About sharing..

1. Aknin, Hamlin and Dunn published research paper in 2012 titled ‘Giving Leads to Happiness in Young Children’. In its findings is said that..

“..the present study finds that before the age of two, toddlers exhibit greater happiness when giving treats to others than receiving treats themselves.”

“Further, children are happier after engaging in costly giving – forfeiting their own resources – than when giving the same treat at no cost.”

“..this research provides initial support for the claim that experiencing positive emotions when giving to others is a proximate mechanism for human cooperation.”

2. In 2012, Aknin, Dunn and Norton found that ‘Happiness runs in a circular motion: Evidence for a positive feedback loop between prosocial spending and happiness’.

“..Participants assigned to recall a purchase made for someone else reported feeling significantly happier immediately after this recollection; most importantly, the happier participants felt, the more likely they were to choose to spend a windfall on someone else in the near future.”

Though sharing is a phenomenon as old as humankind, its present manifestations include collaborative consumption and the “sharing economy” - both phenomena born of the Internet age and fastly growing.

So how could Community Councils utilize the Internet and mobile tech to promote and

facilitate sharing in real life in its area?

...and so to improve their neighborhood, strengthen the community, grow social capital and to empower

individual residents etc.!

-Is a vital pathway for the Community Councils to take improve what they do
