Tentative Dates: June 28th – July 1st
Goal is to train 10 Fenger staff as Boys Town Consultants to provide coaching and support around Well Managed Classroom.
Reviewed two areas of Focus with Boys Town trainers on May 12th: Teaching Skills and Adult Modeling of Behavio r
Areas of focus for 2010-2011 Goal Statement: By the end of the year, students
will demonstrate mastery of the 16 BT skills. Objectives:
◦ (1) Coaching/Peer observations during prep time◦ (2) Use tangible incentives when students use BT skills◦ (3) Student led interventions
i.e. Use peer jury to reinforce skills via peer influence PALS/PROS
◦ (4) Incorporating social skills into every classroom/school wide curriculum
◦ (5) Communicate info re: BT skills with parents/community via website, phone calls, letters home Use report card pick up as “demonstration day”- all staff are
required to demonstrate the skill Make announcements over the PA system
Area of focus for 2010-2011 Goal Statement: All adults will model the 16 BT skills and
increase the use of BT strategies by ____by the end of the year. (Boys Town Trainers will give baseline)
Objectives◦ (1) Re-teach and practice BT skills and strategies with staff
during common planning period and PD◦ (2) Develop a Mission and Vision re: Culture and Climate◦ (3) Skill of the month
BT skills posted in every classroom throughout school BT skills should be visible next to daily classroom objectives Utilize ISPD/ASPD/BSPD to teach skill of the month
◦ (4) BT protocol for special events Skill demonstration day

For individual practitioners, Umoja University is a four-day professional development conference where schools and community organizations from across the city participate in workshops that enable them to build a positive, youth-centered school culture. For school teams, this rich five-day conference results in an ongoing relationship which provides additional support in three distinct phases:
Phase 1: Spring Strategic Planning
Phase 2: Attendance at Umoja University
Phase 3: Ongoing Umoja University Follow Up and Support
