Synthetic Last Manufacture1. Last designing or modeling : This is done in two ways—
a) New Last Design:
-Designed based on the market research and current fashion trends.
-A range of styles is developed by CAD/CAM system and fixed up all
parameters.
-The sample last mould is made and checked according to the desired
parameters.
-The model last is made and graded according to required size ranges.
- Mould of each size is prepared and the sample lasts in all sizes are
made. S. M. Murshidur Rahman, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).
b) Sample Last Design:
-The sample last is first scanned and
matched with the defaults values of different
dimensions or reset new values for different
dimensions.
-Metal mould is prepared according to
sample last.
-The sample last is graded to required size
ranges.S. M. Murshidur Rahman, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).
2. Mould Making:
-The raw material HDPP is first mixed up with various ingredients.
-The waste materials are also mixed up with the HDPP pillette.
-The prepared raw materials are poured into the vessel of the injection
moulding machine.
-HDPP melts and fills the cavity of mould.
-The last blocks are picked up and cut the common joint area.
-The last blocks are Cooled in water

3. Last Turning or Milling: -The last block is attached vertically to the clamp of the CNC last turning lathe.-The block is first roughly turned or milled gradually.

4. Hinge pin hole making: Two pin holes are drilled on the forepart and back part respectively.
S. M. Murshidur Rahman, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).
5. V-cut making: The cone portion is cut vertically and then top plane is cut in angled from top to bottom so that the entire area is removed and the cut shape is V like.
6. Hinge cut making: The last is divided into two parts by cutting it from the middle of the V-cut bottom with a concave curve on top and a convex curve on bottom.
7. Hinge slot making: The hinge is fixed on the middle of the last V-cut and the position of hinge is slotted by a narrow knife on the both parts of the last.
S. M. Murshidur Rahman, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).
8. Hinge fixing:
- The hinge is placed into the hinge slot.
-The hinge pins are usually shorter than the last
width.
-The last is checked by folding.
-Hinge pin holes are filled with molten HDPE

9. Last remilling: The flat knives gradually remove the materials from the last surface according to the required dimensions.
S. M. Murshidur Rahman, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).
10. Toe stud and back stud removing: The toe stud and back stud are cut by a cutting machine and are roughed the area to make smooth.
11. Ferrule hole making and thimble fixing:

12. Last repairing: Any damage can be recovered by adding molten material into the required area.
13. Toe part and back curve roughing:

14. Metal plate making:

15. Stamping size, fitting and last code number with a colour.
16. Lasts are covered by paper and pairwise packed in a cartoon to store or dispatch.
