Administrator’s Corner

First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2016

Happy New Liturgical Year – Cycle A Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ! Today, we begin with the New Liturgical Year – Cycle A – from the Gospel of Matthew. It is also the First Sunday of Advent! Today, we begin our yearly pilgrimage through the events of our salvation history, starting with the preparation for the Nativity of Jesus, and ending with the reflection on his glorious “second coming” as the judge at the end of the world. We are entering the Advent season. We are invited to meditate on Jesus’ first coming in history as a baby in Bethlehem, his daily coming into our lives in mystery through the sacra-ments, through the Bible, and through the worshipping community, and finally, his Second Coming at the end of the world to reward the just and to punish the wicked. We see the traditional signs of Advent in our Church: violet vestments and banners, and the Advent wreath. These signs remind us that we have to prepare for the rebirth of Jesus in our hearts and lives, enabling him to radiate his love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness around us. We are called to be alert and watchful while spiritually preparing for Christmas by offering our daily work to God for His glory, by practicing more self-control in resisting our evil habits and inclinations, by seeking rec-onciliation daily with God and our fellow faithful, and by asking God’s pardon and forgiveness, and extending our unconditional forgiveness to those who have hurt us. Let us begin each day by praying for the strength and power of the Holy Spirit to prepare ourselves for Jesus’ rebirth in our hearts and lives. Sincerely yours in Jesus Christ and our Patroness St. Cecilia! Fr. Bao

The Bethlehem Christian Families (The Holy Land)

November 26 & 27…..

will be here after ALL Masses, to sell their hand-carved religious articles made of olive wood. The sale of these precious articles supports their Church Mission which is to maintain the roots and the existence of the Christian Families who are struggling to remain in Bethlehem.

At least ninety percent of the funds raised through these sales go directly to Christians liv-ing in the Bethlehem area. The proceeds will cre-ate more work which will help them to survive and stay in the Holy Land since they have no other source of income and are dependent on the olive wood industry.

Thank you for your support and generosity.

St. Cecilia Catholic Book Club

Please join us on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in discussing “7 Secrets of Divine Mercy” by Vinny Flynn. The Forward through Secret 4.

Three Popes have made it very clear that Divine Mercy is a major part of the Christian faith, and now this powerful new book reveals why. Vinny was one of the original edi-tors of the official English edition of the actual Diary of St. Faustina, and he has written and edited a vast number of the Divine Mercy materials that are used today. Through his "secrets" of Divine Mercy, Vinny shows how Divine Mercy is not just another worthy "private devotion"; it is the key devotion, the umbrella devotion over everything else. Every other devotion in the Church, every ritual, every activity, every teaching is under that umbrella of Divine Mercy. He shows us how everything in our lives can become more meaningful, more powerful, more life-changing once we really embrace the gift of Divine Mercy--the overflow of love from the Holy Trini-ty. Flynn draws from Scripture, the teachings of the Church, and the Diary of St. Faustina to not only reveal the heart of Divine Mercy, but to offer you an invitation and a road map so that this mercy can transform your life! The book club will meet in a member’s home from 7 to 8:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. If interested or have questions, please call Kathy Long at 714 318-4678 for directions. You are welcome to Come and See!

ESTAR PREPARADO Debes estar preparado. Estemos preparados. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Mission News

In October, on World Mission Sunday the group at-tendance was a visible sign of the mission spirit here at St. Cecilia. We hope you visited the information table and viewed the world map showing the Mis-sion Stations who receive your generous donations in the Blue Mission Envelope each month .Below is news sent by Sister Ellen of the Sisters of the Presen-tation in Guatemala, C,A.

She writes: "What a lesson in the power of the peo-ple! With monumental natural disaster occurring here, causing a whole community to be buried alive under a mountain of mud, collective reaction was nothing but inspiring, Hundreds of volunteers at risk of being caught in the ensuing landslide have been digging for days with the hope of finding more survi-vors. It was announced that there is no hope of finding people alive and big land movers have taken the place of most of the recue teams, Here in our parish the communities and schools, our institute among them, are collecting bedding, clothing, water, medi-cines and food stuffs and taking them to the survi-vors who have been left with nothing, So in the last weeks the nation is in mourning over too many dying because they had no place to live except under a mountain made of sand, Photos of the deceased are appearing in the newspaper-young people who would have been graduating from high school at the end of the month and children who would have been making their First Holy Commun-ion. Now people are asking municipal officers who may have sold those uninhabitable lots. Much of this news may be old to you, But I thought you might be interested in a local perspective. With love and gratitude for your continual support of your prayers and donations.

Thank you, Sister Ellen" Remember to use the Blue Envelope each month to help our missionaries like Sister Ellen. God Bless you, Bonnie Powers.

Giáo Xứ Thánh Cêcilia Cộng Đoàn Thánh Phêrô, Tustin

Năm Phụng Vụ Mới, Năm A

Fr. Bao and Fr. Wayne and Fr. Agustin invite YOU to please take a moment to look at the page to your left to see all kinds of ministries and services we have here at St. Cecilia.
