Panagia Kapnikarea Church , Ermou and Kapnikarea streets in Monastiraki, built on the ruins of an ancient temple, dedicated to a female goddess, possibly Athena or Demeter. A legend claimed that Kapnikarea was founded by the Empress Irene between 797 and 802, the church used to be called the Church of the Princess.

Klafthmonos Square, "Weeping Square". Funny name for a square, isn't it? Well, here's the story: Before 1909, there was no law for the guaranteed employment of the public servants. With every change of government, the public servants appointed by the previous government were fired, and new ones (voters of the newly elected) were appointed. That was happening for many years with every "change of guard"! Those fired, were gathering in this square, weeping and begging for their reappointment, in front of the Ministry of Interior.
