Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures – to royalty or not to royalty the Holy Texts!

King James Bible But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an

offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

My Dearest and respected elder Sahaja Yogi, So refreshing to hear from some of you from the early days with Her Holiness.

I am so sorry in how you have all suffered such personal injuries over the years, even I had to don feathers of Foghorn to cope!

Look at these emails below, it is such a travesty of Mother's Work and our own sacrifices to see such blatant arrogance and corruption to even consider using Sri Mataji's Talks to accrue money! It makes my blood boil

Who is this character donning the name of the Lord as his own and spewing these words as if Sri Mataji came on this Earth to fill their pockets whilst

denying and susuppressingnbsp; the People access to Her Divine World through the Medium of Her Talks?

Do you remember how Sri Mataji came to your humble abode when you were a single man and we prepared the place for Her arrival, do you have any of those photo's , if so please post them for us.

As you know I organised that meeting and we had a good press...do you realise that the whole episode was for your sake and you were the only

person to acknowledge Her divinity out of the sixty odd there? Sri Mataji praised your devotion and often spoke of how you had rejected the drug culture outright and without reservation, not ever trying to justify and glorify in

it like some of the hippies who seem to wear it as a badge of pride somehow!

Page 2: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

The Sahaja Yogis in general seem to be living in some sort of cuckoo land and in complete denial that they must participate in the process before these

vultures turn it all into some horrible religion against all that Sri Mataji taught us..

Please help to pass on this concerns to the Collective ...they really must snap out of this Bhajan singing, woodstock type of apathy !...I am so dissapointed with the likes of Boghdan and Gregoire who should have known better, now

we have kids like Chris Kyriacoo in Australia who are behaving like petty tyrants trying to capitalise on all our work....their ego's can be forgiven but the danger is for the future whereby if we allow them they will create an

infrastructure that will only need one Demon to enter to take control... At least we should share the Talks as much as possible before the eventual

demise I fear! Take care and Best Wishes to your family

Your Brother Kuli

Dear Robert Many thanks for your comprehensive explanation and expansion on my notes of the background, circumstances and future plans for making Shri Mataji’s talks and other items available to yogis and the wider population. I hope everyone involved in distributing or having copies of the package Andrew has provided can now appreciate the ongoing efforts being made to provide high quality videos, audios etc., for yogis and the wider public, and the need to provide royalty payments. To give a guide the suggested royalty payment is EUR1.5 for

Audio Talks and EUR2.5 for Videos.

As you have mentioned in your letter quote: “WithregardtopeoplewhopossesscopiesofShriMataji’sspeechesbutdidnotpayforthem,NIPCiscurrentlyworkingonaproposalthatwouldallowthosewhowishto,tomakeabackpaymentofonesortoranother.AsIunderstandit,informationonthiswillsoonbemadeavailabletothecollective.”In light of this, may I suggest that those who have received copies should perhaps wait until the advice regarding a ‘back payment’ is received. Again thank you for your comprehensive explanation on this matter. We are all brothers and sisters in Our Holy Mother’s heart, and I’m sure all involved are considering this matter in a positive way. I am aware of similar instances elsewhere and they too can be addressed so we can move forward in the full knowledge of what is required in these situations. Best regards Vishnu

Dear all, Whether or not to pay for access to Shri Mataji’s talks has become an emotional issue which sometimes leads us to make inferences about each other’s motive, which generally have little basis in fact. However, in Andrew’s letter I note not just a wish to express his views but also a genuine desire to understand the issues and move towards a shared position. This is what gives me the confidence to step into a conversation taking place on the other side of the world. This is also the spirit in which I am writing (see attachment). I want to share my views on the topic and hopefully provide some insight, but I do not presume to have it all sorted out. I would also like to make it clear that the views I express are personal and do not reflect necessarily the position of the World Foundation. For that, a letter from the board would be necessary. Warm regards, Robert Hunter

Dear Vishnu and all other (I hope still) interested persons, "SahajVidya Collect'n...Treasures of the Devi". As requested I have attatched a Word file detailing a summary of the contents of the collection of Talks, Mpeg Videos and Resource material Colin shared with me and others. I counted and include the number of Shri Matajis Talks, Mpeg Videos etc. and summarised Resourse material which has been put together in a file

Page 4: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

called: "SahajVidya Collect'n...Treasures of the Devi". That is the recource being offered to be shared and I understand, is a work in progress. There are separate other directories which I received later from another source being part of accumulated different peoples collections of Talks and Videos I understand were being collected to organise and selectively add to the collection at a later date. The most significant of these include 2 or 3 much less complete collections of audio talk files in much bulkier format (and therefore of course higher quality for processing. I did not counnt these as these are largely but not all already in the SahajVidya collection above. There is also another extra Directory containing 35 Div x much lower quality Video files being a mix of Puja talks, and Public programs etc. It is the "SahajVidya Collect'n...Treasures of the Devi" which is mainly the recourse which some of us (who know about it) wish to enjoy, use to spead Self Realisation, and use to help to deepen ourselves, and give all Sahaja Yogis the same opportunity. It is of course priceless. I understand all the persons involved in putting this collection together do not ask for any payment for themselves or their time. Neither I believe did Shri Mataji. So if the criteria used to calculate funds to organise and preserve this particular collection were calculated according to the cost of preparing, sharing and preserving it, it could be zero. (I would be comfortable in this country, to ask $200, only for those that can afford to pay it is as reasonable, maybe $50 extra as a voluntary amount to subsidise those that cannot afford it. You could - probably would sell a lot, and therefore still collect a large amount of royalties if that is the goal). My feeling still is that Spreading Shri Mataji's message is the purpose. Money should be the tool we use to spread The Message, not prevent Its spread. Jai Shri Mataji Andrew R.

Thanks Andrew No rush. I’m aware there are a number of similar concerns around the country and I’m pleased we can begin looking at them to work them out. Your instance can serve as a test case and example of how we can deal with similar situations. I feel Mother is very pleased with us having our positive attention on this matter which I’m sure everyone wants to clear up. My very best wishes to you, and again thanks for raising the matter in such a diplomatic manner. Best Regards Vishnu Dear Vishnu, Thankyou for your considered and well meaning reply to my questions. As you are probably aware there are many Yogis with similar concerns and questions. I will try to give you the information today or tomorrow. Regards, Andrew R.

Subject: Re: Shri Mataji's Talks and Videos Resource

Dear Andrew and everyone Jai Shri Mataji! Just following on from my email last night. I am including Hari, Marcus, Paul and Kim as Australian Councillors for their information. Hoping everyone is well and enjoying Mother in their hearts. Again thank you for raising these matters and for your frankness in discussing what has been something requiring clarification. Hopefully through discussing these matters in an open way we can all have a better understanding and be able continue to enjoy Mother’s glorious words, while complying with Her instructions. Mother’s talks are Her Intellectual Property and there is a requirement to acknowledge it as such and pay a small fee accordingly. From a spiritual aspect Our Holy Mother is our Guru, and long standing tradition has been to provide small gifts to ones Guru in appreciation of their teaching and assistance in our growth. So there are two aspects to providing an amount for ‘royalties’. In discussing this matter last weekend with The World Foundation (who are charged with looking after Mothers talks and managing the collection of royalties on Her behalf) they have further clarified Mother’s instructions in these matters as per her legal Will. Mother has advised that 50% of royalties paid on Her talks, photos etc. are to used by the WF to further their work in restoring and preserving Her talks for posterity and future generations, and to provide funds for the WF to continue creating and providing high quality resources for yogis. Shri Mataji also advises the remaining 50% of the royalty received should go to Her physical family to be used as they decide. The World Foundation have provided a Master Hard Drive of talks to Australia and is working on creating an internet ‘Portal’ where yogis can pay a small token amount (to assist with its ongoing development) and they will be able to access videos, audios and texts of Shri Mataji’s talks etc. For an additional small fee and with approval, yogis will also be able to download the items. The first trial run of this new service will occur in Australia. We are in the early days of creating this resource and have some finer technical details to work out, but it will be very welcome and will overcome problems some yogis have had accessing information. There is a genuine desire to make talks etc., easily and readily available to all yogis, and we ask for your patience as the processes are put in place. I will attempt to answer some of Andrew’s questions below. Love and best wishes to everyone. Vishnu

Hi Colin, This is an open letter (cc to the yogis I have been involved with either by sharing the Hard drive or related discussions) I hope you are well. I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful collection of Shri Matajis talks and Program resource material from England you shared with me. I also wished to discuss the question of royalties. Two things which have stood out for me as helping to make the news of Shri Mataji taking Her Samadhi, and the time since then, a more special and

Page 7: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

positive experience are: 1. Being able to listen to All Shri Mataji's Talks, especially the older ones I hadn't heard before, and a kind of a "mission feeling" to share them with all the other Sahaja Yogis I could, and; We have all experienced a very profound ‘strengthening’ of our connection to Mother now She has re-entered Her Formless state. As dedicated yogis there is an ‘innate’ desire to share Mother’s message with others. We just need to ensure we are following the correct protocols as provided by Her Holiness. 2. Being involved in giving Self Realisation through the organising and helping running the new Introductory Courses and follow up Workshop. (PS. I have purchased a Samsung TV monitor which plays straight off the Hard Drive. This has been extremely useful and timely to play included Shri Matajis' Videos at these weekly programs. I have even started converting my other DVDs into file format and putting them onto the hard drive, along with music for programs). Mother has provided some wonderful tools for us to use, but once again we need to ensure correct protocols are being observed. What has happened since: I was listening to one of Shri Matajis very early talks, a particularly deep one from 1976 whilst driving early in the morning, when I received the news of Shri Mataji's taking Samadhi by email on my phone. After my Tai Chi Class, I was listening to it again, and I had a strong urge to phone Hari Gaikwad, and share with him this intense feeling to find a way to share as quickly as possible the early Talks, and in fact all the material you (Colin) shared with me with all the Sydney Yogis.

The previous week, we were on Program and I had played a fantastic talk on Attention also from 1976. After the program Hari had approached me and said he had been trying to get this particular talk for some years to listen to, so I offered to make him a copy, as I had already given that copy away. On the day of the News, on the phone, Hari said to me that he would discuss the question of royalties at the next council meeting. He agreed with me that the Royalty system should not be an obstacle to as spreading Shri Mataji's words / message. A week or 2 later, Hari informed me the protocol should be, that when giving other yogis a copy of the Talks etc. I should advise them to give some form of Royalty towards Sahaja yoga projects, where and as they saw fit in their hearts. This sat / sits well with me. Hari’s advice is a sensible solution to deal with what has already occurred. From this point forward though we need to be completely open about any copies made or shared, and ensure we are not disturbing the vibrations by not providing the required royalty amounts. We need to move on and ‘do the right thing’ from this point onwards. As mentioned in last nights email please contact Marcus Rome about arranging payments. Marcus Rome_bigpond <[email protected]>

Since then I spoke to Charles Tirolongo who handles the Big Media player and collection of Australian World Talks and Video, sold in Mac format. I offered to give him a copy of all the material you gave, so that any talks missing from the collection he manages, could also be accessed by all yogis. Charles was quite concerned with the royalty aspect of distribution of this hard drive. Charles at a later date became more specific with me

Page 8: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

stating that a value amount should be mentioned to anybody I offered the hard drive Contents to, in line with the collection he manages, as it would most likely be simply a subset of that. He said for the complete collection $1500 was the royalty required and $400-$500 for the hardware. I will discuss this matter with Charles and others to look at an appropriate solution. I have also spoken to a couple of other people, in particular Peter Aefeldt my brother in law who is on the Sydney council. He, after the Public workshop last Sunday in particular said there was an email instruction from Vishnu (previously known as Sno Bonneau) the Australian Coordinator. Vishnu had had discussions with Robert Hunter and the outcome was that Royalties were due because this was an important / main source of funding for many SY projects such as the shelter for homeless women etc. My reaction inwardly at the time was it felt like a blow. We are not to have any guilt or deep concerns regarding this. We are aware of it now and will work through it together in a positive way. This issue has been in the attention and I have been asking Mother for direction and She has now created this dialogue to clear it up. Jai Shri Mataji! I asked Peter if he could send me this email, and have received it whilst writing this letter to you today. I include a copy of the email These are some questions / comments I have not so much to you Colin, but to the Council, leaders etc.

1. Shouldn't we keep funding of projects to do with the physical running of SY and associated projects such as preservation of I.P. (Given to us from Shri Mataji) completely separate from the act of spreding Her Word / Words / Message? Yes agreed, and as you can see above 50% of the royalties are dedicated for that purpose as instructed by Mother in Her Will.

2. Should we try to control or limit the different ways in which Shri Matajis Talks, Message in all its formats be shared around the world in the same way certain previous SY leaders have tried to contlol who and how SYs should give Self Realisation? My mother who is a good Catholic told me that when she was young lady in Holland, the Catholic Church instructed Catholics not to read the bible but to only listen to the Priest who, only because of his training could correctly interperet it. I hope you can see by the information above that there is a desire to remove any previous restrictions and have Mother’s talks etc. available to all yogis directly to them. I’m sure you will also appreciate that we need to ensure that the talks etc are only provided to genuine yogis, hence a suggestion of a simple approval process for downloads. There is also a desire to make appropriately suitable talks available to everyone, (yet to become yogis) through the internet.

3. How much royalties should I recommend SYs should pay considering the bulk of this collection is MP3 format Talks, mainly Public Programs and Public program recource material VS the collection Charles manages which is practically the complete set of Shri Matajis videos in optimal quality for $1500 royalties? As mentioned earlier I will discuss the media Charles manages with himself, the Australian Council and the World

Page 9: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

Foundation. Regarding the package Andrew has can you please advise the number of talks, and if they are audio or video, and I will seek similar advice and get back. Meanwhile can I suggest Andrew does not provide any more copies until we clarify the matter.

4. How much would the royalties would What if I just distributed the Audio talks, and the Public Program Videos / recource materials..(took out all Puja Videos)? I ask this because in my case that is the most valuable and practical part of the collection. I haven't watched any of the videos myself outside of the programs I have run, and generaly only have time to listen to talks when I am driving, and generally am satisfied to only listen during meditation times with eyes closed. The other reason is because there are probably others, as I am at present, who can not currently afford $1500 because of their genuine finantial situation. As above. Awaiting details of the material.

5. Should I continue to distribute the Hard Drive / I.P. material as I have, and trust other SYs to pay Royalties themselves? OR should I stop distributing it all together (for me a very sad idea)? Let’s put a hold on distributing (for now) until we work out an appropriate solution regarding the royalties.

6. Should I delete all the contents and advise everybody I have shared it with to do the same if they are unable or un willing to pay whatever ends being the stated Royalty amounts (even Sadder)? (How will / will it be Policed?) As above. Do nothing for now.

7. What about the situation that myself and many other Yogis who have been around for a while are in that we have some hundreds of Audio Tapes we purchased over the years and paid around $10 royalties for each talk? Can that be taken into account when determining royalties owing? If after paying $1500 a better newer format becomes available, will we have to pay Royalties again for the same / better quality copy of Words of Shri Mataji? Very good question. I will try to get an answer.

8. Can we collectively distribute, and if neccessary help fund, similar Hard Drives / resourses to all yogis running programs every where (especially isolated or distant areas) as a SY Program recource and show them how to use the hard drive the easiest possible way? Cost: Hard Drive about $48 (office works), 24 inch Samsung TV monitor with built in Media Player about $325 (ebay). In many cases some of these yogis have paid contributions for the spread of SY for many years, fund their own programs, and need material to play during programs. In other cases Yogis have no experience and no idea how easy it can be to organise and present a program. This is an area we need to further explore. We need to ensure all collectives, large and small have all the resources they need. The new Portal will overcome those issues, but meanwhile there may be other options. We are monitoring program requirements at a State level. Another idea would be to have a computer in the recource room at Burwood which Yogis could plug in their USB sticks and download Shri

Page 10: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

Mataji's MP3 talks as required. For country areas they could do over the internet. I have seen more recently some of these ideas may be already starting from Italy.. at a price. This option is certainly a possibility. However we are trying to create a uniform simple process for all yogis around the country to use.

PS I have already sent a copy of the hard drive to a Darwin yogi who is running programs, and sold one to a yogi (feeling a bit isolated) on an oil rig, and in sharing the hard drive, have preferenced yogis who because of distance or other personal reasons have difficulty coming to programs, etc. I have given a copy to one of the Yuvas who Lakshmi thought would best share it with the other yuvas (as per your request),,, also Yogis who just seemed to need of deserve it... and asked them to do the same.. till now. As above. Andrew should probably contact the Yogis and Yuvas he has provided the talks to and advise them not to panic, but that for now it is better not to keep making copies until we reach an acceptable understanding about an amount for royalties for the package. I’m sure we can all see and appreciate the dilemma of wanting to spread Mother’s word and the frustration sometimes experienced with the ‘red tape’. This matter is very much in the attention now and we will work it out in a loving, considerate manner as would our Mother. It will be good to have clear directions on this ‘grey’ area for the future.

9. Is it possible to take leadership in SY too seriously? (" thou shalt! thou shalt not!" ) I am genuinely grateful the paramachaitanya did not chose me, as I am sure I would have dived full speed into that trap. Maybe as an ordinary Seeker wanto be Yogi, one has greater freedom?

Pleased Andrew can see the maya around the myth of leadership, and yes an ‘ordinary’ yogi is far more blessed with their freedom to just enjoy. I cannot speak for those who came before me or those in other countries, but I can assure everyone that there is definitely no desire or intent to place any restrictions on yogis access to Mother’s Divine words. In fact quite the opposite is true, and recent initiatives sch as acquiring a ‘master hard drive’ and the creation of the ‘Portal’ are examples of this. Its just that councillors have to try and assist yogis in finding the balance of responsibly sharing Mother’s talks in an organised manner, and ensuring we fulfil our obligations of protocol by providing an acknowledgement in the form of royalties.

Sorry to Colin / every body who reads this for anything which offends, as I have for some time just wanted to get all this off my chest (I hope out of my Agnya!). I am genuinely hoping to get some positive answers to these questions, and a way to move forwards collectively. My belief is if we have more, and more varied ways to spread and share all the Blessings Shri Mataji has given us, it will surely reach more Seekers, including those already calling themselves Sahaji Yogis. The ways should be living and organic not rigid and too structured or controlled.

Andrew as your Divine brothers and sisters I’m sure no-one will be

Page 11: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi’s Divine Lectures –

offended by your questions which need to be asked. In fact I am personally very grateful to yourself as Shri Mataji’s vehicle for bringing this issue to our attention so we can now begin work through it and remove any doubts about what is required. Once again, Jai Shri Mataji! Can you please provide details of the number of audios, videos etc. in the package being distributed so we can get advice on a suggested royalty amount? Meanwhile for those having already received it I suggest Hari’s suggestion above is an appropriate way to deal with the royalty matter and clear it from recipients attention.Jai Shri Mataji! Regards, Andrew Rohowyj.
