Trek

• Earn the Canoeing Merit Badge.• Work with highly experienced and ACA-certified instructors. • Learn small craft water safety and the basic maneuvering skills to

navigate flat water effectively.• Be prepared for Scouts to get wet as they learn to self rescue and

rescue others. • Canoes, life jackets and paddles are provided but you can bring

your own USCG life jacket if you prefer.• Prerequisite: 1st class swim test.

• Earn the Kayaking Merit Badge• Learn the basics of water safety and kayak paddling• Scouts will spend time on flat water, practicing the skills for safe

navigation. • Be prepared for Scouts to get wet as they learn to self rescue and

rescue others. • Kayaks, life jackets and paddles are provided but you can bring your

own USCG life jacket if you prefer.• Prerequisite: 1st class swim test.

• Experience a full weekend designed to simulate a Northern Tier style canoe trek and build endurance while honing their paddling skills.

• Practice wilderness camping, cooking, logistics and portaging. • Use gear designed to match what the outfitter would typically

provide.• Canoes, life jackets, paddles and trek outfitter camping gear are

provided.• Prerequisities: SKC Canoe clinic or Canoeing Merit Badge, and 1st

Class swim test.
