Message from Your 2015 Northwest Commissioners
October 2015 Vol. 2, No. 10 Sheryl Turner, NW Commissioner, District 2, Newsletter Editor
Greetings and welcome to our
October 2015 NWC Newsletter!
This month your dedicated volun-
teer Northwest Commissioners
are ALL signing this message,
personally, extending an invitation
to all residents and homeowner’s
associations to come and meet
your fellow citizens who serve on
the NWC. Please consider at-
tending our next meeting October
13 at 6:30 pm. Alternatively, if
you would like a commissioner(s)
to attend your neighborhood asso-
ciation meetings, we would be
honored to do so.
The NWC meets the 2nd Tuesday
of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the
Jackie Robinson Center, and the
public is ALWAYS invited to at-
tend. In our effort to raise aware-
ness of the NWC in our communi-
ty, we soon will be scheduling
meetings in other areas of the
NW.
OUTREACH - Your NWC creates
and distributes this monthly news-
letter of information about the NW.
If you have a story you would like
to share about a specific person
or project, or an announcement
for your neighborhood, please let
us know. Additionally, each month
commissioners walk door-to-door
in neighborhoods in Districts 1, 3
and 5 where neighbors share their
issues and concerns, e.g., side-
walk repair, nuisance neighbors,
street lighting, etc. We use this
information to create and submit
an overview to the City Council.
DEDICATED TO THE COMMUNI-
TY – Your NWC members serve
as a monitoring body for the
Northwest community. We work
with the City Manager and staff on
updating and revising the NW
Community Strategic Plan; pro-
vide on-going oversight of the im-
plementation of the General Plan;
provide periodic advice to the City
Council on Northwest issues; and
present an annual review of Plan
implementation to the City Council
and community.
ADVOCACY - Each month we
ask various city departments to
report on current issues to deter-
mine how they may affect the resi-
dents of NW Pasadena. Our goal
is to create a forum where you
can talk directly to city staff on top-
ics important to us all in the NW.
We regularly receive reports from
the Police Department; Economic
Development in the Fair Oaks,
Lincoln, Orange Grove and North
Lake corridors; Community Devel-
opment Budget Grant updates on
approved projects, Heritage
Square Project; the General Plan;
the Rose Bowl; and Community
Improvement Projects (CIP).
OUR COMMUNITY - NW Pasade-
na has a rich history. We love that
we live in a cultural melting pot.
Your NWC needs to hear the voic-
es of all our residents to be effec-
tive in serving our community.
Won’t you please assist us with
making the decisions that reflect
and benefit our entire community?
We invite you to attend a meeting
at any time! The NWC agenda is
always available online at the City
of Pasadena website. You can
always reach us on email at
Your NW Commissioners look for-
ward to hearing how we can better
serve our neighborhood!

Your Northwest Commissioners:
