Sharing of strategies, projects, showcases Use of the tool Check the Integrated Approach for a specific project Launching event Finland 11 April 2013 The city profile of Blue City virtual city of RFSC Secretariat for demonstration purposes of showcases, strategies and projects Make your city profile when you want to learn from and share with other cities Name Country City website Short description City size Place of your city on the map is done automatically some simple characteristics of your city do not forget, you can always modify Add a showcase Open to fill in information and copy information in General information (A-I) How organised (A-II) Achievements and results (A-III) Lessons learned (B) Link showcase to most relevant key objectives of integrated and sustainable development (C) Contact details (D) Fill in your showcase in a template and submit Showcases submitted for validation should: in English, precise and complete related to several of the 25 key objectives of the RFSC (integrated approach) show some (preliminary) results; no practices in the planning stage only see the criteria in the user guide After validation (2 weeks) your showcase will appear in the catalogue of showcases and can inspire other cities Catalogue of showcases Simple search engine (Google- like) Now in the RFSC almost 30 showcases from the testing phase ( ) Soon many more showcases will be available Check regularly the catalogue of showcases validated and visible for other cities not validated yet or not in sharing status Check the integrated approach of our harbour modernisation plan The Harbour (the Norfolk Terrain, Second Harbour and Havenkwartier Noord) is being developed into a mixed area for living, working and leisure. The Municipality will make substantial investments over the coming years to modernise the harbour (refurbishment of quays, boost fishing industry, new houses, cable car, a new art museum). The final plans for the harbour are less ambitious than the plans presented prior to the economic crisis. Blue Citys overview of strategies and projects (dashboard) share with other cities or not (yet) use comment fields actively Check on all 25 key objectives of sustainable and integrated urban development comment field Use of comments field Helps with selecting priorities and decide about impact Arguments for the score and judgement Stimulate exchange of arguments and communication with team members and stakeholders Source of evaluation, score and judgement (e.g. City Master Plan, page ) Reminder to look up things at a later stage Reminder to talk with chef, deputy mayor, mayor et cetera about the objectives, priorities, commitment et cetera Comment field: - interpretation of results - next steps - etc. Type of conclusions and further actions The main priorities of our harbour modernisation are focusing on economic objectives The Plan does not show an integrated approach ? The Harbour Modernisation Plan only helps for nine of the 25 key objectives of sustainable and integrated urban development. The Plan is rather balanced and integrated ? The objectives that are positively influenced are important. So even at this stage the Plan is attractive. Start discussions with other departments to improve and broaden the Plan. All options should be used. Check with staff members of other department the priorities chosen. May be they see benefits in the Harbour Modernisation that we did not yet took into consideration add reasons, give explanations, ask questions, discuss with others The restaurants, shops and leisure activities will attract more traffic than the old harbour and its old industrial facilities Interdependencies: ideas about possible conflicts, synergies, trade-offs interpretation, conclusions, recommendations, next steps etc. Example of comment It is clear from the results obtained with the RFSC that the main objectives of the Harbour Modernisation Plans are economic. The social objectives are only improve housing, public space and the attractiveness of the area. The negative impact on emissions and air pollution does not show in the final profile of results, because this negative impact is "compensated" by the positive impact on other environmental objectives (biodiversity, improve built environment). Start discussing with other departments and deputy mayor to strengthen the plan. Although, politically the deputy mayor can "sell" this plan as rather integrated. share with other cities or not yet See for more demonstrations of strategies, projects and tools our website training material available
