Please sign-in upon arrival and sign-out upon

exiting the building . Member sign-in is located in

the foyer and guest sign-in is located in the office.

Bus Transportation

Bus transportation is available to members on a first call, first reserved basis. Please call the office to make or to cancel a reservation. To help defray the cost of transportation, a suggested donation

of $1 each way is greatly appreciated.

Shopping is available four afternoons each week. Shoppers leave from the Center at 1:00 p.m. for

an hour at the store and are then taken home.

The mission of Clarence Senior Citizens, Inc. is to provide social, recreational, educational, and nutritional programs, as well as opportunities for

volunteerism, to persons in the community who are fifty-five and older.

May: The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their

Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics AND

Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly.

During May, Clarence and surrounding communities

will hold a variety of events focusing on The Boys in

the Boat as a part of the inaugural “One Community,

One Book” project. This group will be the first

organization/book club to “kick off” the events taking

place in our community! Bob Poczik will be

reviewing the book at the Clarence Library on

May 15th. All are welcome to attend this

community-wide Book Group.

Via commission portraits, famous works of art,

PiYo Class Wednesday, May 10th

4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

PiYo, a blend of Pilates and Yoga, is a comprehensive

mind-body workout that strengthens and tones muscles,

enhances flexibility and balance, and helps with stress

reduction. The central focus of the Pilates component is

control, strengthening, and toning. The principal aim

of the Yoga component is mindfulness and relaxation.

Participants should be able to get up and down off of

mats without assistance. Mats and yoga blocks will be

provided. Participants should always bring a water

bottle and wear comfortable clothing.

The fee is $30 for a five week session.

Roundabouts are changing traffic patterns in many

Western New York communities. We’ll compare the

origin of the modern roundabout with its predecessor,

the traffic circle. What is the difference between the

two, and which is safer? We’ll talk about the basics

of roundabout design and terminology, and review

recently built roundabouts in Western New York.

After the death of his older brother Joe, Lee is shocked

a spirited 16-year-old, and is forced to deal with a past

that separated him from his wife and the community

where he was born and raised.

Hawthorne, tells the story of one’s sin’s effect on four

Buffalo News Section A for a group discussion.

“Buffalo Diaries from the 30s & 40s” Tuesday, May 23rd

1:30 p.m.

Deborah Peters lived, loved, and shared her intimate

knowledge of Buffalo on a daily basis in her leather-

bound diaries. This presentation will focus on the

importance of journaling and participants will gain

insight into one young woman’s interpretation of an

interesting and turbulent time in our country’s history,

and that of the world. Instructor: Mary Mullett-Flynn,

writer and watercolor artist in Buffalo; Board of

Artists in Buffalo; Chautauqua Institute.

Enjoy a short overview of major cultural concepts from

the Haudenosaunee people (Six Nations), including

discussions of the Thanksgiving Address, relationships

with the natural world, and teachings of the “Good

Mind.” We will also discuss misunderstandings and

misrepresentations of Native culture, as well as

challenges faced by many Native people and

organizations that are trying to strengthen and nurture

Do you have an old cell phone that you no longer use?

Please recycle your cell phone to benefit the Center.

Soldier Care PackagesSoldier Care PackagesSoldier Care Packages

The CSC is a drop off site for donations for our

military troops. Many thanks to the Clarence

American Legion Auxiliary 838 for assembling

the packages and getting them to the soldiers.

Suggested Items:

Travel size soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions &

creams, disposable razors, hand sanitizer, lip balm,

sun block, small combs, small pkgs. of tissues, pens,

pencils, note pads, small hand held games, playing

cards, puzzle books, gum, hard candy, black socks.

Monetary donations are also needed and appreciated.

As a 501 (c)(3) charitable not-for-profit

organization, Clarence Senior Citizens, Inc. is able to accept tax deductible

contributions. Honor a special person by making a memorial donation.

Your donation will help to make a difference in the lives of seniors by supporting

a wide range of programs provided at the Clarence Senior Center.

Ongoing Collection for Veterans...

We will continue to collect canned and dry

goods to donate to the Veteran’s food pantry.

A box for donations is located in the office.
