CUSTOMER DESCRIPTION The customer is a leading global engineered materials company, with manufacturing and converting facilities across nine countries, focused on the production of non-woven materials for hygiene, wipes, medical, and industrial markets. BACKGROUND The customer sought to expand its market opportunities through acquisition of a firm specializing in non-woven fabrics in complimentary markets. HCL started by identifying the potential savings from the acquisition and how it would be benefit the parent organization. Several key initiatives were identified which would drive overall cost savings:

• IT Run Book for 68 critical applications which would reduce dependency on key resources

• Near term and long term recommendation for financial and tax reporting consolidation • Opportunities for the customer to stabilize it’s mail platform by moving to another

e-mail provider• Opportunities for application portfolio consolidation to drive out inefficiencies• Server virtualization opportunity which would alleviate the End of Life risk being

assumed by both companiesAn overall roadmap for application portfolio optimization and consolidation was also presented which would form an essential part of the integration.

• $1.2Mn savings identified in IT P&L costs which represent the following reductions:• 20% labor• 50% office maintenance • 50% Telephone• 50% other• 10 essential integration projects identified (<6 months) which would help the

customer realize the above benefits in a short timeframe• Six risk reduction and three cost savings projects recommended (>6 months) which

would help reduce risk in the overall portfolio and create a standardized platform for future growth of the integrated organization

The recommendations made by HCL instilled a lot of confidence in the customer in taking a calculated decision with regards to the FW acquisition and the related IT considerations. Additionally, this exercise also presented an IT roadmap which the client could leverage to accrue cost savings and fund the implementation of the integration projects.Today, customer has gone ahead and approved the acquisition and is implementing the short term projects recommended by HCL
