Febr ua r y 11, 2019 Superintendent M essage THOUGHTS FROM DR. BALL Dear Judson ISD Team: I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I know that weekends go by so fast. One of our goals is to continuously look for ways to make Judson ISD better. Many ask me when we'll reach that goal and how long will it take. Well? .. Let me begin by sharing that I am not sure if there will ever be a point of completion. It is a journey that will go on indefinitely because I believe that we will always strive to improve and get better. But I believe we will move that progress needle a little more this summer when Judson ISD begins an amazing opportunity for our students. That's when we launch the JISD Summer Fine Arts Academy for our students in grades 4th-12th . We are accepting the first 100 students that sign up and audition. The program will run from June 7th through July 2nd, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. During this amazing opportunity students will have the opportunity to learn, dance, music, drama, stage production, teamwork, and so much more. I always like to share " the why." My senior staff knows " the why " phrase is one I like to use often, because I want to be intentional about the steps of progress we make. They should come with a purpose, so I want to share with you " the why" of this Fine Arts Academy. Many of our students do not get the opportunity to attend summer camps. Some parents do not have the financial resources, others lack transportation, and still other parents do not feel comfortable with their child going far away. But the experience of a camp-like setting is important to expose students to many different arenas. So with that in mind, Judson ISD will be hosting this Summer Fine Arts Academy for Judson ISD students. In the link below you will be able to get the permission slip and more information. Even if you do not have a child that is participating in the Summer Fine Arts Academy I personally invite you to attend the academy's production of Peter Pan. It's the culminating event of The Summer Fine Arts Academy and an event that will highlight the upcoming summer. I promise you it will be an amazing show with so much talent. Please join us on either Monday, July 1 or Tuesday, July 2 at 7:00 at the Judson PAC, Performing Arts Center. It will be incredible. Our JISD counselors do an amazing job every day. From assisting students with schedules and career counseling to helping others with tough decisions

and personal circumstances. They are there for students and staff both. The district and Dr. Ball

hosted a special luncheon for these employees that do so much on our campuses. Aimee Hadas and

Joanne Cruz were also recognized for their professional achievements.
