As it is commonfor investment companies to amend tax information, LPL Financial will request a supplementalmailing extension in the event investment companies do not furnish taxinformation to LPL Financial in time for its own February 15 mailing deadline. Holders of securities impacted by delayed tax informationwill have their consolidated 1099 form mailed March15, 2017.

A Foreign Transaction Tax is charged by LPL on foreign equity security purchases where the underlyingnon-U.S. securities are from French or Italian issuers. Safe Sport Report - Jolyn Yanez

1. Registration is open for the 2017 Safe Sport Leadership Conference! The 2017 Conference is our 3rd Safe Sport Leadership Conference. The 2013 and 2015 Conferences were great successes and we are looking forward to bringing you an even better experience in 2017! The theme for this year’s Conference is One Team, One

Page 20: SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag endasi-swimming.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/SI-Consent... · SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag enda

Goal and it is our objective to send attendees home with tangible, actionable tools that can be employed immediately to create a culture of safety at your club or LSC. This conference is ideal for Zone, LSC and club leadership – we’re encouraging coaches and board members to attend together and return home with a plan to foster a Safe Sport environment at their club. The Conference will be held at the Denver Gateway Marriott, January 22-23, 2017. There is no registration fee for USA Swimming attendees. More information including speaker bios and conference program to come and will be posted at www.usaswimming.org/sslc2017. Registration is open at www.regonline.com/sslc2017 Conference Schedule Sunday, January 22 3:00pm Creating a Culture of Change: Vital Smarts 6:00pm Reception and Keynote Monday, January 23 8:00am Engaging Volunteers 9:30am Crucial Conversations: Vital Smarts 11:00am Safety Skills for Kids: Gundersen Health 12:30pm Lunch 2:00pm Sexting and What Adults Need to Know: Colorado Youth Matter 3:30pm Athlete Disclosures: FBI 5:00pm Conference closes Questions can be sent to Maggie Vail at [email protected].

2. Safe Sport Scenario for January Read this to your athletes: New Year’s resolutions give us a chance to set new goals or recommit to the things and ideas that we care about—like the culture on this team! Safe Sport is all about creating a healthy, positive, supportive team culture. Let’s brainstorm some ways that we can make 5 Safe Sport resolutions for 2017. Safe Sport Resolutions: 1. Encourage each other. How? >Safe Sport says: Keep the chatter during practice positive. If you notice that a teammate is struggling through a tough set, cheer them on. Find out the goal times of your teammates and cheer them on at meets.

Page 21: SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag endasi-swimming.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/SI-Consent... · SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag enda

2. Look out for each other. How? >Safe Sport says: This goes all kinds of ways. Stand up for a teammate being picked on or bullied. Loan a teammate a cap if theirs breaks. Make sure they don’t miss their race. If they do something that’s against the rules, call them out on it. 3. Think before your speak/post/tweet. How? >Safe Sport says: Respect isn’t just actions, respect is words, too. Never say/post/tweet something mean, rude, or demeaning about a teammate. What you do with your words matters to the culture of the team. 4. Build each other up. How? >Safe Sport says: Expect the best from your teammates and coaches, and then help them be their very best. If we all do this, we will be a faster, closer, and more supportive team. 5. Talk about how you feel. How? >Safe Sport says: If you’re mad about something a teammate or coach did or said, ask them about it. Let them know how you feel and listen to their perspective. Let’s be a team that doesn’t keep all of that bottled up. This is also a good time to review the athlete honor code (or code of conduct) if it’s been a while since you’ve done that. *For Coaches: for more information and resources on team culture, visit www.usaswimming.org/toolkit. Officials Committee Report - John Smigal LSC Officials Chairs Conference Call Date: Jan 4th, 2017 LSC Officials Chairs Conference Call notes:

LSC Officials Chair Meeting will be held in Houston, TX on June 16-18. Invitation is to the officials chair or delegated person to attend

Deck Pass can be used to provide confirmation of officials’ registration New drone rule goes into effect, Jan 1, 2017. No drones allowed to operate at a

sanctioned swim meet without being granted permission from VP of operation from USA Swimming.

Page 22: SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag endasi-swimming.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/SI-Consent... · SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag enda

Swimmers registration can be corrected up to the point the swimmer actually swims and competes. If the swimmer swims and competes with no or expired registration, then the swimmer is penalized.

Female swimsuit with a tie or mechanical clasp in the back is not a legal suite per FINA rules, which USA swimming is following.

Mixed gender relay - If the meet announcement states that the makeup of the relay team can be 3 to 1, then this is allowed. The lead swimmer on a mixed gender relay time counts as an official time.

N3 Mentor/Training workshop only for N3 evaluators is schedule for Apr 28-30 for the Western Zone. New N3 evaluator list will be coming out soon.

Officials Training On Nov 15th, 2016 a Stroke & Turn clinic was hosted by NCA at Alga Norte. A total of 9 people attended the clinic along with John Smigal and Kevin Lee as the instructors. The following teams were represented: CSA, NCA, RSD, and PS. The next Stroke & Turn clinic has not been scheduled. I would like to set a schedule of clinics once a quarter at different location throughout the LSC. Looking for a team to host the a clinic in the late March timeframe. Please contact John Smigal if you can provide a facility for an officials clinic. Issues and Concerns The number of registered and qualified officials has been dropping. As of Jan 2017 our officials count is approximately 92. Starting around 2015 the officials count averaged around 120. USA Swimming guide for the number of officials needed is 4-5% of the total number of swimmers in the LSC. With the number of swimmers in our LSC, we should have around 130 officials. I analysed the list of 92 officials that are registered and reduced that number down to 52 officials that have been activity participated in swim meets for the past six months. Equipment Report - Carlos Davila Meets:

We have had 5 meets since the last board meeting. In general the timing system equipment was working fine for all of them. Winter Age: We had a successful Winter Age Championship with no problems. Everything worked fine, including the new PA system

Equipment: Slippery touchpads surface problems. Solution: I ordered an anti-slip spray, one glow in the dark spray and one clear. I will be testing it as soon as I get the product. Flag: At the December AB All Ages meet at Granite Hills, when the National Anthem finished, in front of all the people that were around the timing system tent and with a very elevated voice, Greg Spire questioned me as to why I didn’t take out the flag that was donated by him to the timing system. He also said that if we are not going to use it I should give it back to him. My answer to him was that nobody told me that we would be playing the National Anthem and I didn’t take it out from the trailer to avoid an accident to the flag. The next day we used it at the time that we played the National Anthem I gave it back to him without making a show as he did on the day before. One of the parents that was there when

Page 24: SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag endasi-swimming.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/SI-Consent... · SI BO D Meet i ng - January 23, 2017 Consent Ag enda

that happened brought at the Winter Age meet, two flags and one retractable pole. I got a second retractable pole. We use both flags and poles at both meets last weekend.

Safety Report - Kate Thornton 2016 Accident Report

There have been 7 accidents formally reported. o 6 at practice, 1 at a meet o 6 swimmers, 1 coach

There have been other accidents, which have gone unreported. o Suggested solution: Distribute attached two pages to all coaches and ask for them

to be more diligent in filing reports. Ask athlete reps to make swimmers aware that all injuries sustained during any activity related to USA Swimming (including meets and practice, both in the water and on deck) should be reported to their coaches and reports should be filed.
