The scalable, expandable device is especially suitable for locations where its use directly on-site on the machine and a flexible adaptation to the application are required. It is installed on SIMATIC Multi Panels 277 and 377. The smaller variant is optimized for MP 277, with similar quantity structures to those of the CPU 315. The larger variant is optimized for MP 377, with similar quantity struc-tures to those of the CPU 317. Thanks to their compactness and their low price, the two Multi Panels are ideal for entry into SIMATIC Embedded Automation, for control tasks which also require HMI functionality – especially in cases where space in the control cabinet or the machine is limited. Siemens solutionFor a large book retailer near Milan, Sitma has implemented a new medium-sized sorting system – and it used SIMATIC Embedded Automation, espe-cially the MICROBOX-427B RTX model. System control is handled in the MICROBOX via the software PLC WinAC RTX, which is pre-installed on the Compact Flash card. The control system uses Ethernet to communicate with all of the other automation components of the entire system.

RequirementsFor more than 50 years, Amut has been an innovator in the field of plastic pro-cessing machines. The company imple-ments complete solutions for the extru-sion of profiles and pipes, from thermal warping all the way to recycling systems. Systems which to a large extent are tail-ored to the specific requirements of its customers. The goal of the company is to optimize the use of time and resources related to this.

Siemens solutionOne of the most recent projects from Amut: the production line FFG 920 ADV for manufacturing basins with the aid of thermal warping. SIMATIC EmbeddedAutomation is used for this. Both thedistributed input/output points and thecontrols of the automation system are connected via PROFIBUS DP to the SIMATIC Panel PC 477B HMI/RTX. This provides real-time control with the aid of the software PLC SIMATIC WinAC RTX – and with WinCC flexible RT for the user interface and monitoring functions.
