ninety, this was one of her last paintings. She was a

prolific painter in oils, pastels and watercolors. She

professor and mentor was the subject of the movie On

Golden Pond. Custom framed, it measures approximately

105. MARTIN'S FARMS WOOL BLANKET

Martin's Farms VA is offering a 100% Lamb's Wool

Blanket made from the wool from their own lambs, raised

in The Plains, Virginia. They drive the raw wool to a

woolen mill in Canada, where they wash, spin, and dye the

yarn to make the blankets. The blankets are then woven

and hand hemmed in a family owned woolen mill that

started in 1870 as a Grist Mill and Lumber Yard that

converted raw fleece to batts. The mill eventually evolved

into an all wool mill in 1932, when it produced its first

blankets. The mill continues to be run by the same family

today. Martin's Farms has a limited quantity of blankets

available each year; they have a total of 138 blankets in two

This pair of Japanese woodblock prints known as ukiyo-e

1860 dated 1863, Cavalry Saber and Scabbard. Original

uncleaned and unsharpened 35" blade with address on one

ricasso and "U.S./DFM/1863" on reverse. Nice edge with

NO dings and old patina. Includes original buff washer;

original brass basket hilt with very old mustard patina, but

bent in a few places from period of use, and original leather

covered grip with traces of old wire braid. Solid

construction and does not rattle. Original steel scabbard

with black paint over old gold paint with NO dents or

bends on scabbard. The 1860 Cavalry Sabers were used by

the U.S. Cavalry from the American Civil War until the end

of the Indian Wars. By the end of the Civil War, over

300,000 1860 sabers had been made by Ames, Roby,

Tiffany & Co., Emerson and Silver and more. Later in the

Civil War, large Cavalry charges became less common as

the cavalry took on the role of skirmishers. Many replaced

their sabers with extra revolvers, or left it in the saddle

while fighting on foot. Used extensively by both North and

South during the war.

Six shot, .35 caliber with 5" octagon barrel having Belgian

proofs on the lug and stamped on the top flat "CAP

SYSTEM, MANUFACTURED BY RONGE & SON."

Cylinder with naval engagement scene Liege proofs

between the nipple ports. Trigger guard and left side of

frame stamped. Blued finish with case hardened frame

with approximately 40-50% remaining. Matching serial

numbers and excellent walnut grips. Old minor wear and

small dings on barrel, but a very good plus to fine example

overall. Known as the Colt 1851 Navy or Navy Revolver,

it is a cap and ball revolver that was designed by Samuel

Colt between 1847 and 1850. It remained in production

until 1873. Famous "Navy" users included Wild Bill

Hickok, John Henry "Doc" Holliday, Sir Richard Francis

Burton, Bully Hayes, Robert E. Lee, "Bigfoot" Wallace,

Ben McCulloch, just to name a few, and most Texas

Rangers prior to the Civil War and (fictionally) Rooster

Cogburn. These saw extensive use during the American

Civil War by both sides and throughout the West

afterwards. Their use continued long after more modern

cartridge revolvers were introduced.

luxury, tented and/or lodge Safaris. Their vision combines a passion

for the bush with extensive knowledge and contacts throughout the

continent to allow you to “Live Your African Dream.” Many Hill

families have experienced an African Temptations Safari and have

fallen in love with Africa on their once-in-a-lifetime trips. Now it is

your turn.

YOUR SAFARI INCLUDES:

VIP Concierge on international arrival and departure, 5 nights’

accommodations, all meals, teas and coffees, all alcohol and non-

alcohol drinks at Singita and Tswalu, breakfast only at The Table Bay

Hotel, customized luggage, Pre-Safari and Arrival Packages, Safari

Package Activities (2 daily game activities with a ranger and tracker in

an open vehicle), domestic flights from Cape Town to Tswalu, from

Tswalu to Singita (via Johannesburg), and Singita to Johannesburg, a

car service and Tour Guide for one day in Cape Town, a car service

to/from Singita and Tswalu Airstrips and lodges, any entrance fees,

and laundry at The Table Bay Hotel. Any Extraordinary and

Additional Safari Activities, Private Land Rovers, accompanying Tour

Director, massages and other spa services, gratuities, telephone calls,

faxes and any personal purchases.

Travel is valid for one year from the date of the Auction; i.e. travel to

be complete by May 13, 2018. The winner must arrange for a meeting

with the AT representative after the Auction and reservations must be

made within 21 days following the Auction date, by June 3, 2017.

Bookings are subject to availability (excluding peak and high periods

such as long weekends, Easter weekend, Christmas and school

holidays). Reservations can be made at this time, but may be at a

premium. The itinerary may be extended and additional Guests may be

added only if booked through African Temptations.
