DESCRIPTION
The 7th annual Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk was held in over 1,000 locations around the world on Oct. 11, 2014. I live in Vancouver and was visiting Portugal so it was great to join Jose Antunes, the walk leader, and 20 other photo enthusiasts for a great morning making images. We photographed on the grounds of the Sintra National Palace. marionmccristall.com joseantunes.comTRANSCRIPT
7th Annual Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk
Sintra, Portugal
Sintra, Portugal
People from Auckland, Cairo, Manila, Delhi, Santiago, New York, Toronto, and 1,000 other locations, participated in the Kelby Worldwide Photowalk on October 11 this year. It is an annual event organized by Scott Kelby. (scottkelby.com) Even though I am from Vancouver, I was fortunate to join a group of photographers during my holiday in Sintra, Portugal. Everyone enjoyed the walk lead by Jose Antunes, pro photographer and writer. (joseantunes.com) Jose challenged us to spend two hours photographing only from within the grounds of the Sintra National Palace. He encouraged us to look for unique points of view or images that tell a story and to make photographs of what captured our eye from the front, back, and sides of the centuries old royal palace. It was a pleasure to share the morning with about 20 enthusiastic Portuguese photographers. They warmly welcomed me and it was fun to explore the grounds of the palace with them. I always find it amazing how we all see and photograph different images even when we are in the same place. Thankfully the rain held off and we had a great morning. The following is a collection of some of the images I made on that wonderful day. Marion McCristall 2014 Note: To lend context to the location, I took the two photographs of Sintra, (including the National Palace with the tall chimneys reaching high into the sky,) outside the limits of the two hour challenge.
