Significance of Rivers It is astounding how a single river blesses us with its generosity by providing us with

numerous aspects, essential to survival. Mother earth is also known as the blue planet because of it being covered with 71% of water. These water bodies are nature’s benefac-tions to mankind, life without which would not have been possible. One of the signifi cant sources of water is the river.

The early men are known to settle on the banks of rivers in order to avail the comforts and benefi ts provided, that included supplies of fresh water, fertile soil for cultivation purposes and more. Rivers sustain life, not only for mankind but also for fl ora and fauna.

Rivers are massive providers of myriad advantages. They are major economic assets of any country as they did in the production of electricity, attract tourism, act as a solid trans-portation medium, help in trading purposes and also support the ecosystem by helping in the functioning of various natural phenomena like the water cycle.

Various rivers are also regarded as deities in many countries, including our own. They are considered sacred and worshipped by devotees with utmost respect and loyalty, as their holy water is known to cure one of all illness.

Subsequently, it has been a curse for the rivers as lot of industrial & agricultural wastes are being dumped into the rivers, making the water toxic and fatal for human use as well as for the marine life sustaining.

Sensible and prudent use of their precious resource as well as sustainable development is highly imperative at this point if we don’t make efforts and do it now, it might all be over soon. Its sure is toilsome, but not impossible.

National Integration Week National Integration is highly necessary in a multi regional society like India. Realizing the need of it, National Integration week was organised in our school from 19th November to 25th November 2018. In pursuing with this, programmes like speech, skit, Recitation &

dance were performed by our students. The motto of this programme is to showcase oneness, unity in diversity and patriotism.

Amirtha - Varshini Isai Mandram

On 13th December 2018, Our vidyalaya’s music club took a different turn in conducting power point presenta-tion as it marks the beginning of new era. The club mem-bers of Amirtha Varshini Isai Mandram were given a great opportunity to enhance their knowledge about carnatic musicians.

On account of the same, two of the club members gave a power point presentation on “Shri Thyagaraja” the Great saint & musician, his life history, his compos-ition and the ragas which were found by him. They had effective interaction with the students. This programme instilled the importance of carnatic music in the minds of the students.

Commerce Club - Agal Vilaku DistributionAmidst all routines, commerce club decided to take up an activity which is re-

lated to the subject and also benefi cial to the society. The activity is buying agal vilakku at wholesale price and after painting and decorating them selling at a profi t but lesser than market price on the eve of Karthigai Dheepam Celebration. The profi t earned would be given to genuine orphanage.

The capital for the activity was raised from the commerce club members. They worked in different departments like purchase Department, Marketing Depart-ment, Sales Department to carry out the work smoothly.

The Students were on their toes with enthusiasm to complete the task. Finally it was taken to the high pedestal when the students came forward to contribute their investment towards donation to orphans.

Proud India Club - Bhasha Sangam The members of Proud India Club were given a great opportunity by the

school to conduct a programme organized by CBSE to learn many regional languages through "Basha Sangam". It was an initiative taken up by ministry of HRD to popularize the different languages among the students. Everyday two students were selected to say few lines in different languages like Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu In the assembly and which was also repeated by the students. Moreover they were also insisted to practice the sentences learnt everyday with their parents and relatives. The only motto behind this was to create unity among all religions in India. In connection with this programme competitions like poster making and fancy dress were also conducted.

National book week celebration National book week is the birth anniversary of former prime minister, pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It starts on 17th Nov, and observed for a week. Aim of this celebration is to read a lot and develop one’s personality. It would help them to have a revolution in the fi eld of education. Various com-petitions were held so as to create a platform to grasp the opportunity to read which will make one dream with open eyes. The competitions were favourite character drawing for V std, book wrapping for VI std, just a minute story for VII std, create a story based on proverbs for VIII std, paper presentation on various legends – mathematicians, Poets, authors, importance of English for class IX to XII std.

on 09.11.2018 & 10.11.2018, Inter-school scouts & Guides camp was held in our school premis-es wherein 93 students of class VIII participated along with seven Staff Members.

Ramayana and Mahabharatha It is noteworthy to mention that our Vidyalaya marks a

new dimension towards inculcating the value education where the children of class VII and VIII are hereby benefitted with the great values to be learnt in their age by knowing more about our epics and scriptures.

As a part of this course our teachers narrate stories on all saturdays from great epics. Class VII have been learning Mahabharatha and its moral prospects similarly class VIII - Ramayana. This is being initiated so as to inculcate the values and inherit the moral lessons from the lives of Rama, Krishna, Arjuna and so on.

Samajik Samrasta Club Samajik Samrasta Club took up a great initiat-ive for the signifi cance of social equality. As a part of this initiation, the club members went to panchayat union Government School, Poorivakkam on 14th November 2018. The event commenced with a speech on the importance of oneness, concord, integrity, indivisibility & so on. The games occupied the

major portion of the wholeness where the govt. school children enjoyed it with utmost pleasure & were rewarded with the prizes as a piece of encouragement. The spirit of the club members was showcased and they were immensely happy in sowing the seeds of social equality in the young minds at right age.

Exclusive activities of pre-primary children Krishna Jayanthi, a unique bonanza for our tiny tots was held on 6th Septem-ber 2018. Nearly 750 children were in Radhakrishna Costume & went on a proces-sion, in the month of September. I & II std students had an activity focussing on the topics poem recitation, grammar, tables, speech on general topics so as to imbibe the precise pro-nunciation, accent, boldness & so on. The response from the children was quite encouraging. on

20th September 2018, LKG & UKG children were in disguise of Lord Ganesha, Murugar, Lord Shiva, Krishna & recited slokas, bhajans & so on. On 29th November 2018, Inter School competition was held at Sri Padma Sarangapani, Villivakkam 6 of our students from LKG to II Std Participated wherein - Sai Varsha, LKG E, Rithika, UKG A, Sanjay, UKG E, bagged Prizes.

Dance for a Noble Cause Dance is like dreaming on one’s own feet. As per the quote, our vidyalaya sheds prime (due) importance to bring out the innate aptitude of our children especially in dance. We feel delighted to house a num-ber of trained dancers at our school. To make the dance more aes-thetic, this year during Navarathri Celebration, our vidyalaya’s dance team under the guidance of dance teacher had been to Banian Hospital, Mugappair West where it is denoted that it is the place of sanctity and blessedness. The aphorism of the pro-gramme was to make those people drench with loads of happiness but the team was totally astonished when they happened to receive lots of gifts as a sign of gratitude for the dance performance. Every one was quite emotional. Despite this challenging ability (special needs) they didn’t give up their hopes & had lot of grit determination which was proved & felt in that place.

Intra Mural A champion is afraid of losing, everyone else is afraid of winning. It’s our privilege to express that our vidyalaya students conduct Intra mural sports event every year in the school premises. This year it was held on 10th January 2019. The events include both track and fi eld events. The most precious & important thing is that our Alumini Association render their fullest support in conducting the programme. The strategy of the event was por-

traying the leadership trait amidst students. There are four houses namely Dharma, Bheema, Arjuna and Krishna who will compete with each other for their victory. This would be a stepping stone for each house to get overall championship. This event specially focuses on the hidden talents of the children.

The puskaram festival takes place on 12 ma-jor holy rivers , corresponding to the Hindu zodiac signs during the transit of guru Bhagavan from one rasi to another ,every year. The puskhram festival that occurs in October 2018 is called Maha Push-rami as all the Zodiac signs are aligned at once-in -144 years occurrence. Accordingly, it is believed a saint obtained a blessing following a deep pen-ance, which transformed him in to a Pusharam that will clean each of the holy rivers as guru Bhagvans transits from one zodiac signs to another

Hindus believed that sage Agasthiyar released the Thamirabharani from the Podhigai hills where he went to have a glimpse of the wedding of Sivaperu-man and Parvathiammal.

Thamirabharani took avatar from the podhigai hills on the auspicious day in vaikasi vishagam when Murugaperuman took avatar. Siva peruman revealed himself to the sage from kailash hills in his wedding attire on the hills which later became the “kalyana theertham’’.

However major section of scholars, writ-ers and locals had decided the com-mencement of Puskharam festivals on the river on the grounds that there is no writ-ten mention of Puskhram festival being celebrated along the Thamirabharani in any of the known his-torical materials.

Evergreen Eco ClubCleanliness is next to godliness, to make every student understand this statement our school

follows a good practice in cleaning the environment where cleanliness leaders from 6th Std to 12th Std were deputed to pursue the task on every thursday under the surveillance of School Cleanliness Leader.

They have also taken steps to create awareness amidst children about dengue. Programmes like taking pledge, displaying posters and rendering speech were also conducted. On December 15, 7th Std Students went to Jambukeshwarar Temple for Uzhavarapani where they engaged themselves in the noble task of cleaning the temple.

RAMANATHASWAMY TEMPLE Ramanathaswamy Temple

is a hindu temple dedicated to the god shiva located on Rameswaran island in the state of Tamilnadu, India. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temple. It is one of the 274 paadal petra sthalams where the three of the most revered Nayanars, Appar, sundarar and Tirugnana sam-bandar have glorifi ed the tem-ple with their songs.

The outer set of corridors is reputed to the longest in the world, measuring about 6.9m in height, 400 feet each in the east and west and about 640feet in the north and south. the inner corridors are about 224 feet each in the east and the west

and about 352 feet in the north and south. Their width varies from 15.5 feet to 17 feet in the east and west about 172 feet on the north and south with width varying 14.5 to 17 feet. The total length of these corridors is thus

3850 feet. These are about 1212 pillars in the outer corri-dors. Their height is about 30 feet from the fl oor to the center of the roof. the main tower or rajagopuram is 53m tall.

We have learnt in Indian history that temples in ancient times were once social hubs where people congregated. They were also sites where the arts of dance, music and combat have been passed down for generations. Today, these temples remind us of our past and the architec-tural brilliance of craftsmen in those days. The sin-cere dedication of the artists on every detail, fas-cination for work and likeners for all things which are beautiful has helped them to fi ll life into lifeless stones.

The most excellent among the West India tem-ples are from the 10th century are the Ambika Mata temple at Jagat, the Ghatesvara temple at Badoli and the Kailashnath temple at Ellora. The Kailashnath temple was built as a dedication to lord Shiva. It is a tribute to man’s greatness, even though academia has not given its due place in our school history syllabus. Story of Saraswati River

The river is considered the personifi cation of Goddess saraswati- it is believed that it was on the banks of saraswati that parts of the Rig veda were written.

Somewhere close to 4,000 years ago, saraswati dried up

and was forgotten, till earlier this year when its route was traced and let up to bring it back to life There is enough scien-tifi c evidence on the presence of the river saraswati in some parts of the country through which it fl ows about fi ve to six thousand years ago.

In rig veda. the river is mentioned as fl owing between yamuna in the east and the sutlej in the west.

The mahabharata, men-

tioned that the saraswati dried up in a desert. According to the belief the river passed through areas of Haryana, Punjab, Ra-jasthan, Gujarat and parts of pakistan.

Even though modern sci-ence never acknowleged the existence of the river post in-dependence a number of eff-forts have been under taken to prove its existence.

The kandariya mahadeva tem-ple meaning “The great god of the cave’’, is the largest and most ornate hindu temple in the medieval temple group found at khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is con-sidered as one of the best examples of temples preserved from the medieval period in In-dia.

Features:

This temple is the largest among the three groups of the khajuraho complex of temples, this western group of temple con-sisting of the kandariya, matangeshwara and vishvanantha temples is compared to a cosmic design of a hexagon representing the three forms of shiva

The super structure has built in a steep moun-tain shape, symbolic of Mount Meru which is said to be the mythical source of creation of the world.

In the year 1997, dur-ing some construction process near the temple the workers found another temple of Nandhi, statue of bull which is called the ve-hicle of Lord Shiva buried. AS they further dug out the temple, a small pool of water was found inside the temple and even the Nandi was ejecting clean water from its mouth which fl ows to the Shiva Linga. However the source of water for both of them is yet unknown.

2. Lepakshi Temple

Located in Anantapur district of Andra Pradesh, the Lepakshi temple is famous for its ‘Hanging Pillar” Literal-ly among the structured and carried pillars inside the tem-ple one does not touch the ground. Devotees regularly

pass thin objects like clothes or papers from under the pillar to test the theory and be amazed They even believe doing so would bring them prospriety. That is for another day to discuss but how the weight of the pillar could be supported without it touching the ground remains the real mystery.

3. Brihadeeswarar Temple

Hailed for its architectural beauty, The Bri-hadeeswara Temple is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Most of the temple is carved out of pure granite which astonishing in itself as there were no gran-ite sources found anywhere within 60kms of the tem-ple. The Temple’s apex, called the “Gopuram” is found

to be made out of a single stone now weighing 80 tons. Consider-ing the granite reserves where so far away, how they managed to mount it place has only theoretical explanations so far

4. Stambheswar Mahadev Shrine

It is also known as the disappearing tem-ple of Gujarat. Because it disappears. Really! It is located at the bay of Cambay on the beaches of Jambusar city. It is said to be about 150 years old and there is nothing remarkably special about the temple itself until the high tide arrives that is.

During this time, the temple is completely submerged Under wa-ter and disappears from sight and remerges once the tide passes. The devotees usually make their offerings during the morning when the tide is low and stay late into the

evening to watch the temple slowly go down. But it still remains a sight to be hold.

5. Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple

It is a Hindu Temple located in Thiruvanan-thapuram, In-dia. The Tem-ple has what seem to be seven secret vaults. On the supreme court’s reav-

est, the committee overseeing the temple has opened 6 of those vaults unveiling ornaments of gold estimat-ed to be worth over 22 billion dollors. Now the 7th vault has steel doors with no thatches or bolts. It has carvings depicting 2 cobras. It is believed that the door is opened only by a secret chant and anyother means would being catastrophes. It is considered both a mystery and highly dangerous.

Mahanadhi RiverThe Mahanadhi river is a major river in last central India

. It drains an area of around 141000, square kilometres (54700Sq Mi) and has a total course of 858 kilometres (533 Mi) Mahanadhi is also known for the Hirakud Dam . The river fl ows through the states of Chattisgarh and Odisha

Like many other seasonal Indian rivers ,the Mahanadhi too is a combination of many mountain streams and thus its precise source is impossible to pinpoint .However its farthest head waters lie kilometers( 3.7Mi) from Pharsiya Village 442 meters (1450ft) above sea level south of sihawa town in Dhamtari district of Chattisgarh. The hills here are an extension of the Eastern Ghats and are a source of many other streams Which then go on to join the Mahanadhi .

For the fi rst 80 Kilometers (50Mi ) of its course ,the Mahanadhi fl ows in a worthly direction and drains the Rajpur district and touches eastern portions of Raipur city. It is a rather narrow river at this stage and the total width of its valley does not exceed 500 -600 metres.

History of mankind has shown that man cannot live without God - Belief in God in a cosmic power or cosmic law in a super human sprit or being in basic to all culture. Large tem-ples were usually built at pictur-esque places especially on river banks on top of hills ,and on the seashore .Smaller temples or open air shrines can crop up fi rst anywhere by the road side or even under the tree.

The puranas state that “The God always play near the rivers and mountains and springs.’’ Sacred sites in India therefore are usually associated with water During Gupta period the solid stone blocks were used to construct the temple.

சங்கீத ேமளா – 2018 – 2019

சம்ஸ்கி த ஞான பரிக்ஷா பயிற்சி வகுப் கள்

மாெபரும் இைச நிகழ்ச்சியான சங்கீத ேமளா நமது பள்ளியில் 29.12.2018 அன்று விமரிைசயாக நைடெபற்றது.

சுமார் இரண்டு மணி ேநரம் நைடெபற்ற இவ்விழாவில், நமது ெசவிகளுக்கு விருந்து பைடத்தனர் நமது பள்ளியின் மாணவ மாணவிகள்.

தனிப்பாடல், குழுப்பாடல் மற்றும் இைசக்கருவிகள் மூலம் இன்னிைச அைமந்தது. 5 ஆம் வகுப்பு முதல் 12ம் வகுப்பு வைர உள்ள மாணவர்கள் பங்கு

ெபற்றனர்.

பக்திப்பாடல்கள், நாட்டுப்புறப்பாடல்கள் மற்றும் ேதசப் பக்திப் பாடல்கள் இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் இடம்ெபற்றன.

தமிழ், மைலயாளம், கன்னடம் மற்றும் ஆங்கில ெமாழிகளில் அைமந்த பாடல்கள் பாடப்பட்டன.

2018–19 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான சம்ஸ்க்ருத ஞான பரிñõ வகுப்புகள் எமது பள்ளி ெபற்ேறார்களுக்கு நடத்தப்பட்டன. இதில் ௯௮ ெபற்ேறார்கள் கலந்து ெகாண்டு பயன்ெபற்றனர். ஒவ்ெவாரு வாரமும் சனிக்கிழைமகளில் இவ்வகுப்புக்கள் நைடெபற்றன. இதில் அத்ேதர்ைவ எவ்வாறு எழுதுவது எப்படி படிப்பது என்பது ேபான்ற குறிப்புகைள எம்பள்ளி ஆசிரியர்கள் பயிற்றுவித்தனர். இப்பயிற்சி வகுப்புகள் அவர்களுக்கு பயனுள்ளதாக அைமந்தெதன ெபற்ேறார்கள் ெதரிவித்தனர்.

4.1.19 ெவள்ளிக்கிழைம அன்று காைல 7 மணி அளவில் ஏழாம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்கைள அைழத்துக் ெகாண்டு ஸ்ேடஷன் ேராட்டில் உள்ள திெரளபதியம்மன் ேகாவிலுக்கு மார்கழி வீதி உலா ெசன்ேறாம். ெசல்லும் வழியில் மாணவர்கள் பக்திப் பாடல்கைள இைசக் கருவிகள் ெகாண்டு இைசத்த வண்ணம் பக்தி மனம் கமழ பாடிவந்தனர். பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்கு ஆலயத்தில், மார்கழி வீதி உலா ெசல்வதனால் ஏற்படும் நன்ைமகள் பற்றி விளக்கப்பட்டது. ஆலயத்தில் அருைம மிகுந்த காைலப் ெபாழுதில் அைனத்து மாணவர்களும் இைறவைன தரிசிக்கும் பாக்கியம் ெபற்றார்கள்.

மார்கழி வீதி பஜன்

எம் பள்ளியில் மாெபரும் நாட்டிய நிகழ்ச்சியான ‘நிருத்யேமளா' ௩௧.௧௨.௨௦௧௮ அன்று விமரிைசயாக நைடெபற்றது. சுமார் ௨ மணி ேநரம் நைடெபற்ற இவ்விழாவில் எம் பள்ளி மாணவிகள் ௧௨௧ ேபர் கலந்துெகாண்டனர். புஷ்பாஞ்சலியில் ெதாடங்கி நாட்டிேயாபிக், நவரசம், கதகளி, ஒடியா, பிளாக் & ஒயிட், தாண்டியா, இராஜஸ்தானிய நாட்டுப்புற நடனம்,

அனுமன் சாலிசா என பல்ேவறு நடன வைககள் ஆடப்பட்டு இறுதியில் ``வாழிய ெசந்தமிழ் வாழ்க நற்றமிழர்'' என்ற பாடலுக்கு மங்கள நடனம் ஆடி விழாைவ சிறப்பு ெசய்தனர். விழாவிற்கு கவிதா கலாலயாவின் நிறுவனர் திருமதி கவிதா ராஜ் அவர்களும், எம் பள்ளியின் முன்னாள் மாணவி. திருமதி என். சுவர்ணலதா (நடன ஆசிரிைய, எத்திராஜ் கல்லூரி) அவர்களும் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக கலந்துெகாண்டு விழாைவ சிறப்பித்தனர்.

நம்ைம ெபாறுத்தவைர இைறவைன வழிபடுவது என்பது ைககூப்பி வணங்கும் ஒருமுைற என்பதாகேவ

ெபாருள் ெகாள்ளப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இைறவைன வழிபாடு ெசய்வது ஒன்பது வைகயிலான வழிமுைறகைள நமது முன்ேனார்கள் ெசால்லி ைவத்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஒன்பது வழிமுைறகைள ெதரிந்து ெகாள்ேவாம்! இைறவழிபாடு ெசய்ேவாம்.

I) ேகட்டல்: இைறவைனப் பற்றிய ெபருைமகைளயும், புகைழயும் ேகட்டு அவன் வசம் ஆகும் முைறேய இந்த ேகட்டல் வழிபாடு முைற. ஒருவர் ெசால்வைத ெபாறுைமயாக ேகட்டு அறிந்து ெகாள்வதற்கு 'மனம்' ஒத்துைழக்க ேவண்டும். நல்லைத ேகட்க முயற்சி ெசய்தல் ேவண்டும். எனேவ தான் வழிபடுவதில் ேகட்டல் முதலிடம் ெபறுகிறது.

II) பா தல்:இைறவைனப் ேபாற்றி பாடுதல் இரண்டாவது

வழிமுைறயாகும் பக்திேயாடு இைணந்த பாடலுக்கு எப்ேபாதும் மிகப்ெபரிய சக்தி உண்டு. தங்கள் பாடல்கள் மூலம் இைறவைன வழிபாடு ெசய்தவர்கள் அப்பர், சுந்தரர், மாணிக்கராசகர் திருஞான சம்பந்தர். பாடல்கள் மூலம் இைறவைன தரிசிக்கலாம்.

III) நிைனத்தல்இைறவழிபாட்டில் மூன்றாவது நிைல நிைனத்தல்.

எப்ெபாழுதும் இைறவைன நிைனவில் ெகாண்டு அவைன நிைனத்து நிைனத்து அகம் மகிழ்ந்து இைறவைன நிைனவில் ெகாண்டு வழிபாடு ெசய்தல் மூன்றாம் நிைலயாகும்.

IV) தி வடி ெதாழல் இன்பம், துன்பம் நிைறந்த இந்த வாழ்க்ைகயில்

இைறவனின் திருவடிகைள ெதாழுது வணங்குதல் நான்காம் வழிபாட்டு முைறயாகும். எந்த நிைலயிலும், துன்பேம வந்தேபாதும் இைறவனின் திருவடிகைள வணங்கிய நாயன்மார்கள் திருவடிெதாழல் என்ற வழிபாட்டு முைறக்கு சான்றாக விளங்குகின்றனர்.

பூஜித்தல் ஐந்தாவது வழிபடும் முைறகளுள் ஒன்று இைறவைன வழிபட அன்பு ஒன்ேற ேபாதும் என்று ஆகம விதிப்படி இைறைன பூைஜ ெசய்து வழிபாடு நடத்துவது ஐந்தாவது வழிபடுதல் முைறயாகும்.

VI) வணங்குதல்இைறவனின் திருேமனிைய தன் கண்முன்

சிற்பமாக ெகாண்டு வணங்கி இைறவழிபாடு ெசய்யும் வணங்குதல் மூலம் இைறவைன காணலாம்.

VII) ெதாண்ெதாண்டு ெசய்து இைறவைன வழிபடுதல் என்பது

ஏழாம் வைக இைறவழிபாடு என்பார்கள். ஆலயத்ைத ஆலயத்து ெபாருட்கைள உழவாரப்பணி ெசய்திட்டு வழிபடுதல் ஓர் அற்புதமான இைறவழிபாடு ஆகும்.

VIII) சிேநகம்இைறவைன சிேநகிதனாக ெகாண்டு அன்ைப

ெவளிப்படுத்தி இைறவழிபாடு ெசய்வது ஓர் முைறயாகும் பக்த மீரா, நாைத ேபான்றவர்கள் இைறவைன தன் சிேநகத்தால் அன்பால் கண்டார்கள்.

IX) ஒப்பைடத்தல்இைறவழிபாட்டின் ஒன்பதாவது முைற

கங்ைக ெகாண்ட ேசாழீஸ்வரக் ேகாயில் இந்தியாவின் தமிழ்நாட்டில் அரியலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு சிவன் ேகாவில் ஆகும். இது கங்ைக ெகாண்ட ேசாழபுரம் என்ற ஊரில் முதலாம் இராேசந்திர ேசாழனால் கட்டப்பட்டது. கங்ைக ஆறுவைர பைடெயடுத்து öŒßÖ öÁØÔ ö£ØÓuß {øÚÁõP P[øP ெகாண்ட ேசாழபுரம் என்ற நகரத்ைத முதலாம் இராேசந்திரன் அைமத்து அங்கு ேகாவிைலயும் கட்டினான். இக்ேகாவில்

ஐராவேதஸ்வர் ேகாயில், ெபருவுைடயார் ேகாயில் ஆகிய மூன்றும் ேசர்த்து அழியாத ேசாழர் ெபருங்ேகாயில்கள் எனப்படுகின்றன.

ெகாடிமரம் 560 அடி (170 மீட்டர்) நீளமும், 320 அடி (98 மீட்டர்) அகலமும் ெகாண்ட முற்றத்துடன் கூடிய உயர்ந்த ேமைட மீது இக்ேகாயில் அைமக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. நடுக் கருவைறயில் இக்ேகாயிலின் முதன்ைம இைறவனான பிரகதீசுவரர் (]Áன்) லிங்க வடிவில் உள்ளார். கருவைறயின் மீதுள்ள விமானத்தின் உயரம் 55 மீட்டர் (180 அடி). இவ்விமானம் தஞ்சாவூர் ெபருவுைடயார் ேகாவில் விமானத்ைத விட ௩ மீட்டர் (9.8 அடி) உயரம் குைறவானது. மற்ெறந்த சிவன் ேகாயில்களிலும் உள்ள லிங்கங்கைள விட ௪ மீட்டர் (13 அடி) உயரமுள்ள இக்ேகாயில் லிங்கம் மிக உயரமானதாகும். கருவைற எப்ெபாழுதும் குளிர்ச்சியாக இருக்கும் வைகயில் சந்திரகாந்தக்கல் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ஒன்பது ேகாள்கைளக் குறிக்கும் ஒற்ைறக் கல்லான நவக்கிரகம் இக்ேகாயிலில் அைமந்துள்ளது. இக் ேகாயில் அழியாத ேசாழர் ெபருங்ேகாயில்கள் பட்டியலில் 2004 ஆம் ஆண்டு இைணக்கப்பட்டது.

ராதனக் ேகாவில்கள்

காேவரிகாேவரிகாேவரி, ெபான்னி, காவிரி என பல்வைகப்

ெபயர்களால் அைழக்கப்படுகிறது காேவரிஇ ஆறு. அகத்திய முனிவர் கமண்டலத்திலிருந்து உருண்ேடாடி பூமிைய நைனத்ததாகவும் இதிகாசங்கள் கூறுகின்றன.

ெபாருநராற்றுப்பைடயில் காவிரியின் நீர் வளத்தõÀ ஒரு ேவலி நிலத்தில் ஆயிரம் கலம் ெநல் விைளயும் எனக் கூறப்படுகின்றது. சிலப்பதிகாரத்தில் காவிரித்தாயின் நைடயழகு ெநஞ்ைசயள்ளும் விதமாகக் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

காவிரிக்கைரயில் திருவாைனக்கா, திருவரங்கம் ேபான்ற ைசவ, ைவணவத் தலங்கள் பல உள்ளன. ஆÌவார்கள் பன்னிருவரும் ஆண்டாளும் பாடிப் பரவிய இைறவன் அரங்கனும் காவிரிக்கைரயில் துயில் ெகாள்கின்றான். இைசயுலகின் மும்மூர்த்திகளில் ஒருவரான தியாகராசர் முக்தியைடந்த இடமும் திருைவயாறு. கரிகாÀ வளவனின் மகள் ஆதிமந்தியின் கணவன் ஆட்டனத்திøய காவிரியாறு அடித்து ெசல்ல கணவைனக் காnாது ஆதிமந்தி ஓட மருதி என்பவள் ஆட்டனத்திைய மீட்டுத்தந்தாள் எனவும் கூறப்படுகிறது.

சிலப்பதிகாரத்தின் இந்திர விழாவிலும் காவிரியின் கைரயில்தான் கானல் வரிப்பாட்டு பாடப்பட்டதாகவும் கூறப்படுகிறது.

இவ்வாறு இலக்கியம், ஆன்மீகம் ஆகிய ெபருைமகைள உள்ளடக்கிய காவிரியின் ெபருைமைய கூறுதல் அரிதாகும்.
