This conference will help guide the primary care physician with addressing updates of PPI therapy and caring for patients with GERD, Gastrointestinal Bleeding, Liver and Pancreas Disease, Diarrhea, Constipation and Abdominal Pain. There will also be a featured presentation on Understanding the Potential Health Care Ramifications of the Presidential and Congressional Elections. . Objectives: Upon conclusion of the program, learners should be able to: 1. Recall the new recommendations for care and management of Barrett’s esophagus 2. Understand the early workup and management of liver lesions identified on ultrasound and scans 3. Recognize the potential pitfalls of long-term PPI use and better understand the risk/benefit balance in their use 4. Identify the newest options for management of chronic constipation 5. Explain the role of capsule endoscopy and the proper situation in which it should be ordered 6. List updates in the workup and care of diarrhea secondary to celiac disease, C difficile colitis and IBS 7. Explain initial workup and management of patients with viral hepatitis and steatohepatitis
