1 June 2011 Volume 2011, Issue 4 SINCE 1964 WWW.TTCM.ORG From the President- What a Memorial Day weekend we had at our Bellevue Campground. The park was almost full; the food was great. The poor Pig didn’t have a chance. The DOUBLE DOZEN men stayed up all night to be sure that it did not escape from the roaster. The band was enjoyed by all. The Stuff auction raised almost $700 to help cover the cost of the band. The members of the DUNELAND WINNIES got up very early to fix everyone a delicious breakfast. The kids even had a pig coloring contest. Things were running very smoothly until the weather took a dive on Sunday afternoon. I don’t have to tell you what happened in Battle Creek and Marshall. It will take them a long time to recover from all of the damage. We had no damage here at the campground but the electric has been out now for over 48 fours. The trees that were planted are still tall after the storm and look good. We owe a big THANK YOU to Linda Vella for arranging the whole tree thing. She also held a 50/50 raffle to raise money to pay for some of the trees. There were trees planted in honor of past members and officers, however because I do not have a complete list of all the names we will get them to you later. There also were trees donated by members but I do not have their names either. This could be something that might be considered to add shade on sites at our Hesperia campground also. Help Wanted Our Newsletter editor Debbie Steenbergh who as done such a good job for us for the past few years has asked to step down and take a break. We need to find someone soon who has computer experience who would be willing to spend a few hours a month getting this letter out to our membership. If you think that you might have an interest in putting our newsletter out each month would you please call me? If you would like more information you can call Debbie and she will call you back. Garage Sale This month is time for our Annual Garage Sale. A lot of stuff arrived here at Bellevue during our pig roast. However we still need more. We will need approx $1,200 to have enough money to install a complete metal roof and trim on our upper shelter building. This is a complete price for all material with everything included. The Hesperia sale is raising money to replace the fence in the front of the campground. Gather up all you can find and take it to the campground of your choice. While you are there you could stay a few days and help get the sale ready to go or stay and help during the sale. It is a lot of fun and it is all for your campground. Election During the month of July you will be receiving your election ballot. The resume of each person running for that office will be published here in your newsletter. You will need to read the ballot instructions and follow them exactly for your ballot to be valid. You will see that there is no name on the ballot for the office of Treasurer. This will require that you write in the name of the person who you feel can meet the requirements of being our next Treasurer. The person who received the most write in votes will be our Treasurer for this election cycle (If they are qualified, If they accept, and If they are bondable). In order for a write in vote to count you must write the persons

From the President-

What a Memorial Day weekend we had at our Bellevue Campground.

This will require that you write in the name of the person who you feel can meet the requirements of being our next Treasurer. full name on the line for that office. Then you MUST make an X in the box beside of the name you just wrote. If there is not an X there is no vote.

More Help Needed Members of the Executive board have been working on getting TTCM into compliance with all of the State of MI and IRS audit requirements. We have been told that because we are non-profit there are some records that we must retain indefinably. We are working on a small fireproof room here at Bellevue (because it is centrally located in the state) to store these records. We have also decided that we would attempt to assemble as complete of a set of all newsletters, newspapers as possible. I would like to ask that if any one of you have any old TTCM Newspapers, Newsletters, Meeting minutes or Treasurers reports, to talk to a member of the Executive Board and allow us to copy them for our archives. We are aware of some of the records being lost in a flooded basement and some others being destroyed however we are attempting to get all that we can together in one place. If you are a younger member whose parents were members would you please talk with them to see if they have any of the above stored away somewhere. By working together we can make this happen. In closing, don’t let the price of fuel keep you at home; come out to your closest TTCM campground. Dick Hamlin/006

Duneland Winnies- This issue has been raised several times concerning the financial report from the 2006 Day’s Gone Bye rally at Bellevue. I was the chairman for this rally the Duneland Winnies request and received $4000 for expenses. Our treasurer for the event kept an accurate and complete record of all receipts. While still at Bellevue on Labor Day Monday all the receipts and records were turned over by our treasurer to the TTCM treasurer. Other items such as TTCM pens and cozies were also turned over to the club and the ticket booth was placed as the new phone booth. The rally did show a loss of approximately $700. We did not anticipate the need for duplicate records or copies that may be something other chapters may consider. Daryl Westphal Duneland Winnies

ews from the South- The tree project was a big success. Six large trees were planted with two more coming in October. Twenty seedlings from Arbor Foundation are also growing until they can get a permanent home. The 50/50 provided $173 for tree expenses and we also received numerous donations from members. Some trees were also donated. Thank you to all who made this possible.

Looking for TTCM Member- Last summer I had the pleasure of meeting a somewhat new member that was or is a Square Dance caller. I’m sorry to say I can’t remember who that was. If any of you know who the gentleman is, would you have him contact me? Double Dozen is looking to have a Square Dance/Line Dance caller at this year’s Rally. If any of you square dancers out there know of a reasonable (and patient!) person that can fit the bill, please contact me. I can best be reached by email at [email protected] or my home phone is 810.227-7574. Thanks much! Lisa Modelski, Double Dozen

Please keep in your prayers- The family of our long time member of TTCM 100 yr. old Ray Marshall who went to be with God on May 21, 2011 after a brief illness.

It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our

children to honor nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever.

-Jimmy Carter --39th president of the United States (1977-81), b.1924
