ANNUAL REPORT 2006- 07

It’s my great pleasure to present the Annual Report of the Department of Physical Education and

Sports on behalf of our college. For last several years we have been forming the body of Students’

Sports Council along with Sports Council for smooth working. The Sports Council was constituted

under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade and Mr. V. Y. Waghale was the

Secretary. The other members of the council were as follows:-

Activities were conducted/ organized :

a) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh State Cross-Country- This year we organized mega event “Dr.

Panjabrao Deshmukh State

Cross-Country Championship” as

part of the Dr. Panjabrao

Deshmukh 108th Jayanti

Celebration on 25th

December 2006

with the help of Maharashtra

Athletics Association and Nagpur

District Athletic Association. The

event was a grand success although

it was organized for the first time in

Nagpur. It was organized jointly by

Dhanwate National College and

Science College. For the smooth and successful organization of this mega event various committees

were formed. Hon’ble Vasantraoji Dhotre, President, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati and

Hon’ble Sunil Kedar, MLA flagged off the

event.

There were six groups of the participants

12 & 4 km. for Men , 8 & 4 km. for

women and under twenty 8 & 6 km. for

boys and girls respectively. Cash prizes

amounted to 1, 56,000/-. First four groups

were given Rs.15000/-, 7000/-,5000/-,

3000/-, & 2000/-in each group for first five

individuals and 6th

to 10th were given Rs.

1000/- each while 11th

to 15th

were given

Rs. 500/- each in cash. Likewise under -

20 first five boys & girls were given Rs. 5000/-, 3000/-, 2000/-, 1000/-, & 700/- respectively and 6th

to

10th were given Rs. 500/- each and 11th

to 15th

were given Rs. 300/- each. In addition to cash prizes

winners were awarded with mementoes and certificates.

Hon’ble Vasantraoji Dhotre, President, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati presided over the

prize distribution Ceremony while Hon’ble Sunil Kedar, MLA was the chief guest. On the occasion

prominent occupants of the dais were Hon’ble Adil Sumariwala, President and Hon’ble Pralhad

Sawant, Secretary, Maharashtra Armature Athletic Association, Prof. Sumantrao Deshmukh,

Executive Member of SSES, Amravati and Hon’ble N.N. Saste, Principle Science College. Principal

Dr. B. B. Taywade made introductory remarks. Dr. M.S. Wankhede & Mrs. Archana Deshmukh

conducted the proceeding and Mr. Devendra Wankhade proposed a vote of thanks.

b) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahostava 2006: We organized Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh

Krida Mahostava 2006 from 14th to 16

th of Sept. 2006, for the seventh year consecutively, in which

Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Volleyball (Men & Women), Football, Basketball & Cricket (Men) were included.

It is really a praiseworthy act that we are getting good response year after year for the Krida

Mahostava. In all 45 Colleges participated including 14 and o8 teams in Kabaddi, 21 and 09 in

Volleyball, 10 in Basketball, 16 in Football, and 20 in Cricket Men and Women respectively.

c) Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test- In addition to the above games & sports

activities, we conducted Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test of the students for the

degree college in the month of January 2007. Accordingly the statistical reports were submitted to the

University.

d) Summer Coaching Camp: - We organized summer coaching camp for yoga & football under the

coaching of Mr. Ramesh Mandal & Mr.

Devendra Wankhade from 9th

April 2006 to 9th

May 2006. 20 & 37 students participated

respectively in Yoga and Football. The camp was

inaugurated by Dr. Anil Karwande while Dr.

Sukhadeo Bishwas & Prof. Baldeo Khanna were

present. Dr. Babanrao Taywade, Principal

presided over the function. Mr. Devendra

Wankhade conducted the programmed and Dr.

M. S. Wankhede proposed a vote of thanks.

e) Organized R.T.M. Nagpur University Inter Collegiate Events: – We organized R.T.M. Nagpur

University Inter Collegiate Handball, Volleyball, Kabaddi & Cricket Tournament.

Handball Tournament (Men):R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate A & C-Zone Tournament

was organized on 27th

& 28th Oct. 2006 in which 14 teams of various colleges participated.

Volley Ball (Men): We organized R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate B-Zone Tournament

from 06 to 08th December 2006 & 18 teams of various colleges participated in it.

Kabaddi (Men): On 25th

to 27th Oct. 2006 R.T.M. Nagpur University Inter-collegiate D - Zone

tournament was organized in which 31 team from different colleges participated.

Cricket (Men): At Vasant Nagar ground R.

T. M. University D-zone Semifinal & Final

matches were played during 21st Dec. 2006

to 2nd

Jan. 2007. The final match was played

between Y. C. C. E. Nagpur & Bhaobhuti

College Amgaon and Y. C. C. E. won the

championship. Prof. D. M. Welukar,

Chairman Dr. Hemant Thakre were present.

The Winner and Runners were given the trophies.

Cricket: - At Vasant nagar Ground we conduct the C. K. Naidu under -19 D.S.O. Tournament.

f) Annual Sports Day: In memory of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, the founder President of Shri Shivaji

Education Society, Amravati, various sports activities were conducted on 25th

of Dec. 2006 i.e. e.

Annual Sports Day and the students who showed outstanding performance were given medals and

certificates on 27th

Dec. 2006.

Participations -22 Men & 12 women teams of the college participated in various games & sports of

the R. T. M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate and other tournaments as under: -

a) Nagpur University Intercollegiate tournament: -Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Boxing , Ball

badminton, Cricket, Chess, Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Handball, Half marathon, Judo, Power

lifting, Kabaddi , Kho-Kho, Korfball, Malkhamb, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball,

Wrestling & Yogasana.

b) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahostava 2006: Kabaddi, Volleyball -Men & Women,

Basketball, Football, and Cricket (Men).

Participation in Games:

Cricket: - Late Dadasaheb Karnewar Intercollegiate Tournament, and Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida

Mahostava.

Football: - P. W. S. College Tournament, (September 25-30, 2006), and Nagpur District Football

Tournament (December 1 to 8, 2006).

Basketball: - G. H Raisony Basketball Championship (February, 10-13, 2007), I. D. B. E. Club

invitation Tournament (November 17-19, 2006), and Chandrapur Basketball Tournament

(January 25-28, 2007).

Ball-Badminton: - Inter Club Ball-Badminton Championship (25 &2 6 Nov. 2006).

Volleyball: - Tirpude College Championship (Dec.13 to 15, 2006).

Cross-Country:- Prin. Arunrao Kalode College Race (August 27, 2006).

Chess: - G. H. Raisony Championship (November 16 to 18, 2006).

Achievements : We put efforts to train our players at least one month before the respective games &

sports so that they may be well trained to win a name & fame for themselves as well as for college

HANDBALL: - The team won the R T M

Nagpur University Championship and Mr.

Manchu Usandi, Dnyaneshwar Mundale,

Agam Kohali, Piyush Murkute were

selected in the University team and

participated in the West Zone Inter

University Tournament held at Salem from

17th to 26

th February 2007. Other members

of the team were Amit Pilley (Goalkeeper),

Rahul Lonare, Gaurav Gajbhiye, Syed Zakullah, Ajit Singh & Sandeep Selokar.

Basketball: - Our college team has won R T M Nagpur University Championship and we lost the

semi final with a narrow margin in Dr.

Panjabrao Deshmukh Inter Collegiate,

Chandrapur Basketball championship and

G.H. Raisony Tournament under the

captainship of Mr. Shivaji Dhawad. Mr.

Sandeep Selokar, Mr. Sagar Bhoyar, Mr.

Nitin Ratnparkhi and Mr. Anup Urewar were

selected for University team and played the

Inter-university Tournament was held at

Jiwaji University Gwalior from 18th to 22

nd

December 2006. Other members of the team were Mandar Dixit, Utkarsh Sovani, Mangesh

Pandharipande, Dharmendra Hedau, Akash Johari, Monish Fulzale and Sohanish Fulzale.

Volleyball: - Our college team won R T M Nagpur University and Tirpude College Championship.

We lost the semi final with a narrow margin in Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Inter-collegiate tournament

under the captainship of Mr. Rakesh Bhandwalkar. Mr. Rakesh, Vinit Charan & Kapil Savant were

selected for University team and played the

Interuniversity Tournament held at Jiwaji

University Gwalior from 7th to 12

th October

2006. Other members of the team were Pritesh

Deshpande, Shrikant Kanode, Deepak Pawar,

Om Prakash Mishra, Pankaj Kumbhalkar &

Ajay Singh.

Judo (Women): - Our college team won Intercollegiate Judo Championship. Priyanka Musale,

Ankita S. Kamble and Snehal Y. Rahulkar were selected in the university team and participated in All

India Inter-varsity Judo Tournament held at Naded. Other members were Pallavi Fusate, Jaya Bhoyar,

Vaishali Keram, Pranjali Chokhandre and Prachiti Meshram.

POWER LIFTING (Women): - Our College participated in the Inter Collegiate Tournament and

won the championship consecutively for third year. The members of the team were Ku. Prachiti

Meshram, Ku. Pranjali Chokhandre, Jaya Bhoyar, Vaishali Keram, Soniya Gupta, Ankita Shendre,

Sonali Ramteke, Snehal Rahulkar, Priti Patil, Shilpa Thaokar and Priti Gurunule.

YOGASANA: - For the sixth consecutive year our Yogasana team performed well and won

championship of Nagpur University. But this year the team was Runner up. Piyush Gode & Nilesh

Shende secured 4th

& 5th place respectively in it.

Individual Achievements: - Karan Paleriya secured First Place in Swimming 400 mtr., Roshan

Nimbarte First place in Judo, Pankaj Karemore first place in Athletics Meet 1500 mtr & first place in

Ashwamedh selection trails 800 mtr, Vinayk Halami first place in 1500 mtr Ashwamedh selection

trails, Prafful Chinchmalatpure Gold Medal in Boxing.

JUNIOR COLLEGE

Our college teams participated in inter-collegiate

Kho-kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Handball, Ball

badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming,

Malkhamb, Wrestling, Carom & Athletics. Our

college Handball & athletics teams performed very

well in District Tournament and won the

championship. At divisional level tournament

athletics team won the championship and Handball

team was runners up. Kabaddi team and Cricket team were runners up in District Tournament.

Felicitation: The students, who represented Inter University, National, State, Ranji Competitions &

secured first position in University Tournament, were felicitated and presented with track-suits, shoes,

mementoes & certificate on the occasion of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh on December 27th

, 2006 &

Republic Day 26th

Jan. 2007.

Physical activities & Sports play an important role in human resource development & exercise is an

important requirement for good health.

It is only due to the efforts of our dynamic Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade who provided all the required

facilities & valuable guidance, we could organize such events. I take this opportunity to thank him on

behalf of our staff, students & Physical Education Department for rendering these facilities. We hope

that the blessings of Hon’ble Principal will continue to be with us. I must express my deep regards for

the Secretary, Sports Council & in- charge of various games & my colleagues. They are indeed a

source of inspiration to me. Their guidance & co-operation have been an impetus to boost up our

interest and activate potentials of students. I would like to extend my cordial thanks to all those who

helped directly & indirectly in all these activities
