Firearm Authorized Firearms for use in this competition include:

• Revolver. • Semi-Automatic Pistol.

Participants may only use one firearm for the purpose of competing in the Silvercore National Pistol Shoot.

Equipment It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure they have proper and working equipment. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

• A firearm. • Eye protection. • Ear protection. • Ammunition, as outlined below. • Targets, as outlined below.

It is also the responsibility of the participant to check with the range in which they will be attending to check their requirements for personal protection equipment or otherwise.

Targets Targets will be the responsibility of the competitor to obtain.

Targets authorized for use in the shoot and eligible for submission should be a Bullseye, as shown in Figure 1 below. This target can be purchased from Canadian Tire and can be acquired locally or be mail ordered.

Participants must identify their targets before firing by signing the back of each target.

Participants will require four targets for the purpose of this shoot to be entered into the category of their choosing. The participant will use one target per distance, which will consist of five rounds. For example, target one at five yards with five rounds, target two at ten yards with five rounds, etc.

Ammunition A minimum of 20 rounds will be required for the course of fire for this shoot.

It is the responsibility of the competitor to check with the range in which they will be attending for any club-specific ammunition requirements and what may or may not be permitted for use at the said range.

Shooting Position This shoot will be shot with competitors standing, one or two-handed, or unsupported.

The use of artificial support is prohibited, except as individually authorized for a physically disabled shooter.

Range Standards

Firing Line: The range for pistol competitions shall have a firing line. The shooting distances will be measured from the face of the competition target to the firing line, that point beyond which no part of the competitor’s body may touch the ground. Such a line will be clearly marked.

Firing Point: The part of the range provided for the competitor where firing takes place. The firing points should be constructed so that they do not obstruct or disturb the competitor’s shooting or obstruct the activities of the Range Officers.

Distance: The shooting distances must be strictly adhered to. These will be outlined in the course of fire.

Course of Fire This course of fire is divided into four distances, which will be shot at:

1. 5 Yards. 2. 10 Yards. 3. 15 Yards. 4. 20 Yards.

Thirty seconds will be provided for each distance with five rounds shot at each distance for a total of 20 shots fired.

Scoring

Target Scoring: Silvercore will be scoring targets submitted by participants. These will be marked based on the accuracy of shots with the goal of hitting the centre bullseye of the target.

Scoring will be done based on the scoring ring hit with the shot. Each ring has its own value and shots will be added up from each scoring ring for a final total. Being that five rounds will be shot per target, and the highest value of the scoring ring is 10 (X also has a value of 10), the final score to aim for per target is 50 (5 Rounds x scoring ring value 10 = 50). The grand total amount between the four targets will be 200.

Figure 2 is shown as a reference on how shots will be marked based on placement on the scoring rings and how the scoring will be done in the table below the image.

Example:

In this example, because there were three pure shots in the scoring ring marked with a seven, we mark the number 3 in the table under the seven. To calculate the score on this, we take 3x7, which equals 21. There were also three cut shots in the scoring ring marked with a seven, again 3x7 is 21.

Therefore, to get the total value, 21 points, pure shot, is added to 21 (cut shot) to equal the amount of 42 points of a total of 50 possible points to achieve.

Score: 5 6 7 8 9 10 X Number of Shots

Total Score

Number of pure shots per scoring ring 3

6 42/50Number of cut shots per scoring ring 3

TOTAL SCORE PER SCORING RING 42

Maximum Hits Before Submission: Targets must not accumulate more than what is specified in the 'Course Of Fire' section for shots before being submitted.

Tampering of Target before Submission: If a competitor is observed tampering with his or her target prior to submission, and if the witness on duty (RSO, or executive, or director) feels the target has been altered, the entire target, regardless of the number of hits on it will be disqualified.

Interference with Targets: Competitors will not be permitted to interfere with the handling of targets by range personnel. Competitors are not allowed to touch his or her target after it has been fired (NFA, 2018, p.49, section 14.1.4).

Visible Hits and Close Groups: As a general rule, only visible hits will be scored. However, exceptions can be made. For example, an exception can be made when the groupings of three or more shots are so close that a required shot or shots can have gone through the enlarged hole without leaving a mark, and there has been no evidence that a shot or shots have gone elsewhere than through the assigned target.

In such a case, the shooter will be given the benefit of the doubt and scored hits for non-visible shots, on the assumption they passed through the enlarged hole. If such a presumption should place a non-visible hit in either of two scoring rings, it shall be scored in the higher-valued ring (NFA, 2018, p.51, section 14.9).

Excessive or Inadequate Hits: If more than the required number of hits appear on the target, that submission for the specified category will be disqualified.

If a competitor fires fewer than the prescribed number of shots through his or her fault, and there should be more hits on the target than the shots fired, they will be scored based on the number of shots with the highest value equal to the amount they fired. They then will be given a miss for each unfired cartridge (NFA, 2018, p.51, section 14.10).

Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie between competitors in the same category, the following procedure will be used to determine a winner in the order as follows:

a. By the highest number of X’s over the course. b. By the number of X’s at the longest distance. c. By the number of X’s at the next longest distance, continuing through the course in reversed order

(NFA, 2018, p.52, section 15.2).
