PACHIM KETANIM FROM RABBI YUDIN: In Honor of Parshas Ha’azinu and the Yom Tov of Sukkos

The Dubner Maggid, known for his parables, has a famous one on the verse (32:18), “You ignored the rock who gave birth to you, and forgot G-d who brought you forth.” His parable: “A” owed “B” a sum of money. “B” was constantly nudging him. “A” asked “C” for advice to get “B” off his case. “C” suggested that when “B” asked for the money “A” should feign insanity, do foolish things, so that he should realize he can no longer expect payment from one who has lost his mind. It worked. Shortly after “A” borrowed from “C”. When “C” came for his money, “A” again feigned insanity, at which point “C” hit him and rebuked him saying, I gave you this trick and now you use It against me? The application: Hashem gives man the gift of forgetfulness, so that he can move on with his life after undergoing losses and difficulties, which is a great blessing. Too often man uses this Divine gift to forget Hashem. The sukkah is an antidote against this, as it is one of the few mitzvos that we do with our entire body. The Torah teaches in Vayikra (23:43) that the Jewish generations should know that He provided us with our needs in the desert and continues to provide for us today.

NURSERY SCHOOL NEWS

This week the children were very involved in creating sukkah decorations for their family sukkot. Our littlest "Stars in Training" decorated a mini sukkah by placing cut out leaves on brown construction paper which the morot then laminated with a picture of each child. The Early Learners made beautiful hanging pomegranates and The Young Explorers constructed a free form decoration using twigs and Popsicle sticks. Each decoration is unique as are our children! On Friday the children visited the Shomrei Torah sukkah where they enjoyed a special Shabbat party. This week we also held our annual Back to School Night to share with parents our individualized and differentiat-ed curriculum and goals for the coming year. The children enjoyed their first session of Music time with Morah Evelyn. A special thank you to Naomi No-ble for conducting a Back to School lice check. The Nursery School will be on Sukkot vacation and we look forward to welcoming the children back after the chag. Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach to all!
