10:00 a.m. Visit American Indian culture and art at the Smoki Museum.

Learn all about the indigenous cultures of the Southwest as you take a tour of ethnographic collections

that include clothing, ornaments and ceremonial paraphernalia from the Sioux, Apache, and Woodland

Indians. It’s truly an artful display that also showcases an extensive basket collection, as well as mas-

terful oil and watercolor paintings, charcoal drawings and more.

11:30 a.m. Enjoy the food and drink along the historic Whiskey Row.

When it’s time for a little saloon stop, there’s no better place than good ol’ Whiskey Row. Once hosting

more than 40 different saloons, the 100 block of South Montezuma Street has long been the home of

Whiskey Row, busy bartenders, and a fire that totally destroyed the structures in 1901, but not the

tenacity of the locals who quickly started to rebuild just a few days later. Today, you’ll find it to be a great

place to belly up as they once did.

3:00 p.m. Sharlot Hall Museum, Governor’s Mansion, Bashford House.

For an interesting appreciation of historical, social and natural aspects of Arizona, a trip to Sharlot Hall

Museum will not leave you wanting. It’s a great educational stop with seven historical buildings, compel-

ling exhibits and beautiful gardens.

5:00 p.m. Dinner at Papa’s Italian Restaurant.

7:00 p.m. Head back to the Phoenix metro area, or stay overnight at the Vendome Hotel.

and a bookstore. This is a stroll for the creative senses.
