Does this can work when placed up against the wall? When it's against the wall and you step on the foot pedal, does the lid bang against the wall?

- If you step on the pedal normally the lid will open without striking the wall but if you step on the pedal super hard and there is no reason to, with full force it will hit the wall....also info doesnt tell you, but if you open with your hand the lid will remain open so you can have free access to it without it closing...a great feature.

A few years ago I looked at this Simplehuman trash can, but at the time I opted for a cheaper brand of the same style from Target to save some money. It didn't last, and I bought the Simplehuman can and it is worth the few extra bucks! I have added three pictures, each with the Simplehuman can on the left and the cheap can on the right. Below is a comparison of the two most important factors between a cheap can and this Superhuman trash can - and why I give this product 5 stars.1. One of the first things to break on the cheaper can was the foot pedal, it had one thin metal rod underneath the can controlling the foot pedal, compared to the full panel pedal that you can see the Simplehuman can has.2. Getting a full bag of trash out of the cheap can was completely frustrating! Trying to shake the bag free because it was held into the can by a vacuum. The Simplehuman can does not have that problem - as you can see in the photo, the Simplehuman can has small slits in the bottom of the liner to preven that vacuum effect. The bag of trash comes out easily! This was the most important difference for me.
