SHORT CUTS - NEVER HAVE GOOD ENDINGS!

Please don’t take short cut because it is..

More convenient, pleasing, satisfy the boss, fun… etc. etc.

Here’s what SHORT CUTS can do:-

At a chemicals site, a member of the greasing team had

to change the oil on the gearbox of a compressor. To

speed up the draining process, he as usual, pressurised

the gearbox (normally breathing to atmosphere) with

maintenance air at 6 bars...the result you can see on

attached pictures: explosion of the gearbox with 15mm

thick cast iron blocks flying around and bending nearby

handrails and pipes. Fortunately, the person was not

injured and is only recovering from the emotional shock.

We have checked no one else was using this worst practice on the site, but

you might want to do the same.
