The legacy that Bryan Clauson leaves behind will forever be felt throughout the racing community and well beyond To honor his memory the City of Nobles-ville and the Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IRMA) teamed up with the Clauson family to erect a historical marker honoring the racer

Clauson traveled the country and the world in his Sprint Car and Midget rac-

ing adventures ndash including competing in the ldquoGrand Daddy of Them Allrdquo the In-dianapolis 500 three times ndash but Nobles-ville was the place that he always called home

ldquoWe are so honored that IRMA came to us with this idea Being able to put Bryanrsquos historical marker in Noblesville makes it even betterrdquo said Lauren Stew-art Clausonrsquos fianceacute ldquoBryan proudly called Noblesville home and loved ev-

The Sheridan Horseshoe League will soon be starting their 43rd year

Men and women around the state over 12 years of age can participate in the sport

The Sheridan league has participants come from as far as Kokomo to pitch one evening each week The league holds three tournaments each year

The first tournament will be on May 13 and is sponsored by OrsquoReilly Auto Parts The Sheridan Horseshoe League will hold their organizational meeting at the courts in Biddlersquos Memorial Park Tuesday May 2 at 630 pm Rain or shine the season

starts May 9 The league is much like a bowling

league You establish a handicap deter-mined by your average So even if you are a first-time pitcher it gives everyone a chance

Horseshoe pitching is a good outdoor social sport and a great way to meet new people Several of the members will be at the courts Saturday April 22 from 9-11 am with a rain date of April 29

I was standing in line at Meijer a few

weeks ago and a father and son were behind me They were looking at the gossip magazines The son asked his dad ldquoWho is Bob Hoperdquo

REALLY I mean BOB HOPEFunny how the huge names of mov-

ie stars comedians and singers that I grew up with are somewhat unknown to my kids and my grandkids are totally clueless of who they are

Chuck and I remember the words to most songs that we grew up with Chuck will often make a comment and it will lead into him singing a song and Ill join in Shine on Shine on Harvest MoonYou are my sunshine I write the songs that make the whole world sing Unforgettable

Its hard for me to imagine my grandkids being able to serenade some-one they love with the songs of Snoop Dog Eminem or Kanye If they sing

them around their Grandma Janet they may get their mouths washed out with soap

The truth is Chuck and I often have no idea what is being sung on the award shows And thats probably a good thing I know a lot is beeped out There are a few exceptions like Justin Tim-berlake

I love the comic relief of the come-dians that I grew up with Lucille Ball Dick Van Dyke Red Skelton and later Steve Martin Robin Williams Eddie Murphy and our own Hoosier David Letterman

If I had to choose my all-time favor-ite comedian it would be Carol Burnett If you added her wit with the humor of Tim Conway and Harvey Corman you got a comedic delight You could sit around the TV in mixed company and you never had to worry about what would be said or suggested

And who could ever forget Art Lin-kletter and the segment on his show Kids say the Darnedest Things and they did He would get tickled and struggled to maintain his composure when a little one would tell a family secret Oh my

I miss those shows I miss the hu-mor I miss the music They truly were unforgettable

Public records search fee passes Indiana SenateThe REPORTER

The Indiana Senate has approved a bill allowing government agencies to charge $20 per hour for public records requests that take more than two hours to complete

The measure by Republican Rep Kathy Richardson of Noblesville passed the Senate on a 44-3 vote Wednesday

Under the proposal the first two hours would not be billed After that hours spent working to complete the re-quest would come with a bill thats the lesser of $20 per hour or the hourly wage

of the employee com-pleting the search

The bills author says public records requests can take an excessive amount of government workers time

Opponents dis-agree with charging for requests under open government laws They point out that government employees are paid by taxpayers

The Indiana State Police is now ac-cepting applications for Motor Carrier Inspectors These permanent scale fa-cilities will include one position at the Ft Wayne District and two positions at the Versailles District These scale facilities are located on I-69 in War-ren and on I-65 in Seymour Inspectors enforce both state and federal regula-tions pertaining to commercial motor vehicles operating within the state of Indiana

Trainees must complete the Motor Carrier Inspector School scheduled to begin on Aug 14 2017 and conclude on Oct 27 2017 The training will be conducted Monday through Friday at the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

facility in Indianapolis Housing will be provided During the training train-ees will develop skills including emer-gency vehicle operations defensive tactics communications hazardous materials first-aid post-crash investi-gations and truck inspections

In order to participate in the selec-tion process applicants for the position of Motor Carrier Inspector must meet the following basic requirements

1 Be a United States citizen2 Be at least 21 years old by Oct

27 20173 Possess a high school diploma or

GED4 Possess a valid driverrsquos license5 Be required to pass a physical
