ShockWatch Flex
ShockWatch continues to build upon its heritage in the damage detection industry with the delivery of another uniquely engineered solution - the reliable, tamperproof ShockWatch Flex. The Flex is an impact indicator that reveals if your product has been subjected to unacceptable handling.
Why Use ShockWatch Flex?
Ability to monitor tools that may become misaligned, equipment that may lose their calibration, or products that may be damaged with mishandling
Incorporates the proven technology of the ShockWatch impact indicator label in a flexible format which is even suitable for curved or irregular shaped items
Provides indisputable evidence of mishandling
Acts as a visual deterrent to improper handling
Promotes chain of accountability for all product handling
Confirms effectiveness of packaging
Sample Return on Investment Typical ShockWatch users see damage rate reductions of 30-70% within 6 months
Company’s est. total shipments per year
X Company est. damage rate = Company damaged units
250,000 2% 5,000/year
Company’s damaged units
X Avg. replacement / repaircosts per unit
= Current yearly costs for replacement / repair
5000 $300 $ 1,500,000
Company’s units shipped per year
X ShockWatch unit cost = Total ShockWatch investment
250,000 $ 1.25 $ 312,500
Current yearly costs for replacement / repair
x Conservative damage reduction rate using a ShockWatch*
40% decrease in damage equates to savings of
$1,500,000 40% $600,000
• Reducing your damage rate by 21% pays for total investment. A conservative 40% reduction more than doubles your return.
• Not captured in current costs (that may be reduced with monitoring program):• Administration fees• Freight (if product cannot be repaired in the field)• Unhappy customers (customer service manpower)
Selection Criteria
To select the proper activation levels, determine if shock damage boundary data has been established for the product to be monitored.
Activation graphs are available for the Flex to help match the damage characteristics of your product.
Depending on packaging and product fragility, it may be necessary to adjust the sensitivity up or down.
Product Selection
The ShockWatch Flex is available in single tube configurations.
■ Double tube configurations will be available soon
The single tube configuration provides nearly 360° of detection of impact. The double tube configuration, however, will provide a full 360° detection to monitor drops from all angles.
ShockWatch can help you set up a damage reduction program tailored to your unique circumstances.
Monitoring ProgramThe ShockWatch Flex can be used in conjunction with a ShockWatch Label program. ShockWatch
Labels are used to monitor packages during shipments. The Flex and Label can be used together
to monitor for mishandling of the product (Flex) and of the package (Label).
When used in conjunction with companion labels, alert stickers, caution tape, posters, and
communication tools, ShockWatch indicators become a highly effective damage reduction and
prevention program.
To aid in communication with program participants, ShockWatch provides customized letters for
your carriers and customers. These letters describe the ShockWatch program and detail the steps
to follow in the event a shipment is received with an activated label.
Posters are available for the sending and
receiving docks. These posters are
another reminder of the ShockWatch
program details.
Alert tape and ShockWatch companion
labels are additional tools that increase
the visibility of the handling requirements
of your package.
Mounting Instructions
Remove the adhesive backing from the Flex and mount on a rigid area of the product, as close to the product’s center of mass as possible.
When mounting the Flex on a curved or irregular surface, do not attempt to bend the device along its longitudinal axis.
