    OUR GLOBAL BUSINESSES

    Shell works in more than 70 countries andterritories, and employs around 87,000 people.

    Those people work across a diversity of Shellcompanies, grouped, broadly, as Upstream,

    Downstream and Projects and Technology.

    Our Upstream businesses comprise UpstreamAmericas USA, Canada and Brazil andUpstream International, which has majorinterests in Europe, Asia, the Middle East,Russia, Australia, Oceania and Africa.

    Upstream refers to the ways we find andextract crude oil, natural gas and bitumen,

    while Downstream refers to the ways wetransform them into products for sale toretail and commercial customers.

    We provide gas for cooking, heatingand electrical power; fuels and lubricantsfor transport; and chemical productsfor plastics, coatings, detergents andmany other appliances.

    Businesses within our Downstream organisationturn crude oil into refined petrochemicalproducts which are traded, marketed anddistributed globally. These include conventionalfuels, lubricants, bitumen and biofuels.

    Our Projects and Technology organisation

    provides technical services and technologycapabilities in Upstream and Downstreamactivities. It manages the delivery of projectsand helps to improve performance acrossthe company.

    We also recruit graduates to work across Shellcorporate functions, such as Finance, Legal,Human Resources, Safety and Environment,Contracting and Procurement, Information

    On-the-job experience in thisarea entails 3 different RoleRotations over 2.5 years.The objective is to give youcompetencies and insights into thevalue chain and trading operations,supported by formal training andprogress checks, towards becoming

    a top industry trader.

    In a technical discipline, you spend2 to 3 years on competence-basedtasks and a course of formal learningwith the support of technical coaches.A progress check every 6 monthsensures youre on track.

    ONLINE APPLICATIONGo to www.shell.com/graduate and choose AssessedInternship or Shell Recruitment Day for the GraduateProgramme. Complete an application form and uploadthe latest copy of your CV/Resume.

    Before applying for an opportunity, make sure youare eligible to work in the country where it is based.

    PART 1Competency-based questions.These take approximately 20minutes to complete and arenot timed. Once completed andsubmitted, youll receive an emailnotification of the outcome. You willneed to complete this first part ofthe assessment successfully beforeproceeding to the second part.

    PART 2A decision-making andproblem-solving task.The second part of the onlineassessment consists of two tasks:a decision-making task that assesseshow you respond to commonsituations that Shell graduates mayface; and a problem-solving taskthat assesses your capacity forsolving numerical problems.

    The decision-making task is nottimed, but the problem-solving taskhas a time limit of 18 minutes.This assessment should take around

    45 minutes to complete, in total.

    ONLINE ASSESSMENTIf you are successful at the initial application stage,

    you will receive an email notification with instructionson how to complete an online assessment. This hastwo parts. Each must be completed and submittedwithin 7 working days.

    This takes place either face-to-

    face or over the telephone. It is anopportunity for you to tell us moreabout why you are applying to Shell,

    your achievements, the challengesyouve faced and how youvedemonstrated the qualities werelooking for.

    ASSESSED INTERNSHIP OR SHELL RECRUITMENT DAYIf you have applied via the first route for an internship and pass theinterview, you could see yourself on our assessed internship.

    Or if you have applied via the second route and pass the interview youcould be invited for the final assessment at a Shell Recruitment Day.

    STEP 4AAn Assessed InternshipYou can apply for an assessedinternship if you have yet to reach yourfinal degree year. It will give you theopportunity to see what its like to workfor a global company.

    You will be guided by a mentor anda supervisor throughout. They willconduct a formal mid-term reviewfollowed by a final review where youllbe asked to complete an online exerciseand written task. Youll also be askedto prepare a final presentation about

    your project before a final interview.

    Following a successful internship,you could be offered a place on ourGraduate Programme

    STEP 4BShell Recruitment DayIf you are applying for a placeon our Graduate Programme,we will invite you to an afternoonof interactive sessions, for furtherinsights into Shell. During thesesessions you will not be assessed.

    The next day we will give you arange of assessed exercises tocomplete. This includes an onlinesimulation of working on a realproject, a written exercise, groupdiscussion, self-reflection interview,a case study including a presentation

    and a final interview.
