the performance of yahna (sacrifice) in historical Vedicreligion:

The Rigveda, containing hymns to be recited by the hotar, or presiding priest;

The Yajurveda, containing formulas to be recited by the adhvaryu or officiating priest;

The Samveda, containing formulas to be sung by the udgatar or priest that chants;

The fourth is the Atharvaveda, a collection of spells and incantations, apotropaic charms and speculativehymns.

GOSHALA

Goshalas are an Indian from ofprotective shelters for cows. Goshalas

focus on treating cows well out of theirreligious significance in Hinduism andconsequent cultural sensitivity towardsits welfare.

Goshala or Gaushala, a Sanskrit word(Go, means cow and Shala meansa shelter place: Go + Shala= shelterfor cows), means the abode orsanctuary for cows, calves and oxen.

Apart from providing sanctuary, theGoshala also rescues the animalsdestined for illegal slaughter.
