Terms and Conditions: 1. Pricing:

Pricing listed below is ONLY for sheds up to 6x9 metres. Due to the additional requirements of cabling, cable support as well as any access equipment possibly required for larger sheds, additional charges may be added. Sheds larger then 6x9 metres will require quoting unless agreed upon before installation.

2. Underground/Overhead Sub-Main’s (Power to Shed): For all new shed installations power will be required from the property. If a pre-existing structure is located on the property with a power connection, Apex Contracting (QLD) may be able to access this power. This cost of trenching is not included in the pricing below and will require quoting before the shed has been fitted with any deals listed below. If no existing power service is connected to the property a third party and additional works may be required. Apex Contracting (QLD) will need to be aware of this prior to commencing any works. Power to the structure can be achieved via two different options: 1. Underground – This method requires trenching from new/existing powered structures to a sub-board in approved sub-board zone (Refer Glossary). All underground services are required to be at a minimum depth of 600mm from finished ground height as per AS3000 Wiring Rules. 2. Overhead – This method will require a point to point catenary wire (Cable supporting wire) from new/existing powered structure to the approved sub-board zone. Overhead services also must comply with AS3000 Wiring Rules. Additional works may be required for each method depending on the type of installation. Example: Cable may require to be run through a roof space to a point of exit, where a trench will be need to be dug from the point of exit to the approved sub-board zone.

3. Landscaping: If trenching is required for the installation of power to a shed, it is possible grassed/pathed areas may be damaged during the excavation for this service to be run. Apex Contracting (QLD) Pty Ltd will not be responsible for damage to grassed/pathed areas. These areas are the responsibility of the owner to re-establish after works are completed.

4. Damages: Any damages to property caused by Apex Contracting (QLD) will be repaired as agreed upon between Apex Contracting (QLD) and the owner. If damage is done to a property it is a REQUIREMENT that a document outlining the damage is written/illustrated and signed by each individual before any repairs begin.

5. Compliance: ALL WORKS COMPLETED BY APEX CONTRACTING (QLD) PTY LTD MUST COMPLY WITH AS/NZS3000 WIRING RULES.

Requiring something additional not listed above? If you require something not listed feel free to ask us. We are constantly looking for ways of improving our service and would be happy to provide any additional items you may require.

Overhead Services: In some situations overhead services may be the best way of supplying power to your new or existing shed. For example: If the shed has been built very close to the house or point of supply. In order to connect overhead services, two fixing points are required, one as high as possible on a house (or pole) connecting to another fixing point on the shed. A stainless steel cable is run and tensioned between these two fixing points called a catenary cable. Attached to the catenary cable is a conduit containing the electrical service. This cabling comes from the main switchboard to the sub-board zone. This method is very effective and quite cost effective, as opposed to trenching, however it does not suit every application, It’s also the least aesthetically practical. It is recommended this option to be used if no other options are available.

Trenching/Undergrounds: If trenching is required to connect power to your shed, we can arrange to have these services provided. Depending on the distance from the switchboard location to the sub-board zone there are two options for trenching NOTE: All trenches containing electrical services MUST be dug 600mm deep from finished ground height. This is to comply with the AS/NZS3000 Wiring Rules.

1. Hand Dig – Generally for short distances (up to 8m) If minimal trenching is required from the main switchboard to the sub-board zone, one option is to hand dig a trench. Sometimes this option can be the cheapest option depending on length and accessibility.

2. Machine Dig – Longer/deeper trenches If trenching is required for more than 8 metres, a machine dug trench might be the best option. A third party would be required for this option. This option is generally best if it is clear no services are likely to be affected while digging.

Digging a trench to get cabling from the main switchboard to the sub-board zone is the most common method of connecting power. It is also the most aesthetically practical option.

Glossary: Main Switchboard: The Main Switchboard is a connection point where the service from the street/generator are connected to supply power to the property. This generally has Supply Metering in it. Sub-board: A Sub-board is in addition to the main switchboard; a supply cable is run from the main switchboard into the sub-board providing a rated amount of power to the sub-board. This then supplies outlets/lighting through current limiting devices (Circuit Breakers). Sub-board Zone: The Sub-Board Zone is the area in which a sub-board is proposed to be installed in the shed. This area is generally on a wall closest to the entry of the cabling to the shed. RCBO: Residual-Current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection – Or more commonly known as a Current Limiting / Safety switch Combination breaker. By law in Australia, any general power outlets or lighting circuits MUST have these types of breakers supplying them. Refer AS/NZS3000 or speak with Apex Contracting (QLD) Pty Ltd. Trenching: Refer Trenching (Page 7)
