Page 15: Shantikunj Presentation 30 Jan 2011

The school is located in a rural area where most of the parents cannot read and write and emphasis is not on education.

Low affordability - fees have to be kept low..

Our target is to develop rural children in such a manner that they are able to converse in English with the right accent , like their city counterparts in, 3 years’ time.

They should move with the same poise, confidence and smartness like city children

In addition to class room teaching we use the following tools to enhance learning :

• Balwadi and Jr KG are shown children movies in English (like on Hanuman, Bheema etc)

• For Sr Kg and I Std students, we have audio visual teaching using a overhead projector.

• For II & III Std students we promote the use of computers to learn and give tests on the computer , properly supervised by the teacher.

• All children undergo learning of English language by using Linguafone method

JEEVOTTAM MEDICAL FOUNDATION. A full - fledged hospital building (with built up area of 24,000 sq.ft.)

has been constructed for providing medical services to the people in

and around the nearby village. Laxmi Eye Institute, a renowned eye

care institution at Panvel has set up a rural centre at the hospital on

the ground floor. The next two floors of the hospital are not being

utilized presently.

We plan to have a multi disciplinary consultation centre as well as a

Nursing School.

Laxmi Eye Clinic. One floor of the building has been handed over to Laxmi Eye

Clinic and Research Centre for charitable work.

carries out therapy for eye maladies including cataract

Lot of work is needed to be done in this area of medical and health care.

One of the idea is to start a Rural Health Centre in collaboration with A Medical College. The proposed facility would work to give free treatment to the local Rural population as well as the residents of our complex.

Some proposals are being considered and would be finalized after due.deliberations are over.

We believe that there is tremendous value to be unlocked in Shantikunj Sevashram Complex.

This first class property built due to tireless efforts of Late Mr. Vaman Kamath has tremendous potential to serve the poor and the needy.

New Panvel is rapidly growing and the land has become very precious.. Building a complex of this kind today would involve an outlay of more than Rs 30 Crore.

Our effort is to clearly chart a future course of action so that the facilities at the complex can be put to best use.

Ideas are welcome with proposals for use of this complexIn line with the original vision.
