He is known all over the world as Kenzo, but did you know that his first name is Takada? The renowned fashion desig-ner Takada Kenzo was born in 1939 and claims that his interest in fashion stems from reading his sister’s magazines at an early age. He attended Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College, as one of the first male students and then settled in Paris in 1964. He had quite a rough start and could only afford buying fabrics from flea markets, mostly scraps which meant he had to mix different fabrics in order to make one garment. This in itself has of course become typical of Kenzo’s creations. In 1970, Kenzo presented his first show, his first store, ”Jungle Jap” opened; and one of his models appea-red in the cover of ELLE. In 1972, he won the Fashion Editor Club of Japan’s prize and soon became the talk of the town. Today, his name is the brand of both women’s and men’s fashion, perfumes and skincare products. Kenzo retired in 1999, but reappea-red in 2005, presenting ”Gokan Kobo” (”The Workshop of the five senses”), a brand of furniture, tableware and home objects.

Printing and the environment: In 1989, the Nordic Council of Ministers decided to implement a voluntary system for eco-labelling in the Nordic countries. The objective of labelling is toenable consumers and companies to select suppliers and products that are the least harmful to the environment. For us it is important to use suppliers who can supply all parts in the printing process in an environ-mentally-friendly way and according to the criteria of the Swan (the Swan is the symbol of the Nordic environ-men-tally label). That’s why we chose to produce this catalogue at Strokirk-Landströms AB in Lidköping, Sweden. They are Swan-licensed, license no. 341 126.4 and, since 1999, certified according to ISO 14001:2004. We have used the paper Maxi Silk – distributed by IGEPA, Sweden.
