Welcome. With the inaugural edition of SHAW Journal, a journey has now begun. For this, the entire collective of SHAW Group people thank you.

With over two decades of advertising, marketing and sales experience behind the stations of the SHAW offices, our innovating minds discovered a hole in todays beckoning publication market. How can the production of ink and paper be enjoyed by all?

It is human nature to gain pleasure in all that is attractive and entertaining. Luxury is accelerated by the notion of high levels of formation. But is prestige property a child of both? Not quite. In this, we have combined the upper echelon of Queensland's real estate opportunities with the luxury lifestyle that accompanies it, to produce the journal that sits within your grasp. Enjoy!

ARE YOUCONSCIOUS Of YOUR SURROUNdS?Caroline de Lore explores new age holistic interior design inside the home

Unless you have been living under a rock for these past few years, you

would certainly realise the world is shifting dramatically. On every level of our existence it seems, our little blue planet is moving and shaking. And while there is so much political unrest, economic shake-up and humanitarian atrocity too awful to speak of, there is just as much positive change taking place.

One such direction we are moving in is becoming conscious of the cost of our lifestyles on the planet and our awakening to new and beautiful ways of living within our environment, which contribute to it rather than destroy it. This evolution in how we live is empowering us to become conscious of the impact of our decisions on the earth and each other and to look at

design from a holistic perspective.Enter conscious and holistic interior

design.Conscious design is just that – being

aware of every aspect of how and what you are using in your home; of what contributes to your health and what doesn’t, and the difference you can make to both your inner and outer environment through your choices. Holistic design is where the whole and each of its counterparts are considered. In terms of interior and spatial design, holistic design considers the whole of a space and the whole of the person within the space. Conscious and holistic design can and should apply to all interiors and spaces.

This unique approach to design stands for the recognition of the need to

that have more character and beauty over manufactured ones, decorate our homes with what we have found, collected and love versus what is in fashion, and pay actual attention to what we put in homes and how it affects our health and wellbeing, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Our environment is an extension and reflection of ourselves, our energy; and bringing design back to a holistic approach enables us to be one with our surroundings.

take interior environments to a new level where we are conscious of the impact our immediate space has on us. Using environmentally sustainable materials and holistic space practices, the focus is creating beautiful, natural and health supporting environments which are a sensory experience and a new way of living.

The ultimate expression of this concept is creating your space as a sanctuary, a place where body, mind and soul are nourished and restored; a truly tranquil space achieved through mindful selection of elements of the environment surrounding you. Spaces become uplifting and health supporting visually, emotionally, physically and energetically.

Holistic interior design includes using natural and sustainable materials, Feng

Shui, Wabi Sabi, EMF reduction, sacred space practices, earthing practices and organic living principles, and considers how each of these elements affects the health and wellbeing of both people and the greater environment.

Conscious and holistic interior design provides the solution to the ever increasing need to address health problems caused by our indoor environments, and the need for a sustainable answer for designing for future.

Finally, we are on our way out of a world of environmental ignorance, throw-everything-away-and-get-a-new-one, thinking that our environment has no impact on our health and how we feel, ridiculous seasonal fashion for interiors. We are discovering that we can recycle, reuse and repurpose, use natural materials

Space does not have to be your enemy.

With a clever combination of design and product, you are not the only one to benefit.

TImINg ThE qUEST fOR pRECISIONIn a new landmark for Jaeger-leCoultre, three gems emerge

Sublimating mechanics. Arousing emotions and expectations. Desire and fascination.

Such are the substantial daily challenges undertaken by the artisans of the Manufacture Jaeger-leCoultre. All experts in their respective arts, they unite their talents in composing the most remarkable symphonies. Jewellers, enamellers, guilloché specialists, engravers and watchmakers have the gift of creating a subtle alchemist’s blend of techniques and aesthetics, form and substance, gear wheels and decorative motifs, infusing each watch with soul and passion. Like an open book revealing the mysteries of artistry, the new models introduced in 2011 tell the magical tale of an encounter between human beings, beauty and time.

❱ Master Grande Tradition à Tourbillon 43Driven by Jaeger-leCoultre Calibre 978, the Master Tourbillon laid a prestigious milestone in the history of horological accuracy by winning the Chronométrie 2009 International Timing Competition organised by the Watch Museum of Le Locle. The Grande Maison now proudly presents a new model equipped with this already legendary calibre, the Master Grande Tradition à Tourbillon. This timepiece brilliantly combines the traditional know-how of a Manufacture dedicated to the quest for precision since its founding in 1833, and a spirit of innovation illustrated by the development of avant-garde technical solutions. Featuring a 43mm case crafted in platinum or pink gold and an understatedly elegant design that has become the hallmark of Jaeger-leCoultre creations, the Master Grande Tradition à Tourbillon embodies thetriumph of precision expressed in an inimitably legible manner. The Master Grand Tourbillon. RRP$91,900.

Page 11: SHAW Journal Edition 1

❱ Master Lady Tourbillon 39A soft silhouette, sensual curves, innate elegance. In the subtle game of seduction, the new Master Lady collection appears arrayed in its finest adornments. Its timeless shape tames the passing hours in an endlessly dancing circle. The size of the case clothed in steel, pink gold or white gold is adjusted to fit the daintiest wrists. A line of brilliant-cut diamonds highlights its profile flowing through to the lugs. The latter appear in an eminently slender new aesthetic that further accentuates the femininity of this model. An inverted diamond punctuates the crown like an offering placed on the altar of time. The gem-set bezel lights up a refined face swept over by generous bevelled hands. While the chapter ring features rounded contemporary numerals, the dial is adorned with a central circular guilloché motif, or a marquetry-work pattern of mother-of-pearl, diamonds or feathers. Beneath the grace and purity radiating from these models, fitted with a satin strap or a gem-set gold bracelet, beats a mechanical automatic heart crafted in harmony with the finest Haute Horlogerie traditions.

❱ Duomètre à ChronographeAcclaimed recent accomplishments such as the Gyrotourbillon I, the Master Minute Repeater and the Reverso grande complication à triptyque – the world’s most complicated wristwatch – have borne eloquent testimony to the technical inventiveness of Jaeger-leCoultre, setting the seal on its extraordinary renown within the highly selective field of Haute Horlogerie complications. The Manufacture maintains this intensive pace of innovations with the unveiling of a new collection, the Duomètre, and the presentation of this model in the line, the Duomètre à Chronographe. The latter’s distinctive styling and unprecedented technical features clearly place it in the most exclusive echelons of watchmaking fine art. This genuine micromechanical revolution houses a new-generation Calibre 380,

nicknamed “Dual-Wing”. Two independent mechanisms respectively serve to drive the time display and an additional function, while a single shared regulating organ ensures chronometer-worthy operating precision without having to renounce the use of a complication. As the first representative of the new lineage, Calibre 380 is the first chronograph mechanism with no coupling-clutch, offering peerless time-measurement precision and read-off to the nearest one-sixth of a second. Housing this movement and endowed with a new case featuring welded lugs and a finely grained dial, the Duomètre offers a superlative reinterpretation of a great watchmaking classic.

You may be mistaken for not having heard of the fragrance house Amouage

before, for this we exonerate you. On Australian shores, this luxurious label sits perched atop price lists in only leading perfumeries as title holder of our most expensive scent. Thanks largely to it’s hand-made crafting, budgets were left on the marketing room floor as container design – infused with gold leaf; perfumers – leading fragrance chemists that have undergone decades of professional training and education; and ingredients – formulated around religious Oman methodology that apply frankincense and myrrh, combine to deliver the highest in quality.

But what is delivered for such a price tag? Enter Creative Director Christopher Chong.

‘Honour’ is Chong’s latest scented chapter in the epic tale of Amouage, described as “a duo of romantic fragrances that speak of hidden identities and faded

memories of love.” Originating from Giacomo Puccini’s opera act Madame Butterfly, the collection leads the wearer on a journey in search for the most coveted of qualities (and namesake)…honour.

Honour Woman in a theatrical notion, represents the secret desires for attachment, danger and a tragic discourse of love. The scent however, presents a floral masterpiece with top notes of pepper, rhubarb and coriander; heart notes of jasmine, gardenia and lily; and base notes of frankincense, amber and leather.

The male equivalent, Honour Man, is formulated from the underlying allusion to truth and beauty within the opera, with top notes of black pepper; heart notes of geranium and nutmeg; and base notes of frankincense, cedarwood and musk.

As The gift of Kings, Amouage embodies a signature accord that cultivates the ultimate luxury of uniqueness and

distinction. Stemming from an extraordinary history with origins in the Sultanate of Oman and the rarity of the ingredients used in each meticulous creation, prestigiousness is paramount.

Sought after by the most sophisticated and discerning clientele from around the world, Amouage represents a lifestyle desired by many including international celebrities, global leaders and royalty, and is sold in the most prestigious boutiques and department stores around the world including the Roja Dove Haute Perfumerie in Harrods in London, Bergdorf Goodman in New York City, Galeries Lafayette in Paris and now on Australian shores.

Restoring artistry to perfumery by creating the most beautiful and evocatively fragrant scents possible, that is Amouage’s legacy.

SPECTACULAR DISPLAY PACKAGE A RECORD FOR BRISBANE

With the initial release complete, Mirvac exceeds expectations yet again

first Park display apartment, the jewel in the crown was the $8.75 million Riverhouse on level one in first stage Pier.

This ‘super apartment’ comprises four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, two living areas, a study, a four car private garage, exclusive private swimming pool, full home automation featuring electric blinds, lighting, music and security. It also has a private lobby, climate controlled cellar, lavish kitchen with butler’s pantry, Miele appliances and features natural stone and timber.

“The Riverhouse is surrounded on three sides by water and actually appears to float over the water,” he said.

The $1 billion Waterfront Newstead luxury residential development on the Brisbane

River, north of the city centre, is a ‘must see’ for any prospective apartment purchasers with more than $20 million worth of superb display apartments now complete and open for viewing by appointment.

National publicly listed real estate and development company Mirvac says the number and standard of display apartments now open to inspect at Waterfront Newstead has never been delivered before in any one Brisbane development.

Mirvac spokesman Matthew Wallace said that of the five Pier display apartments and

“There isn’t another riverfront apartment like it in Brisbane – it’s really something quite unique.”

The apartments on display at Waterfront Newstead include the Pier Riverhouse, Pier penthouse 650 on the market for $6.875m, Pier apartment 512 priced at $2.5m, Pier apartment 1041 priced at $2.6m Pier apartment 421 priced at $3.35m and finally Park apartment 14 priced at $1.27m.

Mr Wallace said the five individual Pier apartments provided a wide variety for the prospective apartment buying public to consider.

“All of our apartments in Pier are of a

premium quality in terms of finishes and fittings,” he said.

“However a lot of work went into making sure the apartments were unique in terms of floorplans and finishes and not simply more of the same.

“Our Pier purchasers want properties that are individual and personal to them and the five displays on offer simply present the wonderful alternatives that exist in the project.

“The Riverhouse and penthouse 650 represent the largest and most expensive apartments available whilst 512, 1041 and 421 represent everything from the entry level apartments to our unique courtyard apartments perfectly suited to entertainers.”

Penthouse 650 is situated on level five of Pier South and comprises four bedrooms, two living areas and a study. It is 509 square metres in size and features a gas fireplace, a wine cellar and large balconies overlooking the river.

Apartment 421 is located on level two of Pier South and comprises three bedrooms,

two living areas, 2.5 bathrooms and is 250 square metres in size.

Apartment 512 is located on level one in Pier South, features three bedrooms and one living area and is 291 square metres in size. It is a courtyard style apartment and boasts two outdoor entertainment areas plus uninterrupted river and lake views.

Apartment 1041 in located on level four in Pier North and has three bedrooms, two living areas, 2.5 bathrooms and two carparks. It is 266 square metres in size.

The latest display apartment to be delivered is a three bedroom, single living apartment on level five of the Park apartments, the second project stage at Waterfront.

Park is set for completion this winter and this new display will provide a further alternative but also a wonderful example of the lifestyle that is on offer in this emerging precinct. In recent months there have been in excess of $4 million in sales finalized in Park and now all the one bedroom apartments have been sold. There are a

limited number of two and three bedroom apartments remaining.

Current there is also a leasing campaign underway for a number of retail tenancies on ground level underneath Park and overlooking the parkland which is a feature of Waterfront Newstead. These tenancies could include a restaurant, a deli, a wine cellars, a coffee shop or a gourmet bakery and it is expected that they will be leased in the near future.

Mr Wallace said Waterfront Newstead was virtually a new Brisbane suburb in the making.

“Because we have a little more than 10 hectares of land and more than 300 metres of river frontage we have been able to plan a wide variety of apartment styles which will appeal to all sectors of the apartment buying market,” he said.

“The apartment displays epitomise the style and standard of living that is offered in such an upmarket residential environment. “Anyone considering apartment living should not make a decision until they have viewed these display apartments. Their location at Waterfront, Newstead is unlike any other address in Brisbane.

Mirvac will progressively develop Waterfront Newstead over the next decade and in-line with market demand.

When once upon a time Brisbane was built up with 'aged' buildings, it is now

home to some of Australia's most historically beautiful architecture and like a fine wine, it just keeps getting better as the years pass.

A city that combines both old and new, art and business, culture and life is a rare find to say the least. The beauty of a city such as Brisbane is not everyone has caught onto the raw potential she holds. With the housing market in Sydney and Melbourne at saturation point, those who are thinking of making the move are beginning to understand what the talk is all about. Great climate, great work, great value with beauty. What more could you ask for? Perhaps the perfect glass of wine in a restaurant perched on a second story as the sun sets, watching the evening below awaken? Yes please.

This great exodus has moved some of the great culinary minds in our willing direction ready to embrace and enjoy the flow of Champagne instead of 'bubbles', Cape Mental Zinfandel instead of 'House Red" and

I ❤ BNE... lOCAl WINE

Anna Scripps discovers that the best drop in Australia may be right under our very nose after all

Caprioska instead of rum and coke. The education that accompanies a bottle of great Champagne such as the Bollinger Grande Ann has also followed into Brisbane's embracing arms awaking the dormant want of consumable beauty we all crave.

With autumn fast approaching there's no better time to stock the cellar for crisp nights on the river and eventually those clear winter nights amongst the stars. Australia is one of the oldest wine growing countries in the Southern Hemisphere and has the goods to back that title. There is nothing I am yet to experience that rivals sitting on the balcony during an Autumn evening enjoying some of Australia's best.

Penfolds being the grandfather of all Australian wines (established in 1844), has some of the oldest vines in the country. If you ever want to experience the true flavour of Australia, don't go past a Penfolds 1988 Grange. For the warmer evenings, look no further than a bottle of 2005 Henschke Lenswood Giles Pinot Noir. The Adelaide

Hills seasonal swings during 2005 meant that the vineyard received above average yields and with the quality of the 2005 vintage, it is sure to be ranked one of the best on record.

With the tropical summer rains truly taking hold the past few seasons, nothing brightens the soul like a bottle of 2000 De Bortoli Noble One desert wine when paired with lychee sorbet or almond tart with fresh berries and mascarpone. The De Bortoli Noble One is one of Australia's most awarded wines and with good reason. This wine is beautifully layered and textured with bursts of apricot and quince accompanied by a beautiful base tone of vanillin oak. This wine could be a desert in its self and with melts perfectly into any occasion.

Much like an ever-growing city, these fine wines will progress and develop with age, bringing untold enjoyment and opportunity to the investor and like a quality investment, these wines will give a spectacular surprise if given the patience and time to mature.

World Champion, Valentino Rossi, who moved from Yamaha to Ducati in 2011 and struggled immediately with his confidence in tyre grip and chassis.

It seemed 2011 was full of promise with two proven champions riding together, a Pit Crew Chief in Jeremy Burgess that has won more championships than any other and a bike that was at the head of the field

only a few years ago. In the media, the blame was placed on bike rather than riders, more specifically the carbon fibre, monocoque frame which they have now replaced with a more

2011 was a year to forget for Ducati in MotoGP. The Ducati MotoGP

Desmosedici bike was inconsistent and frightening to ride at the edge. It was only three years ago that Casey Stoner was winning races with ease and Ducati was unbeatable in straight line speed. Those days are long gone. The field caught up with technology advancements with a host of new riders eager to showcase their talents. This made for a wealth of competition in the sport and a group of riders that could take out a race on any given day. Even the nine-time

conventional and adjustable aluminium alloy frame. This was to be the year that Ducati reclaimed the throne in the sport of the crazy and daring; but it wasn't to be. What really happened was a year full of set-backs, internal fighting and a bike that wasn't progressing forward with tests for different setups whilst the other teams like Yamaha and Honda were beating them convincingly. It was a year to forget for Ducati with only a handful of podium finishes and no wins. However, 2012 is upon us and there appears to be a change in the winds in Bologna where Ducati is made.

45.

What made things even worse is that Ducati have controversially chosen to stop support for the World Superbike Championship and withdrawn the factory bike's leaving only the satellite that Ducati's currently competing with. The move was a bold one since Ducati dominated the World Superbike title in 2011 when Carlos Checa finally produced results to match his undeniable talent. It does show more commitment to the MotoGP team and more focus on production models.

On the track, Ducati have been working hard throughout the winter testing on the Desmosedici with initial outcomes having been very positive. Naturally the bike is quicker since the new rules in MotoGP allow the manufacturer to go from 800cc to 1000cc. Also, developments have started on the new seamless clutch gearboxes that allow more rapid gear changes and weigh significantly less then previous gearboxes. Other advancements in electronics, ABS brakes, carbon fibre, aluminium frame and chassis design is improving the bike's character and all this is making for an exciting 2012 MotoGP season.

One might think that all this new and developed technology for the Ducati was only going to the Desmosedici race bikes and future replicas but Ducati have unleashed the style and chic to create a stunning masterpiece that we will see on the streets in the next few months.

It is unfathomable to think how Ducati could improve on the outright style and street creditability of the current 1198 RR. Well they have and it is in the form of the 1199 Panigale. Ducati motorbikes have always had sex appeal but this is something else. In the recent EICMA International Motorcycle show in Milan, the Panigale was convincingly voted the "Most beautiful bike of show", attracting a massive 53.4% of the votes and it is not hard to see why. The bike is a design marvel from every aspect and an instant classic in motorcycling heritage.

It is not just the style that has come

along way, but under the body, everything has been totally redesigned and improved. Reading the specifications for the bike will send an instant shiver down your spine. The bike has a mind-boggling 143KW at an insane 10,750RPM which is a little character building for a rider. The 1199 is 15Kg's lighter than the previous 1198 (Panigale is 188Kg's kerb weight) thanks to aluminium chassis, a fair amount of carbon fibre and magnesium alloy casting covers, cylinder heads and oil pan. The bike has 25HP more grunt too which makes it the most powerful V-twin superbike currently on the market. Ride-by-wire technology has made it's way over to the bike world and Ducati has taken to this producing great throttle response and smoother acceleration. It also sounds like a raging inferno which makes you wonder if the thing is burning fuel or felines.

The dash on Ducati's have always been a step ahead of the competition but the Panigale 1199 has pushed the gap even further. It is clean, futuristic and most importantly, easy to read no matter which weather condition you are riding. With the authorities going overboard with speed camera's in recent years, you wont be donating money to the government in sums of old. A new edition to bikes are the use of LED headlights which Ducati have taken to like a duck to water. Too often, LED light's look like after market add-on fitted in the home 'workshop' but the Panigale's are integrated and bring a unique aggressiveness to the front end. The under-floor exhaust gives the bike more balance and makes it a precision cornering monster. It is also the first production sports bike to have electronically adjustable suspension. This is exaggerated by wider bars and more front loaded weigh design producing ample grip around the twisty bits.

Australia's multiple WSBK Champion, Troy Bayliss jumped on-board the Panigale and posted a second quicker lap time on this bike around Mugello than on his

2008 WSBK winning Ducati, which he immediately tweeted to his avid followers, "...in street form, nothing will come close". The main competitors on the Panigale are BMW's 1000 RR, Aprilia RSV 4 and the MV Agusta F4 RR. All are razor-sharp, cutting edge street weapons with the but commendable credentials but BMW is leading in global sales.

Although a sales war against BMW for the upmarket bike still rages on and a forgettable 2011 MotoGP campaign behind them, the Ducati brand is looking increasingly positive with a new weapon in their arsenal for the adrenaline seeking enthusiasts.

The burgeoning world of high end cycling and the equipment that

accompanies it is ever present in the streets of early morning Brisbane. With the latest offering from the specialist Italian firm Pinarello just landed, we discover exactly where your $17,499 goes and why you absolutely must have it.

The Dogma 2 is the pinnacle of Pinarello’s lineup; the exact bike Sky professional racing team is riding this year. Within that team, Mark Cavendish – arguably the fastest man to have ever donned the saddle of a bike. So what is it that makes this bike the choice of not only the fastest man in the world but in such demand that retailers can hardly keep up with enquiry?

Pinarello says they’ve taken the asymmetry to new levels with the Dogma 2, stating one big change is in the top tube. It’s been moved slightly off-center towards the right side of the bike to further the effort towards equilibrium. In addition to this, Pinarello addressed another area for potential improvement – the aerodynamics and stiffness of the front end of the bike. The result for the end user is a 19% boost in front end stiffness to give you more predictable braking and a more precise steering frame. In an effort to enhance

the physical beauty of the machine, Pinarello have run all cabling internally which in combination with other minor adjustments, make for an a substantial 6% improvement in the aerodynamic efficiency of the frame. The carbon fiber

used has been built to withstand 60 tons per square inch, the strongest ever to be used in a Pinarello. Only when you are close enough to touch it are you able to discern the subtle differences to the previous Dogma model and are an astonishing feat to the truly afflicted. The preceding particulars will be duly noted to the avid racer, however with a substantial improvement to comfort and to the sheer speed available, enhancing the performance of even the most novice rider will also be evident. The Dogma 2 has been made available in thirteen different colour schemes and twelve sizes

let alone the wheel and group set options to customize your new

piece of rolling art.All facts aside, roll up on

one of these at your local criterium or café and your fellow racers or professional associates will be afflicted with a severe case of envy.

Owning the pinnacle of the Pinarello professional race bike

series for race or leisure use is a status achieved within the tightly knit community and a form of eye candy seldom offered for under $20,000.
