ABOUTThis intensive program takes up the challenge of demonstrating how we can learn from 'local Tokyo' to support a 'global Tokyo' in studying hidden aspects of the city. We will study the past, present and future of the city, especially focussing on Tokyo 2020 and 2050, discovering, remembering and re-telling the tales and everyday stories from the Edo period to the present day. The programme is divided into a short introduction workshop, three fieldwork trips/ walks in the city followed up with short but intense discussions and stand up statements prepared by the students in groups. A final presentation day will wrap up the program to show what we learned from re-discovering the hidden aspects and urban vernaculars of the city Tokyo.
