    “A magazine is a memory you can cherish again and again”

    SHILP- The world in itself means creativity at its best…

    Shilp, the annual magazine of VESP, is a canvas that provides a platform for

    the creativity to be materialized. It is a compound of the writer’s mood, ideas,

    rhyme and most important, his/her heart. It is a platform for students to

    exhibit their emotions, skills and knowledge. It is a tree in real sense which

    begins as a seed and gradually grows with watering and care of the makers. It

    is a journey from the beginning of the year covering various events, festivals,

    academics, activities, workshop and achievements. It is an outcome of students’

    considerable contribution and creativity which make Shilp an outstanding

    edition.

    “We don’t remember days…We remember memories”. A new beginning always

    inspires our progressive run, but as we look behind, we see shadows of

    memories. “Shilp 19” is a mirror which reflects the happenings throughout the

    year. It starts with the celebration of the Traditional Day, Gurupoornima, and

    Teacher’s Day. The enthusiasm reaches to the peak in Sphurti which is a

    perfect stage to display one’s sportsman spirit: Anvesh with a theme: “Navaras”

    reveals youth spirit giving the exposure to inner talent, excitement &

    enthusiasm of Vespians. We embarked towards the completion of the year with

    the celebration of Alumni Meet with great ecstasy in the last week of

    December.

    “But, it’s time to start something new and trust magic of beginning.”-2020

    “Do not give up! Things will give you up”

    – Swami Vivekananda

    Trustee’s Desk

    India is now being recognized as a technically advanced country with a pool of trained manpower. Our Nation is the most attractive investment destinations for science and technology sector in the world. A strong focus on science and technology has resulted in constructive economic growth. It is a matter of proud that we are at a prestigious position among the top most countries in the world in the field of scientific research and space exploration and space missions, including missions to the moon and the acclaimed Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. Chandrayaan-2 mission was a highly complex mission, which represented a significant technological leap compared to the previous missions of ISRO. In this regard the considerable investment in education with research and development is a need of hour to compete with international standards. We have to make our Institutes of learning to rise to a higher level of academic excellence, where research, development and interactions with industry would be on a regular basis.

    As promised by late Shri K. B. Mansharamani- the founder and the architect of engineering education in Vivekanand Education Society, we will not shy away from investing in science and technology, research and development.

    We have, from the inception, tried to ensure the cordial relationship among the students, parents and faculty members which has been helping us to achieve our goal of imparting quality education.

    Besides academics we conduct several activities to develop overall personality of the students. We have also started VESLARC with the motto of inculcating leadership.

    We wish to develop you as educated individuals with holistic values, self-confidence and leadership in your stride.

    You are still students but soon you will become responsible citizens- you will be achievers- engineers, scientist, industrialist, professors, leaders, businessmen.

    I wish you all Success, Contentment and Excellence in your chosen profession.

  • ANVESH is a techno-cultural Fest hosted by Vivekanand Education Society’s

    Polytechnic every year, as a break, from the academics and studies for the diploma

    students. This year we were celebrating the 9th year of our annual fest ANVESH.

    ANVESH provides a platform for the students in the college with great skills to display

    their talent in front of the whole college .There is a lot of variety in the events which

    would be taken place in the fest .The main purpose of the fest is to provide them a

    break from the daily lectures and studies to have some fun time .This fest can help the

    students to explore with new people and have a good working environment with other

    new students who work together. ANVESH 18-19 had taken place on the 18th and 19th

    January and these two days were filled with mixed emotions.18th January was the day

    of SURBHI where mostly all the cultural and technical events took place followed by

    the DJ night .19th January was the day of Sanskriti. It is the annual day of our Fest

    ANVESH. All the dance performances were conducted on this date as this was the

    most anticipated day .The theme of our fest was ‘NAVRAS’. NAVRAS is basically

    based on the 9 emotions of the human beings . The Nine emotions are:

    1) Shringara Love\beauty 2) Hasya Laughter 3) Karuna Sorrow 4) Raudra Anger 5)

    Veera heroism/courage 6) Bhayanaka Terror\Fear 7) Bibhatsya Disgust 8) Adbutha

    Surprise/Wonder 9) Adbutha Peace

    Anvesh 18-19 was initiated by a speech by Mrs. Vaishali Rajeshirke, the Anvesh In-

    charge welcoming all the faculties and staff members along with the students. Anvesh

    In-charge, then requested Principal Mr. Vikrant Joshi sir to come on the stage and

    inaugurate Anvesh. The decorations followed the theme gracefully and V.E.S.P. was

    a treat to look upon. The decorations done by the Decoration Head, Ms.Dharita Desai

    and her hard working team were just overwhelming but at the same time were graceful

    as well. The Technical & Creativity Head, Mr.Ujas Pandya did an outrageously good

    job helping the decoration team with posters and other decoration equipments while

    also handling the technical department. The security and control was up to the mark

    with the exceptional job of Mr.Avinash Gupta & Ms.Kinjal Parekh the Security Heads

    and their team. The publicity, done by Mr.Amey Mithbavkar and Mr.Harsh Salvi the

    Publicity Heads, was evident by the attendance of students at the time of Anvesh. The

    flow of the fest was unfaltering due to the bridging role of Mr.Amey Mithbavkar the

    Documentation Head. After the inauguration ceremony Ms.Anmol Valecha and Mr

    Mithun Shenoy gave a speech welcoming everybody. Then there was the affair of the

    inauguration dance by the students and V.E.S.P. rang with melody while the

    performance of the Band after the dance. SURBHI: The episode of Surbhi began with

    the event of Talent Hunt in the quadrangle while the other events started in their

    respective venues, all but Mr. & Ms.V.E.S.P.; which was scheduled to begin after the

    break. The students participated with a bang and Anvesh 18-19 looked like a real

    success right from the start.

    Lakshya, a not-for-profit social initiative, was founded in 2006 with an aim to

    develop national character among youth through cultural awareness, social

    awakening, and personality development. Our motto of “rising by lifting others”

    encapsulates the spirit of giving back to society, thereby strengthening the

    fabric of our nation and roots of our democracy.

    To achieve its goals, Lakshya conducts various programmes throughout the year

    targeting every strata of society for their allround development. Our

    programmes include summer boot camps for children in the impressionable age

    group of 9-14 years (where we not only inculcate the ‘India first” value, but also

    harness the potential that each child possesses), tree plantation & animal

    welfare drives, supporting the educational needs of underprivileged children,

    undertaking educational excursions with a social message to protect our

    heritage, encouraging youth to visit old-age homes and orphanages so that they

    realize their responsibility towards these sections as well, running awareness

    campaigns, and nurturing talent.

    As a part of this unrelenting effort, Lakshya conducts motivational presentations

    for students across all streams ranging from Std 9 to graduation courses. Over

    the past 7 years, Lakshya has conducted 350+ such presentations in various

    educational institutions and organizations in Mumbai. As our motto is to give

    back to the society, we conduct all the sessions absolutely free of cost. Two of

    our highly effective and inspirational modules — “Train the Brain” and “One

    Thought can Change your Life” — not only prepare students for the challenges

    they face ahead academically, but also help them get the right perspective

    towards life. Train the Brain provides a perspective to students on how to

    approach exams and manage expectations which in turn helps a great deal in

    relieving the stress associated with exams. We also urge them to take a long-

    term perspective of life and plan accordingly. One Thought can Change your Life

    explains how important it is to be positive in life and provides a roadmap to

  • practical positivity. We then follow it up with the concept of "Inspiration" with

    examples of India's legacy and achievements in various fields. To inspire the

  • Project Title: Smart Garbage Monitoring System using IOT

    Group Guide: Mrs. Nirmala Prabhu

    ABSTRACT:

    The Internet of Things (IoT) shall be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a

    large number of different and heterogeneous end systems, while providing open access to

    selected subsets of data for the development of a plethora of digital services. Building a

    general architecture for the IoT is hence a very complex task, mainly because of the

    extremely large variety of devices, link layer Technologies and services that may be involved

    in such a system. One of the main concerns with our environment has been solid waste

    management which in addition to disturbing the balance of the environment also has adverse

    effects on the health of the society. The detection, monitoring and management of waste is

    one of the primary problems of the present era. The traditional way of manually monitoring

    the wastes in waste bins is a complex, cumbersome process and utilizes more human effort,

    time and cost which is not compatible with the present-day technologies in any way. This is an

    advanced method in which waste management is automated. This project IoT garbage

    Monitoring system is a very innovative system which will help to keep the cities clean.

  • ABSTRACT:

    Monitoring and keeping tracking of your electricity consumption for verification is a

    tedious task today since you need to go to meter reading room and take down readings.

    Well it is important to know if you are charged accordingly so the need is quite certain.

    Well we automate the system by allowing users to monitor energy meter readings over

    the internet. Our proposed system uses energy meter with wifi module to monitor energy

    usage using a meter.

    The meter is used to monitor units consumed and transmit the units as well as cost

    charged over the internet using Wi-Fi connection.

    This allows user to easily check the energy usage along with the cost charged online using

    a simple web application. Thus the energy meter monitoring system allows user to

    effectively monitor electricity meter readings and check the billing online with ease. It

    has a add on feature of theft detection.

    The Internet-of-Things Smart Energy Meter (IEM) is a device fixed on top of the

    regular household power meter that provides detailed information about the electricity

    usage. Modern power meters have a LED blinking every time a watt-hour is used, the IEM

    detects these flashes using a interrupt, counts them, then the data is stored to the

    cloud. Usually power companies provide very rough electricity usage data, the IEM

    provides data with a minute resolution. Knowing the household electricity usage allows to

    extrapolate statistics and can give precise numbers about the costs.

  • ABSTRACT:

    Drowning is a major global injury problem and is the second leading cause of unintentional

    injury death after road traffic injuries. Apart from actual drowning, many deaths in water

    occur due to hypothermia. Even if a victim can stay afloat with the help of life vest , in cold

    water , hypothermia can cause death rapidly. In such cases it is difficult to detect whether

    the person is safe or not. As a result, many inventions to prevent drowning and to rescue

    drowning victims have been made over the years. The recent trends make the prevention easy

    by detecting the heartbeat.

    This system is very helpful for saving the life of a person drowning in the water. The main

    work is of pulse sensor in our project. The pulse sensor will sense in BPM. The transmitter

    circuit used in this project is Arduino Uno which is interfaced to LCD screen. The model of

    the idea consists of transmitter and receiver circuit. This is done by informing the heartbeat

    rate of any person in the water to the lifeguard. Our system will monitor the heart rate. It

    will then transmit using RF, its range would be around 5-6 meters, if under water around 2-

    4meters. For this the system includes transmitting and receiver circuit. The receiver circuit

    is with the lifeguard to inform about the person’s heart beat rate , while transmitting circuit

    is with the person in the water. The components of this device informs about the heartbeat

    of the person due to the heartbeat sensor. A buzzer is also arranged to the receiver circuit,

    which turned ON when a person’s heartbeat level fastens or becomes too low.

    Thus this system helps to inform the lifeguard as soon as the heartbeat level is not within

    the limit and thus can save life of the person drowning in the water.

  • ABSTRACT:

    In today’s world car security is at risk . Many robberies are taking place

    due to less security in high end and mid segment cars. There is no proper way

    to secure our car. Using RFID technology we can secure our vehicles.

    Traditional key system is not that much secure as the key can be stolen or

    there may be a situation when the key gets stuck into key hole or it breaks or

    bends. If the key is stolen the intruder can misuse or steal the vehicle. To avoid

    such circumstances, we have designed a new security system for cars. In this

    security system there is a RFID scanner which scans RFID cards which acts as

    a key to start the ignition. The same key can be used to get entry into the

    vehicle. Multiple copies of a key can be easily made which is totally risky

    nowadays. No copy of RFID can be made easily. By chance if anyone gets the

    RFID key he/she cannot enter into the vehicle without actual key. There will

    be two set of RFID key one will be used to enter into the vehicle and another

    will be used to start the ignition. Advantage of this system is that there is two

    step verification while entering into the vehicle. If we want to start the ignition

    then we have to put the card in front of the RFID scanner and if we want to

    turn off ignition it will be switched off using the same RFID card or directly

    by turning the key off.

  • The one where I miss my childhood

    Tears shedding through my eyes;

    I don't even know who cares;

    My life covered up with lies,

    Hope going all the way down through sad- stairs.

    All these irrational thoughts getting up my mind,

    This feeling of loneliness is the one giving power to me to write,

    I don't even remember when I had genuinely smiled,

    But with this shattered hope I got all my grieves aligned.

    All I ever asked was just my life to be out of miseries,

    Not even I asked happiness,

    I've never asked for the sorrow to decrease,

    But why can't I even get the strength to clean up all this fu*kin' mess?

    Am I so unworthy looking for love and care;

    What sin did I commit at your door?

    Try to be in my shoes, there, I give you a dare;

    And here I see my love, sadness, hope, affection, care and happiness lying on

    the floor.

    All of the things I loved; did I leave them behind?

    I can't get out of this game played by my mind,

    For the last time I wish I could,

    Get back to my lovely & peaceful childhood.

    To be the greatest, to be the best;

    You must always start with a jest.

    Deal with the sorrow;

    The sun will definitely shine tomorrow;

    And then there’ll be time where you will get brighter overmorrow.

    A happy puppy isn’t the one with no problem;

    That’s the one who has learnt to deal with them;

    Accept all of them with a wide smile; and your solution emerges from within.

    Expectations can never kill you;

    Those from a wrong person do;

    The reality shall be accepted even when harsh because it is always smooth to

    handle;

    Lies can destroy you, don’t trap yourself in the scandal.

    Be yourself, no need to prove anything;

    Be true to yourself, live like the mightiest King.

    Stay the same and serene, get odd and become successful, have your own

    It has always been about being no. 1.
