Un hombre inexpresivo e invulnerable desea ser

aceptado como es, pero su actual pareja lo

confronta ante su silencio para hablar de lo que

siente por ella. Así que él deberá expresarse,

antes de perder de nuevo el amor en su vida.

An stoic and hardened man desires to be

accepted as he is, but his current partner

confronts him over his silence in order to open up

about his feelings for her. He will have to express

his true self before losing love yet again.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

S I L E N C I O

As a filmmaker, I have discovered

through the power of cinema and

storytelling, the dark or unconscious side

under which we travel through life. How

can you know other worlds if you don't

know your own? How can you direct an

actor deeply, without having traveled

within yourself? Each character

projected on the screen is only one that

is divided in fractions of the main

characters unconscious mind. It is as in

life, we are beings that project what we

need to learn. This is what the hero does.

Silence is an experiment of an inner

dialogue between my mind (Rodrigo)

and my heart (Lucia), which explores the

relationship between what I think and

what I feel. At some point in time there

was a separation and now being more

mature, I'm seeking reconciliation to be

who I am.

Como ser humano, he descubierto a

través del cine y la narrativa, el lado

oscuro o inconsciente, bajo el cual

viajamos en la vida. ¿Cómo puedes

conocer otros mundos si no conoces el

tuyo? ¿Cómo puedes dirigir a un actor

profundamente, sin haber viajado dentro

de ti? . Cada personaje proyectado en la

pantalla, es solo uno pero en fracciones

de lo desconocido por el personaje

principal. Es como la vida, somos seres

que proyectamos lo que necesitamos

aprender. Eso es lo que hace el héroe.

Silencio, es un experimento de diálogo

entre mi mente (Rodrigo) y mi corazón

(Lucía). Explora la relación entre lo que

pienso y lo que siento. Donde hubo una

separación en algún momento y ahora

busca la reconciliación, siendo más

maduro, ser quien soy.

Silencio, comenzó como un ejercicio de

introspección, en acto de buscar patrones de

conducta en mis relaciones. Escribí a partir de

imágenes que encontré y de manera instintiva

las acomode, creando así esta historia.

Las relaciones de pareja pueden llegar a ser

complejas, ahora imagina cómo son en el

inconsciente entre lo que se piensa y lo que se

siente cuando existe una separación. Al explorar

con los actores el texto, fui descubriendo como

era que ellos estaban en el opuesto del

personaje. Es decir, en la vida real él, era Lucia y

Ana, nuestra actriz, era él. Creando un espejo

para ambos de algo que no habían visto de sí

mismos y que se mantenía en silencio.

Silence began as an exercise in introspection,

and in the act of looking for patterns of behavior

in my relationships, I wrote based on images I

found and instinctively accommodated them,

thus creating this story.

Relationships can become complex, now

imagine how they are in the unconscious

between what is thought and what it feels like

when there is a separation. As I explored the text

with the actors, I discovered how they were the

opposite of their characters. That is, in real life

Rodrigo was Lucia and Ana, our actress, was

Rodrigo. Creating a mirror for both of something

they had not seen in themselves and had kept

silent.

México cuenta con grandes locaciones y

gente profesional para narrar las

historias. En esta caso, el lugar en es

cercano a la Cd. de México en la

Marquesa.

Julia Marco fue un regalo, ante una

situación no prevista y tener que rodar

de nuevo esta escena, ella llego a

quedarse con el papel en la primer toma.

Ana Nolasco la conocí en talleres de

actuación. Siempre tuve esa sensación

de poder trabajar juntos por su poder

interno de actuación.

Rodrigo Rojo lo conocí cuando le ayude

a montar una escena de un casting para

una película de Woody Allen, justo

cuando había terminado de escribir el

guion de Silencio.

México has wonderful locations and

professional crews to help tell stories. In

this case, one location, La Marquesa, was

close to Mexico City.

I met Ana Nolasco in an acting

workshop. I always had the feeling of

being able to collaborate with her

because of her internal power as an

actress.

Julia Marco was a gift, due to an

unforeseen situation, I had to reshoot

this scene and she nailed it on the first

take.

I met Rodrigo Rojo when I helped him

set up a casting scene for a Woody Allen

film, just as I had finished writing the

script for Silence.
