The success rate of SGBAU, Amravati for B.Sc. (H. Sc) is 80% and the success rate of the department is quite high.

The success rate of P.G. (H.sc) course of SGBAU, Amravati is 83%. The department result is little bit lower than the university results. However our students were topper in University holding 1st, 2nd, 3rd merit.

The dropout rate for UG is 5 – 10% and it is due to marriageable age of

girls and the dropout rate of PG is zero.

The faculty of the department are members of LEC,Selection and Placement

Committee,Subject Expert of SGBAU,Amravati. All staff members are the

members of different committees of S.G.B. Amravati University,Amravati like

paper setting, moderation, evaluation, subject examiner and practical

examination and work as external examiners.

5) Learning resources of the department like library, computers, laboratories

and other such resources:

The Department has well equipped laboratories of Food and Nutrition, Textile and Clothing, Human Development, Anatomy and physiology with all modern facilities. The department has a departmental library containing Text books, Reference books of subjects related to Home Science for U.G. and P.G. Students as well as various journals and Dissertations of M. Sc. Students. The Department has 7 P.C. for the students with internet facility. Overhead projector, Video and Power-point facilities are provided to the students. The department continuously update itself with the purchase of latest version of the devices for technology up gradation e.g. Scanners, Sound system, T.V., V.C.D., Laptop, LCD, Software and newly published psychological Intelligence tests, aptitude test, etc.

6) Enhancement of the learning resources during the last five years:

The laboratories are renewed and furnished from time to time. Several Guests related

to subjects are invited to deliver expert lectures for the students.The Human

Development laboratory is equipped with new Psychological tests published recently.

LCD Seminar room has been installed and books are purchased under MRP and NET-

SET coaching scheme. Study material is provided to students using electronic devices

and internet. New computers added as a learning resources along with software of

Fashion designing and Textile.

7) Modern teaching methods in practice other than the lecture Method:

Along with the traditional teaching process, the faculty members use the modern teaching methods like Audio visual aids, Internet, overhead projector,

I- Pad,Laptops.To enhance the awareness amongst students regarding the subjects, Group discussions are arranged, seminars, guest lecturer and demonstrations are conducted periodically. Psychological testing workshops and skill development workshops, visits to various centers for surveys, projects and field experience are carried out throughout the year. Interaction through what’s app of android phones by forming groups of students.

10) Evaluation Process:

Unit tests, practical tests, seminar,Competitions,Power point presentations,Report

writing and personal observation regarding their academic performance and terminal

examination for yearly pattern are carried on for the students. Evaluation is done

by finding the lacunae and efforts are taken to overcome them.

11) Participation of teachers in activities other than teaching and research.

Teachers of the department actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular

activities of the college and work as conveners or in-charge of several activities.

They are actively participating in the various activities for the smooth running and

for development of college such as – Admission, Time Table committee, Prospectus

committee, Student council, Students Welfare committee, Grievance Committee,

Feedback committee, Alumni, Guest lectures ,NET-SET coaching,Canteen &

RAC,Entry in Service cell,Campus Beautification,girls Common Room,etc.

The department runs several separate services like Student guardian scheme, Poor boys fund and Health checkup,Earn andLearn Scheme of the students in the college. Also vocational practice through internship and visits is provided to the students. All staff members are the members of different committees of S.G.B.A.U, Amravati like paper setting, moderation, evaluation, subject examiner and practical examination, LEC, CAS, Syllabus restructuring and so on. .

Specialization in each area of Home Science at UG level is the latest plan for near future.

Advance courses under instruction of U.G.C.viz- Early Childhood Education; and Applied Psychology, Cosmetology and Clinical Nutrition are to be proposed as these courses are the need of the hour and interrelated to Home Science Stream.

Motivate the research activities for the development in the Home Science field.

Major Research Project is proposed.

To develop the technology such as Fruit and Vegetable Preservation

and PrintingTechniques on Fabric.

Research Laboratory is proposed.

Women’s Study Center is proposed.

The Department looks forward to organizing International Conference.

The department proposes to establish MOUs with newer and esteem Institutions.

Most of the students prefer Entrepreneurship after Home Science graduation and post graduate. The department is extending necessary guidance for placement of students through MOU with various Institutes and textile mills as well Govt and NGO.

* Department’s laboratory is proposed to be recognized for undertaking research for Ph. D.
