Mandate•The Shoniker clinic Mandate is to serve

children and adolescents who may require the service of a hospital based on mental health program.

•The Shoniker clinic is a part of the Rough Valley Hospital System it is integrated children and adolescent it has a day hospital and six in unite beds for inpatient.

Services Offered•The First Response Team•Education workshops•The First Intervention Treatment Team

( FITT)•Group therapy •Individual therapy•Family counselling •Psychiatric services•Medication

Barriers• Only serving: Scarborough, Pickering and Ajax• Cannot accept patients with referrals for eating

disorders• OHIP requirements • Transportation is limited • Receiving service may take 2 weeks• Don’t provide educational or psychological

testing assessments for court purposes; and/or cases with unresolved custody/access issues

Community Outreach•No official outreach services provided•FITT program for 19-35 years •Help client’s families cope with

mental health•Provide support through transitions •They encourage clients to join their

support groups
