Introduction

● Were a light cavalry and compose mainly by foreign mercenaries at first

● During the “transition period” during mid-1500s was transformed into Heavy Hussars

● Were recruited from wealthier Polish and Lithuanian Nobility

● Never lost a single battle for the first 125 years● And of course, have wings on their back

● Battle of Lubiszew (Danzig rebellion)○ Danzig Army: 10k - 12k soldier including 800

cavalry, 7 cannons○ Polish - Lithuanian: 1k infantry and 1k3 cavalry○ Result:

■ Danzig Army: 4420 killed and 5k captured■ Polish - Lithuanian: 88 casualties and 100

wounded

● Battle of Kircholm○ Swedish force: 10k8 men, 11 cannon plus

thousands of reinforced of German and Dutch Mercenaries

○ Polish - Lithusnian: 1300 infantry and 2600 cavalry○ Result:
