Lesson-Activity Title: Shutter Speed & Aperture ` Grade Level: 7 th & 8 th Name: Marissa Schaeffer Time: 60mins, 1 or 2days Objective: To introduce students to the functions on a camera. Students will develop an understanding of how to use shutter speed and the aperture settings. They will gain an understanding on how the camera works. Students have point and shoot cameras, which don’t have these features. It is important to learn to understand how the camera works and is helpful to retain knowledge for future use. Indicator: 1.3.8.D.1: Incorporate various art elements and the principles of balance, harmony, unity, emphasis, proportion, and rhythm/movement in the creation of two- and three- dimensional artworks, using a broad array of art media and art mediums to enhance the expression of creative ideas (e.g., perspective, implied space, illusionary depth, value, and pattern).

1. Students will get scavenger hunt list.2. Teacher will go over list with the class.3. Students will have 30 to 45mins to take pictures around the school.4. Students will then import pictures taken and work on editing pictures.

Questions: PowerPoint1. What type of f-stop would you use on a bright sunny day?2. What type of f-stop would you use to achieve a blurred background?3. What is a slow shutter speed number?4. When would you use a fast shutter speed?5. What is a pixel?

Adaptations/adjusting activities:. Students that are done can work on editing photos or take photos in the classroom. If some students are behind I will give the class a catch up day If students cannot complete work on catch up day they will have extra time to work on their work after the next lesson and discussion.

Modifications for Students w. Learning Disabilities: Student will receive more time if needed to complete work. Teacher will communicate with aid and provide step-by-step help throughout project.
