Best degree of softness Higher the amine content

Unfortunately it also due to oxidation of this amine that one generates the undesirable yellowing of the textiles in application & so the search for the

compromise between softness & yellowing continues. It is true that today there are certain products on the market which are pitched at various points along this line of compromise; in general,

More soft – More yellowingLess soft – Less yellowing

Textile treated with conventional di-amino functional silicone-emulsion show two big disadvantages:

Yellowing at higher temperature andHydrophobic effects.

Page 6: Silicone presentation

Page 7: Silicone presentation

Here the anti yellowing mechanism i.e. ultra low yellowing mechanism is due to its “LOW AMINE VALUE” of mono-amino functional silicone.

Lower the amine value lesser the yellowing.

Being a mono amine it gives ultra low yellowing in comparison to di-amine.

Alkyl/Alkoxy terminatedThese reactive silicone emulsions functions as a basic component in a silicone elastomer system alongwith silanic hydrogen as cross linking catalyst and organo metallic compound as condensation catalyst. Thus reactive PDMS can undergo chain extension / polymerisation to form highly elastic macro molecules with extensively crosslinked structure; forming a coherent film round the fiber and increasing elasticity. In addition these elastomers are characterized by :Strong durability to washing and dry cleaning &Enhanced resilience. A very pleasant soft handle & excellent spring back effect and bounce.

Page 9: Silicone presentation

Alkyl/Alkoxy terminated contdImproved dimensional stability & improved wash and wear ratings with greatly enhanced wet and dry crease resistance. Improved sewability. These features are especially beneficial for knit goods to improve elastic recovery (stretch recovery); to improve shape retention and to reduce bagging during wear. Furthermore Reactive PDMS are used as resin extenders and confer permanent lustrous effects and bulk elasticity to filling fibers. They are used in finishing of jeans in pigment printing and allow special effects to be obtained in the elastomeric finishing of fiber fill, knits, garments and machine washable wool.

These are chemically inert trimethyl silyl terminated poly dimethyl siloxanes. These silicone oils are used as is, or in form of aqueous emulsions; neat or in blends with organic softeners, petroleum oils, waxes to produce : Textile softening agents which give specific soft & supple handle with good sew ability, cutting and abrasion resistance in wash and wear finish.Raising and napping agents especially for synthetics.Sewing thread lubricants to improve gliding properties of sewing threads and their resistance to heat (heat shield effect). To reduce friction and ensure rapid dissipation of heat resulting in fewer thread breakages.Yarn lubricants with high heat stability.Antifoams and defoamers to eliminate space rubbing foam.Pigment print additives for improving crack fastness and depth of shade.

Primarily it is due to the fact as a highly hindered,

2º - amine, the possibility of oxidation of the amine

is greatly reduced so that high energy levels would

be required to destabilize the chemical structure &

cause undesirable yellowing. Further more the

electron lone pair on the nitrogen has its charge

well distributed within the cyclic structure to which

it is attached.

Secondarily the hindered amines of this type also

have free radical scavenging properties, which

prevent oxidation & subsequent yellowing via this

mechanism
