Animals

In the desert normally people would think that the animals that live there are snakes or camels. Actually there are plenty more than that. There are Flamingos, Ostriches, Meerkat, Roadrunners, Bilby,Goannas, Kangaroo Rats, Echidna, Fat Sand Rat, Red Kangaroo and much more.

Flamingos

Flamingos are one of the deserts most rarest animals. They have long slim legs. On an adult their legs are longer than their body's. They also have webbed feet to help support them on mud. They sit down by lying their legs backwards than sitting down. They can fly and even swim.

Red kangaroos

Red kangaroos are the world’s largest marsupials. The female kangaroo has only one baby at a time. Also females are smaller, lighter and much faster than a male kangaroos. Male and female kangaroos are very powerful.www.freedigitalphotos.net

The Desert’s weather most of the time is very warm and sticky. Some deserts snow in winter instead of just dropping a few degrees. When the desert is hot and sticky that would mean, not many plants live there.

Weather and climate of the Sahara Desert

The Sahara desert is the largest and hottest desert in the world. Life in the Sahara is very difficult due to its climate. The normal temperature in the Sahara is 57.7 degrees sometimes even higher. Although it is hot in the day it is freezing cold at night.

Desert’s are every where. Great Sandy, Great Victoria, Simpson, Gibson, Tanami are the major Australian deserts, also there is Gobi desert in China, Thar in India, Namib in SW Africa, Great Basin in USA and Sahara in north Africa.
