ABOUT SIOC -CDT MATRIC BURSARY SCHEME The SIOC Community Development Trust (“SIOC-cdt) is a development organisation registered at the Master of High Court to be the custodian of development initiatives on behalf of its beneficiary communities. These communities include Thabazimbi Local Municipality (Limpopo province), Tsantsabane Local Municipality (ZF Mgcawu District, Northern Cape) and the John Taolo Gaetsewe District (Northern Cape province).
• Who is eligible to apply? Any Citizen who is a resident of the beneficiary communities listed above • <35 years old • average pass
mark of 65% • in financial need to fund under/postgraduate study • people living with disabilities will get first preference

PROGRAMMES
• These ADE programmes replace the old Advanced Certificate in
Education (ACE) programmes
• Designed for teachers that have an existing specialisation in one
of the following seven fields:

• Senior Phase (SP) Mathematics Teaching
• Senior Phase (SP) Natural Sciences Teaching
• Further Education and Training (FET) Life Sciences

What to submit
A completed SIOC-cdt Bursary Application form
A certified copy of latest matric results including mid-year Grade 12 results, or latest university/college academic results where application for funding is for 2nd year onwards
Proof of acceptance at a recognised, public Higher Education Institution (University or TVET/FET College)
One-page cover letter to motivate your case for financial need
A certified copy of your South African ID
How to apply
Download a copy of application form from the SIOC-cdt website (www.sioc-cdt.co.za); or
Collect form at SIOC-cdt offices in Kathu or GT-cdt office in Thabazimbi; or
Collect form at the nearest circuit office of the Department of Education; and
Complete the form and attach all supporting documents and submit to the Bursary Office through various channels discussed below
SciMathUS (Second Chance – matric) Leaners from our benefi-
ciary communities with Di-ploma or Higher Certificate matric pass are given the
opportunity to rewrite Maths and Physical
Science subjects in order to ob-
tain a Bachelors pass. Recruit-
ment is done by DoE.
First Opportunity Programme (Grade 10-12)
Intensive classes and assistance with enrolment to tertiary institu-
tions after matric for Grade 10, 11, and 12 learners who attained 65% for both Mathematics and Physical Science, as well as an average per-
centage of at least 65%. Recruitment is done by the DoE.

B.ED RHODES UNIVERSITY
• Must be South African
• From beneficiary communities
• Must have a teaching diploma
• Shortlisted candidates write a test (mathematical content and
must obtain 90%)
